Banff in winter transforms into something completely different. You can mix up your days with snowshoeing on the Paint Pots Trail and ice walks through Johnston Canyon, where waterfalls freeze into natural ice sculptures. Winter makes it easier to spot wildlife - wolves, moose, elk and also coyotes leave clear tracks in the snow along Bow Valley Parkway. The snowmobile tours really kick things up a notch, climbing 8,000 feet through old forests to reach Paradise Basin's powder fields.
