What people love about Luxury Tours in Egypt
- Around Egypt in Luxury
I would like to say thank you to our Tour Leaders Michael and John for being on hand for us when we were in Cairo. They worked very hard and long and sometimes very late hours. It was very reassuring that they were on hand - a very professional service. Also to our Tour Guides, Michele and especially Hassan Ashour who we met at Aswan. He was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. He was also very conscientious in ensuring that all in our group enjoyed themselves and covered what they wanted from the tour, especially as he had a group from three different countries to consider. He made us very welcome and we enjoyed his company. My wife and I both thought the Sound and Light show and meal at the Pyramids was not worth the money and seeing. Others in our little group that evening also thought the same, so maybe re-think this in your itinerary.

The trip was well planned, with excellent service provided by planet tours every step along the way. The guides, drivers, and coordinators were knowledgeable, welcoming, friendly, punctual and patient. I never had to worry about anything. The accommodations were great and Egypt is an incredible country to visit.
- Holiday to Egypt Pyramids & Hurghada Red Sea - 9 Days
A fabulous tour seeing all the major sites in Egypt. We highly recommend it. Madeline was fantastic at organising everything and communicating promptly with information or offering help throughout. We first stayed at Pyramisa Hotel in Cairo. We had read mixed reviews before arriving but we were pleasantly surprised. The rooms were clean and modern, the staff helpful and the breakfast was excellent. On our first day we visited the Saqqara Tomb which was a spectacular start. After this we went to the great pyramid and even climbed up inside. A very simple tomb but worth it to have been inside the pyramid. After this we enjoyed a 25 minute camel ride which was a fun experience, something our children really enjoyed. In the afternoon we had a late lunch at a buffet restaurant and the food was great. During this day trip we visited a carpet workshop and a papyrus showroom. I think we overpaid for some souvenirs so very quickly learnt to halve what salesmen were asking for. Day 2 was great too. The mosque was beautiful at the Citadel and the Coptic Church had a unique surprise. After another delicious buffet lunch our brilliant guide, Abdul, showed us around the most significant artefacts at the Museum. We had a free day after this so we decided to wander along Al Muizz in Islamic Cairo, very close to the Khan El-Khalili bazaar. We highly recommend going down the little side streets to get away from the mass produced products for something more authentic. For the the next part of our adventure we upgraded to the sleeper carriage on the overnight train to Aswan. This came with an evening meal at 9:30pm and a bread breakfast the next morning. The train is very dated but we definitely recommend the upgrade. The cruise was lovely. It was relaxing and great to watch the scenery whilst travelling back to Luxor. We opted for the Nubian village tour after seeing photos online. It wasn’t like that in reality and we wouldn’t recommend it. The other temple tours such as Philae, Kom Ombo and Edfu temples were worth seeing. Be careful with the food on the cruise ship. One of our children was quite sick after eating salad. Stick to the hot, cooked food. Water wasn’t complimentary. The evening we arrived in Luxor we walked to visit Luxor museum and the Mummification museum, another unexpected good addition to our trip. The following day, our knowledgeable guide, Mohammed, took us to the Valley of the Kings and Karnak temple amongst other sites. Lunch was simple but fine. We were supposed to get the bus to Hurghada but we upgraded the to a minibus which were glad we did as it allowed us to travel there earlier. The Hurghada hotel was nice but the food choice was limited and pretty much the same each meal. We tried the pool but it was just too cold to swim in. The jeep safari and sunset bbq was an optional trip. We were only able to ride on Quad bikes which were fun but extremely bumpy on the hard sand. Once at the ‘village’ there was a lot of hanging around while people smoked. We were given the option of a 50m camel ride and to look at a stall with some bracelets. After this we returned on the quads to the starting point. More waiting around before a buffet was served. By the time we got to the front there was very little food left and the guides shrugged their shoulders at us. We decided to leave to go back to the hotel to eat. This optional trip wasn’t what we expected and we were left very disappointed. Our bus back to Cairo was a 6hr drive with a 30min break. It was fine because we opted for an early morning departure. We had an additional day in Cairo and Madeline arranged for an extra perfume making tour. Overall, this was an awesome holiday and we have many great memories of our time in Egypt. Some useful tips… most entrance fees to sites are card only and tips are expected everywhere. We took some US dollars which we used for souvenirs but probably best to withdraw Egyptian pounds from an ATM when you need them. Remember sanitiser, wet wipes and tissues. Most plugs are 2 round prongs and WiFi isn’t great or always available. We recommend buying a data package before you arrive. We hope you enjoy your holiday as much as we did. Thank you Madeline for arranging this wonderful adventure for us.
