Alaska Tours & Trips
Imagine visiting Fairbanks to learn about the town's history and culture. Ride snowmobiles through untouched snowy forests where only your tracks disturb the powder. Chena's natural hot springs are great for relaxing, and visit the Aurora Ice Museum, which is made entirely of ice. You could even go ice fishing and meet Santa in the Alaskan North Pole where it’s always Christmas.

Our spectacular Alaska trip was very good. The tour guide, Nick, did a good job of making sure everything went well and that our bus rides were not too long. Meals and included excursions were good. Our bus driver, Tamah, did a great job. We were able to visit some wonderful parts of Alaska in a short time and had fun doing so.
Spectacular Alaska!

Best tour companies for Alaska tours
Our travelers consistently highlight four tour companies that really deliver in Alaska. Trafalgar nails the details in their itineraries, and guides like Kris make sure everyone's comfortable while learning about the region. They've got the logistics down cold. G Adventures takes a more active approach - their Ultimate Active Alaska tour puts you right in the action. You'll kayak next to massive icebergs and trek across glaciers with CEOs (that's what they call their guides) like Ryan leading the way. It's hands-on exploring that gets you close to Alaska's raw nature. For those who want to camp under the northern stars, Bindlestiff Tours knows exactly what they're doing. Their guides Charlie, Marie and also Joe share deep knowledge about Alaska's wilderness while keeping the camping experience smooth and organized. They've perfected the art of comfortable wilderness touring. Globus rounds things out with polished operations and excellent guides - Dontae and Kip really shine on tours like Alaska's Iditarod and Spectacular Alaska. They explain local culture, spot wildlife and tell the stories behind what you're seeing. The whole experience flows naturally thanks to their expertise.

Best places to start your Alaska tour
Anchorage makes sense as your starting point with 62 different tour options heading out from there. Some folks prefer kicking off from Fairbanks with its 14 routes if they want to get closer to the Arctic Circle, while others choose Vancouver's 9 routes to mix in some Canadian experiences. A smaller number start from Kenai or Seward on the coast. Looking at our booking data, you'll want to lock in your plans about 4 months ahead - that's 120 days to get the dates you want, especially during peak summer season when wildlife is most active. Our experienced travelers often suggest May and September for lighter crowds and better rates, while still getting good weather and excellent wildlife opportunities. The Alaska Railroad connects the main spots nicely, and many guests combine train rides with flightseeing tours to get the full picture. Each season shows you a different side of Alaska's natural world, whether you're into cultural visits, wildlife photography or exploring glaciers.

Best time to visit Alaska
- Spring 2026
Spring brings prime whale watching and cultural experiences. Popular routes mix Prince William Sound cruising with land exploration - you'll spot migrating gray whales while looking out for seabirds, seals and also sea otters. The best tours begin in Fairbanks to catch late-season auroras before heading south in the Alaska Railroad's glass-dome cars. Our guests love meeting 'Aurora Dora,' a pro photographer who shows you exactly how to capture the lights. These spring trips usually stop at the Musk Ox Farm and Alaska Native Heritage Center, giving you deep cultural insights as winter shifts to summer.

- Summer 2026
Summer is when Alaska's outdoor experiences really shine. The most popular tours mix time in Denali National Park with Kenai Fjords cruising - you'll track moose, caribou, wolves and bears with naturalist guides, then watch glaciers calve into the sea. Several great options use Anchorage as a base, making daily trips along Turnagain Arm for Dall sheep and beluga spotting before visiting the Wildlife Conservation Center. Our travelers often mention loving Homer's tours, where you can take bay cruises for sea otters and eagles, check out local wineries and explore artist communities. The best summer tours build in free time for optional Denali flightseeing, glacier lake kayaking and also hiking to Exit Glacier.
- Fall / Autumn 2026
Fall tours combine Northern Lights viewing with Alaska's autumn colors. Popular routes start from Fairbanks, mixing aurora viewing at special lodges with Arctic Circle day trips. Our clients particularly like tours including Chena Hot Springs time - you can explore the Aurora Ice Museum and soak in outdoor thermal pools while waiting for the lights. Several good options include cultural visits to the Morris Thompson Center and Museum of the North, along with stops at the Trans-Alaska Pipeline and also North Pole. What makes fall special is fewer crowds, rich tundra colors and better chances to see the aurora against dark autumn skies.
