What people love about South America Tours for Seniors
- Brazil & Argentina Escape with Santiago
The tour, the tour director, and the hotels were excellent. However, we will NEVER use Tourradar again due to the misinformation that you gave us prior to our trip. Examples: First, we were told that we could not bring a second piece of luggage without paying an extra daily fee- and that the carry on had to be no bigger than 12x11x6. We worked very hard to comply with that strict standard. So, imagine our surprise and anger when EVERY other tour member had a large checked suitcase, a standard carry on suitcase with wheels, and a personal bag much larger than those measurements! Secondly, we asked 3 times (April 24, 25, 27) if we would be flying on Aerolineas Air during our trip. Three times we were either just quoted the paragraph from the brochure that said, "if you fly on Aerolineas Air..." or outright told that we would not. So, we were pretty angry when we did in-fact fly on Aerolineas Air. So we had to pay the extra weight fee. (If we had been allowed to divide our luggage between our large suitcase and a carry on, we would not have been over their 17kg limit.) Lastly, your brochure said that there would be headsets throughout the tour. Turns out there was not one headset an ANY tour. Many times, especially when we were on a busy street, we could not hear a thing that the tour guide told us. We paid a lot of money to learn what we could about these places that we would never visit again, so we were really cheated out of what we paid for.

What our customers ask about South America Tours for Seniors
What is the typical age range for senior tours in South America?
Most senior tours in South America draw travelers between 55 and 70 years old. The average age tends to hover around 57 across different tour types. Some tours like the Brazil & Argentina Escape attract younger seniors around 57 while the Premium Argentina & Brazil tour draws an older crowd averaging 65 years. As one TourRadar traveler noted: "The tour group had a great mix of active seniors who could really appreciate both the cultural aspects and natural wonders." These groups often connect travelers with similar interests in exploring South American highlights from Machu Picchu to Rio de Janeiro.
When is the best time for seniors to visit South America?
Plan your South American adventure during March-May or September-November. These months offer pleasant temperatures and fewer tourists at major sites. Cities like Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro are particularly nice in spring (September-November) with temperatures reaching 20-25°C (68-77°F). As one TourRadar traveler commented: "We went in October and had perfect weather for sightseeing - not too hot or humid." For places like Iguazu Falls March and April bring clear skies and less rain making it easier to explore outdoor landmarks like Christ the Redeemer without weather concerns.
What type of accommodation can seniors expect on South America tours?
Senior tours prioritize well-located comfortable hotels with good access to city centers. In Rio de Janeiro you'll find yourself at places like the Arena Leme Hotel near Copacabana Beach. Buenos Aires offers the elegant Alvear Palace Hotel in the refined Recoleta area. As one TourRadar traveler noted: "The hotels were all excellent quality with great locations and amenities for seniors - from the Wish Resort at Iguazu Falls to comfortable city hotels." Most hotels provide elevators air conditioning on-site dining and easy access to local attractions.
What medical facilities and support are available during South American tours?
Large cities throughout South America maintain modern well-equipped medical facilities. Tour operators choose hotels like the Sheraton Santiago based partly on their proximity to quality healthcare. Tour directors carry first aid supplies and know local medical resources. As one TourRadar traveler shared, "Our guide knew exactly which clinics to use when someone needed medical attention in Lima and had great relationships with quality providers." Travel insurance covering medical care remains essential for all tours.
What dining arrangements are made for seniors with dietary restrictions?
Tour companies coordinate with restaurants and hotels to meet specific dietary needs. Higher-end tours book venues like Lima's Casa Garcia Alvarado known for accommodating various food requirements. Guides notify restaurants ahead of time about dietary restrictions. As one TourRadar traveler shared "Our guide ensured all restaurants were notified in advance of dietary requirements and there were always suitable options available." Most tours balance local cuisine with familiar options keeping portions and spice levels appropriate.
