Barcelona

Take Bus 24 from Passeig de Gràcia to Park Güell to skip the steep uphill walk.

Madrid

Seville

"The walk along Avila's complete city walls was a highlight - but wear good shoes as the stones can be slippery." Your day ends in Salamanca where you can watch the sun set over the golden Plaza Mayor.

Fátima & Lisbon
Travel through the Serra da Estrela mountains into Portugal. Visit the Fátima sanctuary before spending two days in Lisbon. "Book the first tram of the day to Belém Tower to avoid hour-long queues." Get to the Jerónimos Monastery right when it opens at 10 AM to beat the crowds.

Seville
Stop at a cork factory in Azaruja on your way to Seville. Visit Plaza de España in the morning before the heat kicks in. "The Santa Cruz quarter is magical but easy to get lost in - pick up a paper map as phone GPS can be unreliable in the narrow streets."

Tangier
The ferry ride takes about 2.5 hours. Pack motion sickness medication if you need it. "The Grand Socco market is fascinating but overwhelming. Having a local guide is essential here." Take the afternoon to enjoy the views from Cap Spartel.

Costa del Sol & Granada
Head back to Spain's coast. Spend time in Marbella relaxing on the beach or walking through the old town. For Granada: "Book your Alhambra tickets months in advance and opt for early morning entry - the light is magical and crowds are thinner."

**Iberian Explorer Tour – A Fast-Paced Gem for Time-Savvy Travelers** As someone who frequently joins guided tours, I’ve come to appreciate the delicate balance between structure and spontaneity—and the Iberian Explorer Tour nailed it. This itinerary is ideal for travelers who want to cover a lot of ground in Spain and Portugal without sacrificing quality or cultural depth. Our tour director, Tania, was a standout. She brought a wealth of ideas and local suggestions to the table, and handled our group with grace and professionalism—even when some participants routinely ignored her instructions for break times, lunches, and bus departures. Her patience and poise didn’t go unnoticed. Nuno, our driver, was equally impressive. He navigated every twist and turn with skill and ensured we arrived promptly at each destination. His calm demeanor and reliability made the journey smooth and stress-free. The tour itself was well-paced and thoughtfully curated. My personal highlight was Granada, especially the winding alleys of the old town—an atmospheric maze of history and charm. One evening in Lisbon, I opted out of the group dinner and instead explored Bairro Alto with a fellow traveler. We wandered through Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara and Igreja de São Roque before enjoying a relaxed meal at Tapa Do Bairro Alto & Bar. It was a perfect blend of local flavor and spontaneity. I’d absolutely recommend this tour to friends who are short on time but eager to experience the essence of Iberia. It’s a whirlwind, yes—but a beautiful one.

The only Place we didn't like was Tangier . Walking tour is a waste of time everything is closed the place is dirty in general , flies , roaches , trash everywhere. The Hotel Hilton was the only nice thing

Certainly a very different style of coach touring than I’ve previously experienced, in that the main Spanish ground operator VPT has many segmented experiences that they then stitch together to make long journeys for each set of clients. Which means that every few days a new set of folks would join as others left, also we were required to change coaches and guides so that we could complete our given itinerary. For the Moroc section a Moroccan ground operator was used who collected us in Spain. It sounds complicated but it really wasn’t as the organisation was spot on and clear communication was given by our guides. Every coach, VPT guide of local guide or in fact a new handling company we’re all exactly where we expected them to be and right on time. And meeting new people from all over the World on a daily basis only added to the enjoyment. All of this excellent organisation (& nice new comfortable coaches with excellent safe & personable drivers) came at an extremely good price. Not sure quite how they fitted all the meals, guided inclusions and excellent well placed hotels into such a keen price, especially considering that Tourradar, Go Tours, Mundimaric and VPT all ‘clicked the ticket’ on the way through. Well done VPT.
