We enjoyed all the stops and side excursions. Our Tour Director, Caroline Van Der Meer was very knowledgeable and took very good care of us. Some suggestions: If you have an extra day, before or after the tour, take a day trip to Mechelen. A British colleague suggested it and we were favorably impressed. The Cathedral to St. Rumbold is as beautiful as any in Florence Italy. The trip to Trier was very interesting as well and the local guide there was very good as well. We enjoyed Waterloo but some may not feel it is worth the travel. It felt a lot like Gettysburg and there were many similarities in the battles. All in all a very good trip.

- Summer 2026
Summer trips through Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg offer a perfect mix of culture and outdoor discovery. Our most popular multi-day journeys take you from Amsterdam's Rijksmuseum, where you'll find masterpieces like Rembrandt's Night Watch, to peaceful canal cruises and walks in medieval centers. These thoughtfully crafted routes blend urban exploration with countryside experiences - you might start your day in the museum district, then head to Volendam's harbor for fresh seafood and local cheese sampling. When visiting Luxembourg, travelers explore the American Cemetery Memorial and walk through the serene Alzette river gorge. The itineraries strike a nice balance between guided portions, such as discovering Brussels' Grand Place, and independent time for finding hidden cafes and local spots. Longer tours include hands-on activities like chocolate workshops in Brussels, visits to authentic Trappist breweries, and also guided walks through Bruges' medieval quarter. Summer's mild temperatures and long daylight hours make these experiences particularly enjoyable, with plenty of time to absorb both cultural landmarks and local life.

How do you get around Belgium and the Netherlands easily?
The train system is fantastic here - you'll love how easy it connects all the major cities like Amsterdam Brussels Bruges and Antwerp. It's actually one of the best ways to explore these countries because you get to see beautiful countryside views while traveling comfortably between destinations. You can hop on a scenic route from Brussels to Amsterdam and even stop at traditional Dutch farms and craft centers along the way.
Do I need to know Dutch or French to get by?
You'll be fine with English especially in tourist areas though it's nice to know some basic French if you're heading to Wallonia the French-speaking part of Belgium. Dutch is the main language in the Netherlands and you'll hear Flemish throughout Flanders but honestly most locals speak great English. Quick tip - if you're taking guided tours a 5-10 euro tip for two people is pretty standard.
Where can I find the best local food in Belgium and the Netherlands?
You've got to try Belgian waffles fresh hot frites with amazing sauces and of course that famous Belgian chocolate - Bruges is especially great for chocolate shops and traditional restaurants. In the Netherlands don't miss stroopwafels these incredible thin waffles filled with caramel syrup and definitely try some authentic Gouda cheese right in the city where it's made. You can actually taste both during bike tours between Amsterdam and Brussels.
When's the best time to see the Dutch tulips?
If you're hoping to catch the tulips in bloom head to Keukenhof Gardens between late March and mid-May - it's absolutely spectacular. You can explore Zaanse Schans where historic windmills stand among tulip fields or bike through the countryside for amazing views of the flowers. The "Best of Holland Belgium and Luxembourg" tour takes you through Keukenhof's 32 hectares of tulips daffodils and hyacinths it's really an incredible sight.
