What a great trip! Well organized and laid out, both a history lesson with lots of interesting stories and a lot of laughs. Thanos the guide leader was hands down the best guide I have ever experienced on a tour. I would follow him anywhere

George and his family want to serve and make you happy. George know Kythnos very well as a guide. His mother serves a very nice breakfast. And if needed, his brother is there for additional assistance. Hiking is strenuous at times, but the views and experience make it worthwhile. This is a small group venue. There were only three people on my tour, including the guide George.

What our customers ask about Hiking & Trekking Tours & Trips in Greece
What is the best time of year for hiking in Greece considering weather and trail conditions?
The prime hiking window in Greece extends from April to October. Spring months (May-June) and early fall (September-October) offer the most favorable conditions with pleasant temperatures and fewer tourists on the trails. On Andros Island hikers will find wildflowers dotting the trails during spring while Mount Olympus is most accessible from June through September when the mountain refuges welcome visitors. The Corfu Trail tends to get quite warm during July and August. A TourRadar traveler notes: "Probably more enjoyable in the spring or autumn. Very hot in August/September." While Meteora's trails remain open year-round the shoulder seasons provide the most comfortable hiking weather.
What are the best hiking trails in Greece for various skill levels?
Greece's trail network accommodates hikers of all abilities. The Corfu Trail presents moderate terrain with daily distances between 12-20km while Mount Olympus tests experienced hikers with its 2407m summit ascent. Beginners will find gentler paths along Kythnos Island's coastline where sea views and village stops create natural rest points. Advanced hikers can take on the full Peloponnese E4 network or descend into Vikos Gorge. As one TourRadar traveler shares about Northern Greece: "Greece is a country of mountains and this tour delivers epic mountain trails to the top of mighty Mt. Olympus and to the bottom of Vikos Gorge the Grand Canyon of Europe."
Where do I sleep during multi-day hikes in Greece?
Sleep arrangements vary by region and route. Mount Olympus hikers rest at mountain shelters like the Spilios Agapitos Refuge perched at 2100m. Along the Corfu Trail accommodations range from the seaside Hotel Saron in Lavrio to family-run guesthouses. Zagori's stone villages offer authentic inns while Andros Island features the Vassiliki Studios complete with pool and ocean views. A TourRadar traveler notes: "Some of the places we stayed were very basic but this was made up by some stunning locations and friendly welcomes."
What level of fitness is required for Greek hiking tours?
Most multi-day Greek hikes require good endurance and sure footing. The Corfu Trail involves 15-24km daily walks with up to 800m elevation gain while Mount Olympus demands 6-8 hours of consecutive hiking at altitude. A TourRadar traveler warns about the Corfu Trail: "It is a bit more difficult than described. Several seasoned people on the trip said this was one of the more difficult walks they've done. Steep inclines on rocky/sandy surfaces." Even the gentler coastal paths of Kythnos need 4-5 hours of daily walking across varied terrain.
How challenging are the mountain hikes in Greece compared to other European destinations?
Greek mountain trails match the difficulty of other major European routes. The climb to Olympus's Skala summit at 2866m includes technical segments and substantial elevation gain. The Vikos Gorge while lower features rough terrain and full-day hikes. A TourRadar traveler reflects: "If you think Greece is only Athens and the islands think again. Greece is a country of mountains and this tour delivers epic mountain trails." Most routes need solid fitness and previous hiking experience.
What are the most popular hiking regions in Greece for different skill levels?
The country's hiking regions span all difficulty levels. The Cyclades islands of Naxos and Tinos feature moderate coastal paths with 4-6 hour daily walks. Northern Greece's Zagori region presents more challenges with Vikos Gorge hikes lasting 6-7 hours and climbing 1000m. Crete offers both - from the moderate 4-hour Imbros Gorge to the demanding 6-hour Samaria Gorge descent. One TourRadar traveler shares: "The walks were varied and beautiful from coastal paths to mountain climbs suitable for different abilities."
What wildlife might I encounter while hiking in Greece?
Protected areas across Greece support rich wildlife populations. Crete's White Mountains serve as home to Kri-kri (wild goats) and soaring griffon vultures. The Vikos-Aoos National Park houses unique plant and animal species. A TourRadar traveler reports: "The wildlife in Vikos Gorge was incredible - we saw rare birds and mountain goats in their natural habitat."
