Very satisfied. Two small points that, although good, could be improved: 1. list of equipment sent beforehand was generic. Temperatures were in the the range of 25-27 and we were told to bring hat and gloves ! 2. Food at times was a problem especially lunch. Although we knew it was not included, finding where to buy and where to go in the evening for dinner was at times a challenge.

Weather was not on our side for our trip so we weren't able to see the northern lights, but we had such a good time doing the other activities that the disappointment was minor. That was down to Arctic Range Adventures and all of the guides we had. They really made it a fabulous experience. From the moment we were picked up at the airport, all of the guides were friendly, positive, well organised, and accommodating. They also went out of their way to make the time at the aurora viewing centre fun when the weather wasn't cooperating (the fireworks on NYE were a lovely touch). Highlights were the dog sledding (thanks Elevation Sled Dogs!) and seeing the wildlife preserve, but we also enjoyed the small town tour. Unfortunately we weren't able to do the sight seeing flight or snow mobile activity, but we still felt that we got what we wanted from the trip.

Best tour companies for Yukon and Northwest Territories tours
Arctic Range Adventure really shines when it comes to Northern Lights tours, and our travelers consistently point out two guides in particular - Jessica and Shungo. They know exactly where to position groups for the best aurora views and make the whole experience more meaningful with their expert knowledge. If you're looking to paddle the Yukon River though, Ruby Range Adventure has built quite a reputation for their canoeing trips. They're particularly good with pre-trip communication, gear organization and riverside logistics. The interesting thing is that while most of their trips run very smoothly, we've had a few customers mention inconsistent experiences with certain guides - so it's worth asking specifically about who'll be leading your particular trip. Both companies know their specialties well: Arctic Range focuses on creating really solid aurora viewing experiences, while Ruby Range has mastered the art of river trips. The key difference comes down to their core strengths - Arctic Range's guides excel at night sky interpretation and photography tips, whereas Ruby Range's team shows their expertise in river navigation, camping setups and paddling techniques. Just keep in mind that with Ruby Range, you might want to inquire about your specific guide when booking. This extra step can help ensure you get one of their more experienced team members, especially for longer river expeditions.

- Winter 2025 / 2026
Our winter Yukon tours focus on the Northern Lights, with popular 3-4 night packages from Whitehorse. You'll watch for auroras from cozy heated cabins with hot drinks on hand, and our guides are great at helping you get those tricky night photos. Most of our travelers see the lights multiple times during their stay. The days are packed with Whitehorse gold rush sites, wildlife spotting at the Yukon Wildlife Preserve and soaks at Eclipse Nordic Hot Springs. For something special, we offer lodge stays on Marsh Lake that mix aurora viewing with snowmobiling and ice fishing. The real winter adventure runs up the Dempster Highway across the Arctic Circle - you'll pop champagne at the crossing before heading to Inuvik and Tuktoyaktuk to experience Inuvialuit culture firsthand.

- Spring 2026
Spring brings milder temperatures to our aurora tours. The Vancouver departure package is particularly good value - you'll fly over the Coast Mountains on your way to Whitehorse for nightly aurora viewing from heated shelters. Our guides explain the science behind the lights and help sort out camera settings. During the day, you can explore historic sites around town and add optional trips to spots like the wildlife preserve.

- Summer 2026
Summer means endless daylight and ideal conditions for getting active outdoors. Our hiking tours take on trails like King's Throne in Kluane National Park, with clear views of glaciers and alpine lakes. Canoe options range from day trips near Whitehorse to proper river expeditions on the Yukon, where you'll learn traditional paddling and camp under the midnight sun. Families love the Nisutlin River trip's relaxed pace with plenty of fishing and evening campfires. The bigger tours combine Tombstone Park hiking, Dawson City gold rush history and also First Nations cultural visits.

- Fall / Autumn 2026
Fall tours mix summer activities with early aurora chances. You can take scenic flights over Kluane National Park, paddle the Yukon River, soak in hot springs and maybe catch the Northern Lights too. The Yukon Wildlife Preserve is particularly good this time of year - the animals are active and easy to spot against the autumn colors.
