This 6-day trek up Mount Kilimanjaro follows the Marangu Route, sometimes called the 'Coca-Cola Route,' and it's different from other climbs because you'll sleep in mountain huts instead of tents—staying at Mandara Hut, Horombo Hut, and Kibo Hut along the way. The trail starts at Marangu Gate and takes you through rainforest before opening up into alpine moorlands as you gain elevation.

Look out for colobus monkeys in Machame's rainforest and check out unique alpine plants like giant groundsels at Shira Camp (3,840m) on Kilimanjaro. The alpine desert zone above 4,000m has rare species like the scarlet-tufted malachite sunbird near Barafu Hut. At Uhuru Peak (5,895m) there are glaciers to see, and you'll spot diverse birdlife including white-necked ravens as you descend to Lower Mweka Hut (3,100m).

What people love about Safari Tours in Mount Kilimanjaro
- 7-Day Machame Route
I climbed the 6-day Machame Route with Killi Economy, and the whole experience was incredible from start to finish. Edward, the owner, was fantastic, really helpful with the booking process and always quick to communicate, which made everything smooth and stress-free. On the mountain, the crew were absolutely amazing. Our chief guides Haji and Tulisa kept us safe, motivated, and confident the whole way. The food from Martin and Abeli was far beyond what I expected on a mountain and gave us the energy we needed every day. On summit night, Innocent, our summit porter, along with Tulisa helped me massively in getting through the final stretch with their encouragement helping me in reaching the top when I needed it most. Every single member of the team worked so hard, setting up camp, carrying gear, and lifting our spirits. Without them, I wouldn’t have reached the summit. This was truly the adventure of a lifetime, and I can’t recommend Killi Economy highly enough. I have made some memories to last a lifetime.
