The country is beautiful. The group was great. The food choices were monotonous and not especially healthy - fast food from grocery stores and tex mex. The tour guide, while excellent logistically, calm, pleasant and able to take care of our flat tire, his knowledge of the area and history, folklore and science of the area and is not up to the level of tour guides I'm used from other tour companies that use locals who live in the area we're touring. Hotel accommodations were ok.

Our trip was great! Judd from Intrepid travel made the entire trip so easy and was so patient and quick to adapt to all of our requests. We had no issues the entire week. Accomondations were usually a LaQuinta and every day we had something cool planned to see.

What our customers ask about Zion National Park Tours & Trips
What are the must-do hikes in Zion National Park?
Zion National Park's trail network caters to hikers of every ability. Beginners will find the gentle paths of Riverside Walk and Lower Emerald Pools accessible while experienced hikers can test their limits on the challenging Angels Landing or Observation Point trails. The Narrows leads visitors through the Virgin River between soaring rock walls while Hidden Canyon delivers an adventurous route with chain-assisted sections. One TourRadar traveler commented: "The Emerald Pools trail was breathtaking and our guide took us to less crowded viewpoints that weren't in any guidebook." Convenient bases like Zion Canyon Inn or Watchman Campground put these trails within easy reach.
How crowded is Zion National Park and how can I avoid the crowds?
With more than 4 million annual visitors Zion sees its heaviest foot traffic from June through August. The best strategy for a quieter experience is to visit during March-May or September-November and start hiking before 8am. Trails like Watchman and the East Rim tend to see fewer visitors. One TourRadar traveler suggested: "We started our Hidden Canyon hike at sunrise and had the trail almost to ourselves for the first two hours - it made such a difference to the experience." Zion Mountain Ranch serves as a strategic location for early park access.
What are the best times of year to visit Zion National Park?
The most favorable conditions in Zion National Park occur during spring (March-May) and fall (September-November) when temperatures stay moderate and visitor numbers decrease. The Springhill Suites in Springdale provides a comfortable base during these prime seasons. Summer brings intense heat often exceeding 100°F in the main canyon. Winter sees occasional snow and icy conditions on elevated paths. As one TourRadar traveler noted "May was a great time to do this tour - temperatures were mild and the parks didn't seem too crowded."
What dining options are available in and around Zion National Park?
The gateway town of Springdale offers an array of eating establishments from casual eateries to refined restaurants. Within the park the Zion Lodge Restaurant serves meals alongside canyon views. Guests at Cable Mountain Lodge can easily walk to local favorites including Whiptail Grill and Zion Canyon Brewing Company. One TourRadar traveler recommended "The restaurants in Springdale were excellent - especially the local brew pub after a long day of hiking."
What accommodation options are available near Zion National Park?
Lodging near Zion spans from hotels to camping sites. Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort features modern lodge rooms while Watchman Campground connects visitors directly with nature. In surrounding towns Quality Inn Kanab and Best Western Red Hills serve as practical starting points. Book accommodations well ahead for stays between March and October. A TourRadar reviewer mentioned: "The Watchman Campground was perfectly located with amazing views of the canyon walls and the facilities were well-maintained."
What should I pack for a visit to Zion National Park?
Key equipment includes durable hiking boots layered moisture-wicking clothing sun protection (hat sunscreen sunglasses) water containers and a daypack. The Narrows hike requires specialized water shoes and walking sticks. Hotels like the Majestic View Lodge provide space to organize gear. One TourRadar traveler advised "Bring good hiking boots and lots of layers - the temperature variation between morning and afternoon was significant."
