Budget Tours & Trips to Portugal And Spain Reviews
- 18-Day Tour to Portugal, Andalusia and Morocco from Madrid
Excellent 18 day tour of Lisbon,Porto,Seville,Cordoba, Granada,Toledo,Salamanca,Costa delSol, Marrakesh,Casablanca,Meknes, Fez and more. Fascinating places made more fascinating by the excellent multilingual guides in all the cities we visited. Their knowledge and communication skills were great as was the overall organisation of the whole tour. Must give a shout out to Carmen and Lorenzo our guide and bus driver in Spain and Portugal. Our bus was always clean and cool until the ac failed so didn't get the chance to say thanks and farewell to Lorenzo as he had to take the bus back to Madrid to get the ac repaired.. The hotels were all 4* and were clean and comfortable. A great way to see multiple destinations but not a lot of time could be spent in each place.as a full itinerary. Tour Radar and Julia Tours Excellent!
- Grand Iberian Adventure: Spain and Portugal
The tour itself was great, a terrific learning experience. The fact that I was not informed that we were not travelling with Escapas but with Julia Travels, caused us anxiety and disappointment. We were collected from the train and transported to the hotel so that was encouraging. Arriving at our first accommodation, they had trouble finding our booking and had never heard of Escapas. They did not give me the envelope of information so when it came to the afternoon tour to Toledo we knew it was on but our notes did not give a time or the address of the meeting place. We had asked the morning tour guide for Madrid but she couldn't help, saying we had free time not a tour. After franticly trying to get the information through tour radar messaging and emailing and by ringing the phone numbers for Escapas(which did not answer) we missed Toledo which we had been looking forward to. That evening another couple returning from Toledo told us they had received an envelope of information from the hotel desk. After some time questioning staff, our envelope was found, and there was all the information needed. Julia Travels (or Escapas) had used my middle name as a surname. An annoying start.

What our customers ask about Budget Tours & Trips to Portugal and Spain
What's the average daily budget I can expect for accommodations on budget tours in Portugal and Spain?
Budget tours in these countries typically cost between $131-165 USD per day. This covers basic needs like lodging transport and select meals. You'll find accommodations such as the Hotel Praga in Madrid or Hotel Roma Lisboa in Lisbon offering 3-4 star comfort. These hotels often sit outside city centers but connect well to public transport networks. A TourRadar traveler notes: "The hotels were of good quality and value even though some were located 20-30 minutes from city centers."
When is the most affordable time to visit Portugal and Spain?
November through March offers the best value while avoiding summer crowds and peak prices. Cities like Porto and Lisbon reduce their rates during these months. The cooler season brings shorter queues at major sites like Granada's Alhambra and Barcelona's Sagrada Familia with occasional low-season prices. A TourRadar reviewer notes: "We went in March and found great deals on hotels plus much shorter lines at major sites."
How much should I budget for optional activities?
Plan for $200-300 USD over a 10-14 day tour for extra experiences. Popular choices include watching flamenco in Seville ($45 USD) enjoying Fado with dinner in Lisbon ($65 USD) or tasting wine in Porto ($35 USD). A TourRadar reviewer shares: "Optional activities added about $250 to our total cost but were worth it for the cultural experiences."
What attractions and entrance fees are typically included in budget tours?
Standard inclusions cover main sites like Granada's Alhambra Palace Cordoba's Mosque Seville Cathedral and Porto's Douro River cruise with wine sampling. A TourRadar traveler confirms: "The included activities were well worth it - especially the Alhambra visit and Douro cruise." Extra costs apply for additions like flamenco shows (40-70 USD) or Sintra day trips (40 USD).
What are the most budget-friendly areas to explore in Portugal and Spain?
Porto Salamanca and Granada offer better value than larger cities like Madrid or Barcelona. Portugal's Alentejo region and Spain's Andalusia present cost-effective options with reasonable lodging and dining prices. Travelers note: "Porto and the surrounding areas were surprisingly affordable with excellent food and wine options at reasonable prices."
Are entrance fees included in budget tour prices?
Most tours cover entry to key sites including Granada's Alhambra (40 USD) Seville Cathedral (25 USD) and Porto wine cellars (20 USD). Evening entertainment and special shows usually require additional payment. One TourRadar review states: "Having major entrance fees included was great value though we paid extra for evening entertainment."
