Wilda, traveled in December

- 12 Days Self-drive | Everything you must see in Iceland Ring Road Tour
Everything was arranged perfectly! From picking up the rental car, to the accomodations, to the itinerary. There was plenty of time between the suggested stops to explore any hikes or views we wanted to see. The suggested itinerary hit all the hot spots with lots of good suggestions for restaurants and alternate stops. It was well paced and so smooth. I can't imagine having to make arrangements for a different hotel every night or even when and where to stop. I thoroughly enjoyed this calm, relaxing vacation. The more I remember it the more I appreciate the calm journey that Marina travel planned for us. I can't imagine a better Iceland trip. Thank you Marina travel!
- 6 Day - Around Iceland Adventure
it was amazing trip and highly recommended
- 7 Day - Complete Iceland
The tour was great, with great people. The USB charging onboard the bus was amazing and well appreciated. Our tour guide Alvero was great, but wasn't really one to talk about the history of Iceland or really explain what things were, so I don't feel like I actually learned much about Iceland while I was there. the accommodations were mostly quite terrible. The bathrooms were terrible, and no real choices for meal selection, pretty much a vegetarian dish of some sorts, a lamb dish, and that's it. The hotel on the 6th night was disgusting and rude, and if pickup hadn't been there the next morning I would've found a new hotel. Our guide for the 7th day of the tour was amazing (I'm sorry but I forget his name, older Icelandic gentleman, white hair, heavy accent, blue eyes, super nice) as he was right into history and making sure we all knew the sights we were looking at and their importance. Kind of wish I had him for my whole tour. Alvero was a lot of fun and I really enjoyed my time, but I was disappointed in not really learning much.
What our customers ask about Nordic / Scandinavia Small Group Tours
What makes small group tours in Nordic/Scandinavia special compared to larger tours?
Small group tours in Nordic/Scandinavia limit participants to 8-15 travelers providing a more personal experience. At locations like Stuðlagil Canyon in Iceland small groups can photograph the basalt columns without rushing through crowds. In Norway's Lofoten Islands travelers get individual attention during RIB boat trips to Trollfjord. A TourRadar traveler noted: "The small group size made it possible to stay at unique accommodations like the traditional turf houses in Iceland's highest settlement."
What type of accommodation can I expect on a Nordic/Scandinavia small group tour?
Accommodations range from boutique hotels to local guesthouses that showcase regional character. In the Lofoten Islands groups stay in harbor-view cabins near Svolvær with the Svolværgeita mountain as backdrop. Stockholm offerings include the historic Scandic Continental near the old town district. One TourRadar traveler mentioned: "The intimate properties we stayed at like Hotel Hamar in Iceland and Icelandair Hotel Akureyri offered much more authentic experiences than large chain hotels."
What kinds of transportation are used on Nordic/Scandinavia small group tours?
Tours use minibuses and vans that can reach remote spots like Iceland's Diamond Beach or deep into Norway's Lofoten Islands. The smaller vehicles allow easy transfers to local ferries for exploring places like Sweden's Vrångö Island. A TourRadar traveler shared: "Our compact Mercedes minibus could navigate narrow mountain roads that larger buses couldn't access giving us unique perspectives of the Norwegian fjords."
How much interaction is there with local communities on small group tours?
The small group format creates natural opportunities to connect with locals through visits to places like Copenhagen's Street Voices social enterprise meeting microbrewery owners in Breiðdalsvík Iceland or joining traditional fika coffee gatherings in Alingsas Sweden. One TourRadar traveler shared: "Our small group size allowed us to have dinner with local families and learn about traditional Nordic lifestyles in a way that wouldn't be possible with larger groups."
What unique experiences are possible with a small group tour in Nordic/Scandinavia?
The intimate size allows stays at distinctive properties like Hotel Rjúkandi in Iceland's Borgarnes region close-up Northern Lights viewing in Tromsø and direct engagement with Sami communities. TourRadar reviews highlight exclusive activities like private glacier walks on Sólheimajökull and traditional bread-making classes in Swedish Lapland experiences that larger groups can't access.
How flexible is the itinerary on small group tours in Nordic/Scandinavia?
Small groups can adapt quickly to weather changes and group preferences. In Vatnajökull National Park guides adjust hiking paths based on group abilities while Norwegian fjord boat trips can shift timing for best conditions. One TourRadar traveler commented: "Our guide could be spontaneous like when we spent extra time watching whales in Eyjafjordur bay because they were particularly active that day."
