We had a great time on our bike/ barge trip! The food was outstanding as was the cook. The barge was unique and functional, but the washing machine was broken and had to be replaced, dishwasher was broken the entire trip. The captain seemed indifferent to us, after being very helpful pre trip. The guide was friendly, knowledgeable and eager to share the areas history. The bikes were certainly less than expected and not in good operating condition. The host was on his first trip and the deckhand/assistant varied between friendly and aloof and moody. The trip plan had to change because of lock work, which is certainly understandable, but there also seemed to be many delays with the need to find water. We moored near several interesting villages, we often moored in ugly industrial sites! Our entire group was quite surprised by the liquor charges. The trip information stated that wine and beer would be available at reasonable prices on the boat. All the wines were €30 plus. We did not find that reasonable! corkage fee was €10 to bring any outside bottles! Overall, we enjoyed the experience, but it could have been better

Fantastic cruise. Crew were great. Food was excellent. Excursions - Guided Tour of Paris and Landing Beaches (very informative, great guides). On evening of departure, with the upheaval of the French government and threat of lock closures, we were impressed with how staff quickly organized all passengers with coaches/early breakfast for departure from ship at 8 a.m.

Best tour companies
Based on customer experiences, three river cruise operators stand out - each with their own strengths. Our travelers consistently praise Tours of Distinction's Seine River programs, with specific mentions of Cruise Concierge Steven who goes above and beyond. Over at TourRadar, while some folks hit snags during booking, the actual bike and barge tours turned out well thanks to a flexible boat owner who adapted to guest needs and preferences.Uniworld's Paris & Normandy route also earned solid feedback from past guests. They particularly liked how beautiful the ship looked, noted that the food quality stayed high throughout the journey and found the crew genuinely friendly and helpful. The consistency in service quality seems to be a real strong point for them.

- Spring 2026
The Seine Valley really comes alive in spring with gardens in full bloom. Our spring cruises time the Giverny visits just right - you'll see Monet's Japanese bridges draped in purple wisteria and the first water lilies opening up. We stop at Vernon to see its old timber houses, check out Rouen's astronomical clock and also explore Les Andelys' riverside paths when the weather's perfect for walking or biking. Many travelers pick spring to visit Normandy's D-Day beaches before summer gets busy, plus you get to see all the apple trees blooming across Calvados.

- Summer 2026
Summer gives us lots of daylight for evening cruises past Paris's famous sites. The 8:30 PM sailings are really popular - you catch both sunset and the monuments lighting up. We've got active options like cycling along the river, hiking up to Richard the Lionheart's old castle and also walking tours through medieval Rouen. The ships serve multi-course French dinners right on deck while you watch villages and countryside drift by. You'll stop at Honfleur's busy harbor, see Caudebec's gardens in full bloom and also visit Giverny when Monet's gardens look their absolute best.

- Fall / Autumn 2026
Fall brings nice temperatures and rich colors to the Seine Valley. Our autumn cruises focus on local food traditions with visits to apple orchards, Calvados makers and also cheese producers in Normandy. You'll find fewer crowds at places like Versailles' private apartments and Monet's gardens. The route includes Rouen's old quarter where fall colors make the timber buildings look even better, plus Les Andelys where the light's just right for photos of Château Gaillard against the autumn sky. Lots of our guests choose these trips because they mix cultural visits with seasonal food experiences really well.

- Winter 2026 / 2027
Winter brings a special mood to Seine River cruises, especially during Christmas season. The December voyages let you see Paris's lights reflecting off the water while staying cozy aboard. Our boats dock right by the Tuileries Garden Christmas market - perfect for trying mulled wine and hot chestnuts. The routes take you to Rouen's Cathedral Square with its 70 different market stalls, Les Andelys and also Château Gaillard. Many of our guests tell us they love the intimate Christmas Eve dinner onboard before joining midnight mass at Rouen's Gothic cathedral if they choose. These winter trips include nice stops at Martainville Château and Honfleur's old fishing port, both looking quite magical with holiday decorations.

What Makes Seine River Cruises So Special?
You know what's amazing about Seine cruises? They take you right through Paris's heart showing off those iconic landmarks like the Eiffel Tower Notre Dame and the Louvre all lit up beautifully at night. There's really nothing quite like it in Europe the Seine's got this incredible history as an old trade route and so many artists have painted it through the years. If you're looking for the full experience the Treasures of Europe tour from London to Rome includes this fantastic dinner cruise where you can see the Eiffel Tower while you dine.
When Should You Plan Your Seine River Cruise?
Spring and fall are really lovely times to go especially April-May and September-October when there aren't so many tourists around. Summer's great too with lots of daylight for sightseeing but you'll definitely pay more and deal with bigger crowds June through August. Winter's actually pretty special with all the Christmas markets though some outdoor spots might be closed. There's this wonderful Christmas in the Seine Valley cruise in December that's really festive.
How Do You Pick the Right Seine River Cruise Company?
Each company's got its own style really. Bateaux Mouches has these great traditional boats with open decks perfect for photos of Paris. If you're after something more modern with nice dining options Bateaux Parisiens is your best bet. Want something more intimate? Vedettes du Pont Neuf runs smaller boats that give you a more personal experience.
