Wow what a trip!! Athens is a magnificent place to visit and deserves a trip on its own but when you combine it with Santorini it becomes awesome! I liked the punctuality of the agency with the welcoming people who were at the airport to greet us and take us to our hotel (in the very center, mind you!) We would have liked a few more days in Athens but we knew it from the start. He meals were a delight and we were advised where to go and buy souvenirs without spending a fortune. Then, Santorini is a place like no other in the world. The caldera, the lovely pathways the rocks, it is like you're on a different planet. Travel zone got us tickets to the cruise. Then back to Athens for another full day. Our only regret is that we didn't book for a longer stay.

The caldera views are absolutely breathtaking from the water and there's really no better way to take it all in than on a cruise. You've got options from basic daytime trips right through to those gorgeous sunset catamaran tours if you're feeling fancy. The Caldera Classic Sailing Tour is particularly good starting at Red Beach then taking you swimming at White Beach past the Black Mountain and Light House before hitting those amazing Hot Springs. If you prefer staying on land the rim walk from Fira to Oia gives you these incredible panoramic views across the Aegean that just go on forever.

When's Really the Best Time to Visit Santorini?
Peak season June through August is fantastic for swimming and beach time but yeah you'll pay more and deal with bigger crowds. April-May and September-October are actually really nice times to visit with great weather fewer tourists and better deals on everything. One smart traveler really liked how flexible the dates were in shoulder season saying it made planning so much easier.
