As a solo female traveler I always felt safe and had a wonderful time. the sites met and exceeded my expectations. Traveling between locations was very interesting because the country side areas are very rural with many small plots of fields that are tended by hand not much farm machinery. My drivers were amazing. The way drivers are aware of all the vehicles around them and all of them can move within inches of each other and never touch is impressive. Gwalior was my surprise locations with its beauty and connections, historically, to other locations on the trip. I did get to see tigers in the wild which was one of my main reasons for the trip. It was well worth the time in the air and airports to make this trip.
India Wildlife with Taj Mahal Tour - E

We recently completed our Gir National Park and Tiger Safari tour booked through TourRadar, with our local operator Alkof, and it was an unforgettable wildlife experience overall. From the moment we arrived, the Alkof team was there to greet us at the airport, which made the start of the trip smooth and reassuring. Gir National Park was a highlight, and we were incredibly lucky with our sightings—we saw multiple Asiatic lions in the wild, which was truly special. That said, Gir is not as well set up for Western guests as some of the other parks. The team did their best to accommodate us, but having an English-speaking driver during this portion of the trip would have made the experience much more comfortable and informative. The rest of the journey was exceptional. Our driver for the main portion of the tour was outstanding—professional, proactive, and always willing to accommodate our requests. He really enhanced the overall experience with his initiative and flexibility. Wildlife sightings exceeded expectations across the board. In Kanha and Panna National Parks, we had fantastic tiger sightings, along with memorable encounters with a leopard, jungle cat, and even a sloth bear. It truly felt like a comprehensive Indian safari experience. A special mention goes to Ken River Lodge in Panna, which was wonderful. It had a very authentic safari feel—almost reminiscent of an African safari lodge—with beautiful views overlooking the river. It was a perfect place to relax and take in the natural surroundings. Overall, this tour delivered incredible wildlife encounters and memorable moments. With a few small improvements in communication during the Gir portion, it would be close to perfect. We would still highly recommend this trip to anyone looking for a rich and rewarding wildlife safari in India.

What our customers ask about Wildlife Tours in India
When is the best time to visit India's wildlife parks and sanctuaries?
India's wildlife parks welcome visitors from October to May with optimal viewing conditions and open access to most national parks. During March and April tigers are particularly active in Ranthambore and Kanha National Parks. Leopard enthusiasts will find the best viewing at Sariska Tiger Reserve between November and February. A TourRadar traveler noted: "We got lucky to see a tiger in our morning safari at Ranthambore. The experience was outstanding and our nature guide was a real expert."
Which are the must-visit wildlife parks in India for tiger spotting?
For tiger encounters head to Ranthambore Bandhavgarh or Kanha National Parks. Bandhavgarh stands out with the highest concentration of Bengal tigers in India while Kanha's landscapes inspired "The Jungle Book." Visitors can enhance their experience with stays at properties like Syna Tiger Resort in Bandhavgarh. As one TourRadar traveler noted "Kanha was the best national park to visit with fantastic tiger sightings and professional naturalist guides."
What wildlife species can I expect to see during these tours?
Beyond the Bengal tigers visitors regularly spot leopards sloth bears wild dogs and numerous deer species throughout India's parks. Kanha National Park offers glimpses of the rare barasingha while Satpura National Park houses unique species like flying and giant squirrels. Bird enthusiasts will find over 370 species at Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary. A TourRadar traveler shared: "Apart from tigers in Ranthambore we saw leopards sloth bears wild boars sambar deer and an incredible variety of bird species. Our naturalist guide provided fascinating insights into the park's ecosystem."
How many safari rides should I plan for the best wildlife viewing?
Plan for 2-3 safari rides per park to increase wildlife viewing opportunities. Tours like the Indian Wildlife Odyssey typically schedule two daily excursions (morning and afternoon) over 2-3 days at each location. As one TourRadar traveler shared "We had four safari rides at Ranthambore which gave us excellent opportunities to spot tigers and other wildlife." Safari schedules usually begin at 6:00 AM and 3:00 PM with lodges like Ranthambore Regency handling logistics.
What type of accommodation can I expect during wildlife tours?
Lodging options span from high-end wilderness resorts to well-appointed safari camps. Bandhavgarh features the Meadows Resort and Syna Tiger Resort while Kanha provides choices like Mogli Resort and Earth Lodge. These properties blend local hospitality with modern comforts. A TourRadar traveler mentioned "the accommodations were excellent especially Mount Valley Resort in Ranthambore which offered great comfort after safari drives."
How long should I plan to stay in each wildlife park?
Each park deserves 2-3 nights to properly explore its wildlife and surroundings. The Indian Wildlife Odyssey tour demonstrates this with its structured stays: 2 nights at Pench 2 nights at Kanha and 3 nights at Satpura. A TourRadar traveler shared "Three nights at each location gave us enough time to do multiple safaris and really experience the parks." Some properties like Bandhav Vilas in Bandhavgarh provide extended stay packages with additional activities.
