What people love about touring Japan solo
- Stunning Japan with Shirakawa-go (private 3 star hotel rooms)
Our recent Japan tour was absolutely wonderful! We visited Osaka, Kyoto, Tokyo, Mt. Fuji, and the charming Shirakawa-go village — each stop was unique and unforgettable. The itinerary was well-organized, the hotels were comfortable, and everything ran smoothly from start to finish. Shirakawa-go was the highlight for us — such a beautiful, peaceful place that truly captured the spirit of Japan. Highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting to see the best of Japan!
- 14 Days Japan Panoramic(Private 3 Star Hotels)
Excellent! We saw top sights and had Judy as our fantastic tour leader.
- 9D Splendid Japan Deluxe-Private 4 Star Hotels|Osaka to Tokyo
As our introduction to Japan, the tour was seamlessly organized. The motorcoach was spacious, clean, and driver exceptional. The sights chosen for our stops were well-curated, incredibly interesting, and created lasting memories. For the most part, all of the hotels were good to excellent, (albeit some rooms were quite small) offering bountiful breakfast buffets never seen before! We are happy we chose the four star rather than the three star hotel package. Our group of diverse travelers were wonderful, and we made lasting friends. The only negative was our tour guide who replaced the tour guide we were originally to have. Our guide was on his way home when called in to service, so he started the journey tired. He walked at a very fast pace, leaving many behind and often not answering questions of travelers if he did not feel like it. He also espoused some of his own political views which was uncalled for. Over time, he softened some, but you win some lose some with tour guides. Fabulous trip overall!

Is it easy to meet other solo travelers on Japan guided tours?
Solo travelers make up about 30-40% of Japan tour groups making it natural to connect with others. Tours typically blend modern hotels with traditional Japanese lodging. Most itineraries feature 3-4 star properties like the Mitsui Garden Hotel Kyoto Shinmachi Bettei plus stays in authentic ryokans and temple lodgings. A TourRadar review notes: "Hotels were better than I expected: the guides and driver were superb. The accommodation was more than adequate and tourist spots you see are exactly the same as more expensive tours."
How do guided tours handle dining arrangements for solo travelers?
Shared meals form the social backbone of Japan tours. Most packages include daily breakfast and several group dinners such as the welcome dinner in Tokyo's Shinjuku district on the Solo-ish Japan tour.
