If you’re thinking about visiting Italy and want to see a little bit of everything, this is the tour to book. We covered so much ground—from Venice to Rome to the Amalfi Coast—without feeling rushed, and the whole thing was super well-organized. Venice was the perfect start. We did a gondola ride and had an amazing welcome dinner. The views, the food, the history—it was incredible. Florence was beautiful, especially with all the Renaissance art and history, and I loved the free time to explore. Plus, we did a wine tasting in Chianti which was just chef’s kiss. ? The hotels were all comfortable, with great locations. My favorite stay was in Florence—it felt like a little retreat in the city. The transportation was really smooth too; no stress at all with getting from place to place. We saw so many iconic spots, from the Sistine Chapel in Rome to the ruins of Pompeii. I honestly can’t pick a favorite moment, but the boat trip along the Amalfi Coast was something I’ll never forget. Also, the food—wow. Every meal was delicious. The small group size made everything feel more personal, and the guides were friendly and knowledgeable. We also had enough free time to wander and do our own thing, which was awesome. Overall, this tour was worth every dollar. I came home with amazing memories, great photos, and a deep love for Italy. If you want a well-balanced, fun, and stress-free way to see the best of Italy, I 100% recommend this tour and Eskapas.

What our customers ask about Venice Tours & Trips
How crowded does Venice get during peak season?
During peak months (June-August) and Carnival in February Venice transforms into one of Europe's busiest destinations. By 10 AM key spots like St. Mark's Square and Rialto Bridge fill with tour groups and day-trippers. The less-visited neighborhoods of Dorsoduro and Cannaregio provide breathing room for travelers seeking a quieter experience. Accommodations in areas like Mestre or the Jewish Ghetto such as Staycity Aparthotels offer easy access to main sites while providing distance from the crowds. A simple strategy: plan visits to major attractions for early morning or late afternoon when foot traffic naturally thins out.
What are the best areas to stay in Venice for first-time visitors?
San Marco serves as an ideal base for newcomers to Venice putting major landmarks within walking distance. The Hotel San Cassiano exemplifies the classic Venetian hotel experience. Cannaregio appeals to travelers seeking local character with its mix of authentic restaurants and quiet canals. Budget-conscious visitors often opt for Mestre on the mainland where modern hotels provide regular water taxi connections to the historic center. The rooms in European hotels tend to run smaller than American counterparts but charm and location often make up for size.
How many days should I spend in Venice to see the main attractions?
A 3-4 day stay allows visitors to experience Venice's essential sights without rushing. This timeline comfortably fits visits to St. Mark's Square and Basilica the Doge's Palace a gondola journey and day trips to the glass-making island of Murano and colorful Burano. Most guided tours build in structured sightseeing along with free time to explore. The Hotel San Cassiano located directly on the Grand Canal provides a central point for daily excursions while maintaining easy access to water transportation.
What are the must-try local food experiences in Venice?
Venetian cuisine centers on fresh seafood and cicchetti (local tapas) found throughout the city's traditional bacari wine bars. The historic Rialto Market presents the day's catch while nearby bars serve small plates of local specialties. Key dishes include risotto al nero di seppia made with squid ink and baccalà mantecato a creamed cod spread. The Hotel Delfino in Mestre connects guests with food tours that highlight family-run establishments and traditional recipes passed down through generations.
What are some unique local experiences in Venice that go beyond the typical tourist attractions?
Venice reveals its authentic character in the workshops of Dorsoduro where artisans craft masks and maintain centuries-old gondolas. Morning visits to the Rialto Market show locals selecting fresh produce and seafood while Burano's lacemaking traditions continue in small studios among its rainbow-colored houses. The Hotel San Cassiano housed in a 14th-century palazzo demonstrates how historic buildings adapt to modern use while preserving their original character. Some of the best experiences come from simply wandering the back streets where small restaurants serve traditional cicchetti in authentic settings.
What's the best time of year to visit Venice?
Spring (March-May) and fall (September-November) offer the most pleasant conditions for exploring Venice. These months bring mild temperatures fewer crowds and better rates on accommodations. Summer visitors face temperatures up to 85°F (29°C) along with peak season crowds and prices. The shoulder seasons allow for comfortable exploration of the city's narrow streets and waterways. Many tours during these periods include special access to sites like after-hours visits to St. Mark's Basilica or tastings at the Venissa Vineyard on Mazzorbo island.
