Budget Tours & Trips to Thailand, Cambodia And Vietnam Reviews
- Highlight of Southeast Asia in 10 Days - Halong Bay/ Siem Reap / Bangkok
Our Guides were very knowledgeable. We had a group tour (around 20 people) in Vietnam and private tour in Cambodia and Thailand. There is a lot of walking- so bring comfy shoes. Most days we took advantage of a massage at the day's end, as they are very inexpensive and there are plenty of locations to pick from. Our hotels were very nice and clean- we did upgrade to 4 star hotels. The food was delicious and plenty of variety for a vegan traveler. We opted for a cultural dinner and show in Siem Reap and dinner on the 84th floor at the Bangkok Sky Tower. Favorites were overnight stay on the bay, the floating market, and wandering the neighborhoods near our hotels. Overall a great experience and many things to see and do.
- Splendid of Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand 18 Days
This trip was absolutely amazing! And, the punctuality and kindness of all of our drivers was outstanding. The majority of our tours were private - a wonderful surprise. Also, not being in a set group with one tour guide allowed us free time to experience each location on our terms. Dat and everyone on the Tourradar team went above and beyond to accommodate our special requests - extra days, hotel upgrades. I will most definitely travel with Tourradar again. Two thoughts ... I would not consider the hotel in Phuket a 4-Star hotel - while the staff was super thoughtful and accommodating, there were no additional services (spa, etc.), and our room was very damp and musty. They did try to fix it - worked temporarily. The Concierge was apologetic. My second thought would be to include more cultural activities (a meal with a family or staying in a small traditional village vs touristy excursions (bamboo boat, floating market). Also, the individual tour guides, like Doum at Angkor Wat, were fantastic - super knowledgable and friendly and patient.
- Circle Indochine 16 Days - Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos
Overall, it was a fantastic trip. Apart from one bad hotel experience in Ho Chih Ninh City, the rest of the trip was pretty much flawless. Dat and the team at PrestiGo Asia did a fantastic job to make this a memorable trip for us. In fact, they turned it into a private tour for us since there were 8 of us in our group and this provided us some with some flexibility in our schedules on the planned events although we didn't change any of the core trip as outlined. Furthermore, Dat was kind enough to treat us out to Dinner in Hanoi after having had a bad experience with the Hotel in Ho Chih Minh City. The tour and the guides were all individually very welcoming and extremely knowledgeable in their cities and surrounding areas and the transportation was very comfortable in all the cities we visited. I/we thoroughly recommend this unique experience and suggest using PrestiGo as your operator as they listen to your needs and go out of their way to make it a pleasurable experience.
What our customers ask about Budget Tours & Trips to Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam
What is the average daily budget needed for meals not included in Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam tours?
Budget travelers should set aside 15-25 USD per day for meals not included in tour packages. Local food scenes offer excellent value with street food costing 2-5 USD and casual restaurants ranging from 5-15 USD. Find authentic Vietnamese pho for 2-3 USD or classic pad thai in Thailand for 3-4 USD. Most budget tours cover breakfast and select group dinners. A TourRadar traveler shares: "Food costs were very reasonable - we could get delicious local meals for under 5 USD at markets and street stalls in places like Hanoi's Old Quarter and Bangkok's Chinatown."
What are the best budget-friendly areas to stay in major cities?
The key to affordable stays lies in vibrant backpacker districts. Bangkok's Khao San Road features budget spots like Nappark Hostel starting at 10 USD for dorm beds. In Hanoi head to the Old Quarter where Central Backpackers Hostel offers wallet-friendly rooms while Siem Reap's Wat Bo Village has spots like Babel Guesthouse. According to a TourRadar traveler: "Staying in the backpacker areas of each city helped save money - everything from accommodation to food was cheaper and it was easy to meet other travelers." These areas also put you close to local markets and street food.
When is the most affordable time to visit Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam?
Time your visit during April-June or September-October to find the best deals. During these shoulder months tourist numbers drop at major sites like Angkor Wat and Ha Long Bay leading to better rates. Bangkok hotels often cut prices by 30-40% in May versus peak season. The trade-off is some rain and higher humidity. A TourRadar traveler notes: "I went in May and while it was hot and occasionally rainy we got great deals and didn't have to battle crowds at temples like Wat Pho in Bangkok or the Cu Chi Tunnels near Ho Chi Minh City."
What essential entrance fees should I budget for at major attractions?
Set aside funds for key sites: Angkor Wat requires 37 USD for a day pass Bangkok's Grand Palace costs 15 USD and the Cu Chi Tunnels charge 10 USD. Check your tour inclusions as many cover certain entry fees like Angkor Wat. One TourRadar traveler reports: "While some attractions seemed expensive like Angkor Wat the experience was absolutely worth it. Many other temples and sites like Wat Pho in Bangkok or Hoan Kiem Lake in Hanoi were very affordable or free."
What are some budget-friendly day trips from major cities?
Day trips offer good value for exploring beyond city limits. Visit floating markets near Bangkok for 15-25 USD take a Tam Coc trip from Hanoi for 30-40 USD or see the Killing Fields from Phnom Penh for 15-25 USD. Hostels like Mad Monkey in Phnom Penh organize group excursions to help cut costs. A TourRadar traveler shares: "The day trip to Tam Coc from Hanoi was incredible value - we got transport boat rides bike rental and lunch for around 35 USD."
How much should I expect to spend on local transportation in cities?
Getting around won't break the bank. Local buses cost 0.50-2 USD while tuk-tuks and motorbike taxis run 2-5 USD per ride. Longer taxi trips typically cost 5-10 USD. Bangkok's BTS Skytrain charges 1-2 USD per journey and Ho Chi Minh City motorbike taxis average 1-3 USD. A TourRadar traveler suggests: "Using local transport like the bus in Hanoi or shared tuk-tuks in Phnom Penh saved us a lot of money compared to private taxis."
