The tours from Pernes-les-Fontaines through the Vaucluse now start early with plenty of stops in shady villages and cool-off breaks by hotel pools. Lots of people go for the Côtes du Ventoux circuit - you get easy rides through Vacqueyras vineyards and optional tough climbs if you're feeling strong. We give everyone GPS units and paper maps since phones tend to overheat in the Provençal summer sun. Most guests mix morning rides with afternoon culture - maybe cycling to Château Pesquie for wine tasting then relaxing in old Mazan.

What's the best way to see all the different sides of Provence?
You'll find there's quite a range of ways to take in Provence's beauty really something for everyone. Cycling through vineyards is really popular and routes like Cotes Du Ventoux and Hilltop Villages of Provence let you pedal past gorgeous vineyards olive groves and these amazing little villages. If you're after something more adventurous the Gorges du Verdon is incredible it's actually called Europe's Grand Canyon and it's perfect for hiking and kayaking. The "Provence and the French Riviera" tour takes you right through there and the views are just stunning.
What kind of local cultural experiences can you actually do in Provence and where do you find them?
The cultural scene in Provence is incredibly rich and there's so many ways to dive right in. You can actually join painting workshops in Arles where Van Gogh created his masterpieces which is pretty special. The food culture is amazing too with cooking classes all over places like Lyon and Avignon. Wine lovers will enjoy tasting sessions in Cotes du Rhone and Cotes de Provence the vineyard tours are fantastic. The weekly markets especially in Isle sur la Sorgue are just buzzing with activity antiques and local produce everywhere. There's this great tour "Active & Discovery on the Rhone with 2 Nights in Paris" that includes painting workshops and it's really worth checking out.
What natural areas can you visit outside the cities and how do you get to them?
Provence has some incredible natural spaces just waiting to be explored. The Luberon Valley is this beautiful natural park filled with vineyards orchards and these amazing villages perched right on hilltops you can drive there or join organized tours. The Camargue Natural Park is really special it's this huge wetland where you'll spot all sorts of birds including pink flamingos best seen by bike or jeep safari. The Alpilles mountains are perfect for hiking with these hidden trails and views that'll take your breath away. That "Active & Discovery" tour I mentioned actually includes a guided bike ride through the Camargue it's a great way to see it.
What are some of the lesser-known routes around Provence and why do people love them?
The Cézanne Route is really special it's actually France's only classified road and exploring it by e-bike is just fantastic. It runs from Aix-en-Provence to Sainte-Victoire and you're literally following in Cézanne's footsteps seeing the exact landscapes that inspired his art. The e-bikes make it easy and you get these amazing views of old chapels villages and lavender fields. There's also this incredible Corniche Route around Lake Verdon winding through the gorges with these dramatic cliffs rapids and the most beautiful turquoise water you've ever seen. You can experience the Cézanne Route on that "France Drive Riviera & Provence in a Porsche" tour it's pretty special.
How do people usually get around Provence and what's the transport situation like?
Getting around Provence is actually pretty straightforward. The high-speed trains connect all the major spots like Paris Lyon and Avignon which makes it really easy to reach the region. Rental cars give you that freedom to explore the smaller villages and countryside at your own pace. The local buses are great for getting around towns and cities and if you're doing organized tours they often use these nice luxury minivans. E-bikes are becoming really popular especially in places like the Luberon Valley they're eco-friendly and just fun to use.
