What people love about Budget Tours in India
- Heart of India (5 Destinations)
The guide Rahul was wonderful. He was very knowledgeable and very patient, answering all my questions. He went beyond and show me additional places I wanted to visit. Very pleasant experience overall!
- All Inclusive - 07 Days Golden Triangle India Tour with Sunrise Taj Mahal
I have just done an all inclusive 7 day golden triangle tour as a solo female traveller. I was so impressed with how everything was organised but my driver Mayur made the trip for me. He made me feel so comfortable, kept me informed, I felt totally safe, looked after and he even had snacks waiting every day in his car for me ! Nothing was too much trouble. The tour guides were all amazing but in particular for me was Chandan in Agra who knew all the amazing spots for photos of the Taj Mahal and took numerous photos of me as I was on my own. The hotels were basic but the Harwana Haveli in Jaipur was the homeliest place to stay with a small garden off my room and amazing authentic family recipes cooked fresh. It was a jam packed tour with the right amount of down time. Everything was exactly as stated on the website. Things of note would be tipping, I had not taken this into account and had to google amounts. The designated lunch spots were basic but buffet lunches included. Also the location of hotels are out of tourist areas if that is a consideration and the add ons after your itinerary where they take you to a stop to try and sell you items. I did purchase a few items but feel free to say no aswell. The tour is exactly as stated and highly recommended.
- Festival of Colors-Holi Special Golden Triangle in India With 4 Star Hotels
I would have put 5 stars, but there was only some mixup with the Holi celebration. It is not clearly explained that the celebration of Holi in the streets is dangerous for women due to possible sexual assault. So, Holi is celebrated in a hotel. We were all unaware of this and would have paid more for security guards in order to celebrate in the streets. Otherwise, our driver was fantastic. He even walked with us to a restaurant the night before Holi in order to ensure our safety. The guides at each of the sites were knowledgeable The hotels were 3 stars, as described in the information. They were clean and the staff were all friendly. The tour staff were very responsive The cost was VERY good for what you were provided. One person in our group was upset that we had to continue to pay for entrance fees, but that was explained in the information provided by the tour company. As mentioned, we would have even paid more if there had been a way to ensure our safety and still celebrate Holi in the streets. That is the only reason I didn't give this tour a 5 star... I had actually taken another tour with this company in the south. There was no confusion on that tour and I would give this company a 5 star for that tour I would still recommend people use this company... I will be coming back to India to visit other parts and I will, for sure, be using this company again
What our customers ask about Budget Tours to India
What is the average daily budget I can expect on budget tours through India?
Budget tours in India cost between USD 56-214 per day with most tours costing around USD 85-100 daily. This covers basic lodging some meals transport and guided visits. Recent travelers on the Dragon Trip's India Odyssey tour noted that it "was excellent value for money and allowed exposure to enriched Indian culture through well-planned excursions." Cities like Pushkar Varanasi and Jaipur offer good value with places like Hotel Rock Land in Delhi and Hotel Parador in Agra providing comfortable budget stays.
What's included in standard budget tour accommodation packages?
You'll stay in 3-star hotels and heritage properties on most budget tours. Common accommodations include Hotel Rock Land or South Gate in Delhi Hotel Parador or Taj Villa in Agra and places like Arya Niwas or Jai Niwas in Jaipur. A recent guest shared: "The hotels were mostly 3 stars and once 4 star mostly clean and with good breakfast. The hotel in Jodhpur and Jaisalmer were probably the best."
When is the most affordable time to visit India?
The best deals appear during October-November and February-March. These months bring lower hotel rates and smaller crowds at major sites like the Taj Mahal and Amber Fort. Prices peak in December-January while summer (April-June) offers bargains but comes with intense heat. Many travelers find October-November hits the sweet spot for weather and value. One visitor noted: "We visited in November and got the perfect weather to explore places like the Taj Mahal and Jaipur forts without spending a fortune."
What are the best budget-friendly areas to visit in India?
Look to the Golden Triangle (Delhi-Agra-Jaipur) and Rajasthan for the best value. Cities like Udaipur Jodhpur and Jaisalmer deliver affordable places to stay eat and explore. A recent traveler shared: "Rajasthan offers deep insights into traditional village life with budget-friendly options for accommodation and activities. Places like Udaipur's Lake City and Jaipur's bazaars allow experiencing local culture without spending much."
Are entrance fees to attractions included in budget tour prices?
Most tours don't include entrance fees in their base rates. Set aside USD 100-150 extra for sites like the Taj Mahal (USD 15) Amber Fort (USD 10) and Qutub Minar (USD 8). A traveler on the MTA Destinations tour shared: "While the tour price was very reasonable we had to pay separately for monument entries. However our guide helped us get the best rates and avoid tourist traps."
What are the best budget-friendly shopping areas in India?
Head to local markets for the best deals. Chandni Chowk in Delhi Bapu Bazaar in Jaipur and Colaba Causeway in Mumbai offer good value on souvenirs and local items. A recent visitor observed: "The markets recommended by our guide were much more affordable than tourist shops. I found great deals at Chandni Chowk and local bazaars in Jaipur where you can really bargain."
