What people love about Hiking & Trekking Tours in Amalfi Coast
- Local Living Italy—Amalfi Coast
I had an amazing time on this trip. The agriturismo is just beautiful - amazing views, fantastic food, lovely staff. Our guide Vincenzo was fab (as were my fellow travellers) and the hikes and towns were all beautiful. I would happily go on this trip again!
- Amalfi Coast Walking - Hotel Risorgimento
Excellent accommodations and wonderful staff, very attentive and friendly. The sights were absolutely amazing and breathtaking and the food was the most delicious.
- Hiking the Amalfi Coast, Private Tour
This was a great way to see the Amalfi coast and Sorento. The hiking trails had beautiful views of coast and towns along the coast. Johnnie was our tour/hiking guide for the first three days and he was amazing. He has great knowledge of history, the local lore, plants and even knows locals we meet along the way. One of the most well versed guides we ever had. Highly recommend. Other parts of our tour need some attention to detail. TUI was always responsive but sometime dismissive of issues that came up. One day we had a tour set to start at 11:30 near by but a driver showed up at 8:00 am the called us saying we were late. He was planning to take us to Pompeii for a tour (which we went schedule for for two more days). With some phone calls it got sorted out but there TUI's response was something akin to "oh, glad you didn't get in the car with him...have a good day". Similar issue with meeting our guide to go to Capri. Our driver didn't know how the guide was and the guides don't carry a sign extra to identify themselves so we had no way to know and boarded the fairy to Capri without our guide. TUI called and told us our guide was still waiting for us back in Sorrento. First TUI said the guide was a woman, then one name and then another and finally that our guide was male. Eventually our guide hopped a different fairy and was able to meet up with us in Capri. Again TUI was dismissive and said something like "glad you found you guide". But the poor communication wasn't done there. Instead of us having our tickets to for the fairy to return to Sorrento, TUI had our guide carry them. So we didn't notice when our guide gave us our return tickets that it the tickets had us taking a fairy to Napoli (our belongings and hotel were still back in Sorrento). The guide caught it at the last minute and once again TUI's response was poor and dismissive "we see the guide fixed the tickets so your all set...." Several other examples but you get the idea. Accommidations were fair, not great. Multiple hotels that we stayed at said they had air conditioning but it is not like US air conditioning and really more like a fan that blows some slightly cooler air around. Plan to sleep warm at every hotel on this adventrue. This may just be an Italy thing given it was each hotel we stayed at but I don't remember places on a trip through Tuscany being hot like this. The sights were amazing. Johnnie our hiking guide was above and beyond excellent. Despite some of the issues, I would totally recommend this itinerary if you enjoy being out of the crowds some and don't mind being active for several hours of the day. The structure was nice with a hike/activity each morning and free time to roam the side-streets of the various towns on our own in the evening. I will think twice about using TUI again. In the end things did work out (as they kept saying) but at this price point, I don't expect to spend several days of my trip on the phone trying to get things corrected and sorted out.
