What people love about Hiking & Trekking Tours in Mount Everest
- Everest Base Camp Heli Trek
I had an amazing time on the Everest Base Camp Heli Trek. The helicopter ride was incredible, and the trek itself was a great challenge. The guides were knowledgeable and supportive, and the porters were friendly and helpful. The accommodations were comfortable and provided everything we needed. I would definitely recommend this trip!
- Everest Base Camp - Guided *TREK* (All Inclusive)
It was an amazing trek to Everest Base Camp with very helpful guides and a great group. Straight away from the onboarding calls we were given a lot of information and advice to manage the altitude so that we were well prepared and safe throughout the hike. The landscape changed day by day as we went up, from forest, to shrubs, to grasslands and eventually to just rocks from the glacier. The villages also changed as we went up, but we had good options for accommodation all the way there and back. The weather was clear and each day we could see the mountains all around, including many views of Everest. I'm now looking forward to taking on the next adventure, wherever that may be!
- Everest Base Camp Trekking
We, 2 Dutch brothers, 64 and 71 years old, did our 12 day EBC trek from the 12th of March 2025. On the day of our departure, there were no flights from Kasthmandu to Lukla. Very fortunately, we did manage to get onto the last helicopter that day. While it rained steadily in the afternoon during our trek to Phakding, it turned out this was the last day we had any precipitation. From then on it was glorious sunshine! And the trek, although hard work, was glorious from beginning to end. The views got better and better- from simply stunning to incredibly stupendous. Our guide, Santa Tamang was brilliant- very experienced (100+ times to EBC) he offered the right kind of guidance and support. In addition, he provided great insights into the local people and customs. It helped that his English was at least as good as ours!
What our customers ask about Hiking & Trekking Tours & Trips in Mount Everest
What is the best time of year to trek to Everest Base Camp?
The optimal periods for Everest Base Camp treks fall between March to May and October to November. During spring (March-May) the trails come alive with blooming rhododendrons while autumn (October-November) brings stable weather and clear mountain views. At the Everest View Hotel in Namche Bazaar temperatures range from 15-20°C (59-68°F) in these periods creating comfortable hiking conditions.
How physically demanding is the Everest Base Camp trek?
The trek requires solid physical preparation with daily hikes of 6-8 hours over 12-14 days at elevations from 2800m to 5545m. The route presents significant challenges such as the steep climb to Namche Bazaar (3440m) and navigation of the Khumbu Glacier near Base Camp. Guides recommend a minimum of 3-4 months of cardiovascular training before starting the trek to handle the demanding terrain and altitude changes.
What kind of accommodation can I expect during the trek?
Accommodation along the trail consists mainly of teahouses and lodges. Before departing places like Hotel Thamel Park in Kathmandu offer modern comforts. The teahouses provide twin rooms with shared dining spaces and bathrooms. Higher locations such as Gorak Shep (5164m) offer more basic lodging with communal facilities and minimal heating options.
What meals are included on Everest Base Camp treks?
Tour packages typically cover three daily meals blending Nepali Tibetan and Western cuisine. Morning starts with simple but filling options like porridge eggs and toast. Evening meals feature local staples such as dal bhat (rice and lentils) along with noodles and soups. The teahouses around Namche Bazaar are particularly known for their varied menu options though food costs tend to rise with elevation.
How are porters and luggage arrangements handled during the trek?
Tours generally assign one porter for every two trekkers with a 15kg per person limit. The Lukla flight restricts luggage to 10kg checked and 5kg carry-on. While porters handle main bags trekkers carry daypacks with essential items. Companies like G Adventures help arrange storage for extra belongings at Kathmandu hotels such as Hotel Marshyangdi.
What level of altitude sickness prevention is provided during the trek?
The trek includes strategic rest days for acclimatization particularly at Namche Bazaar (3440m) and Dingboche (4410m). Guides use oximeters to check oxygen levels and adjust hiking speeds as needed. Tour packages include medical support and evacuation services with guides trained to recognize and respond to altitude-related issues.
