Very informative, friendly people

A great adventure on your amazing continent. Our guides Maxwell and Stephen explained Africa is not a holiday or safari and it sure was an adventure. Their professionalism, knowledge, culinary skills and a basic willingness to share were more than we expected. Guides are swapped each tour and we were exceptionally lucky to experience the skills of these two guys. On one occasion safety was an issue but Stephens cool calm manner made us feel comfortable when the hippo tried to join our makoros. Also Maxwells handling of an injured Black Mamba on the road showed his empathy with animals in general. As the "oldies" in our tour group we were very well looked after. Going beyond the requirements of the tour when my husbands suitcase failed to arrive in Livingstone before the tour left, they made sure we stopped at the appropriate shops to purchase another wardrobe!! When the bag finally arrived in Livingstone they collected it and had it waiting at the finish of the tour for us. Well done Sunway. Ewen & Sue Haglund
- Cape Town to Victoria Falls Adventure
This is an excellent tour but it's certainly not relaxing! We had 2 brilliant leaders who were very knowledgable and looked after us very, very well. Very long days, only occasionally did we reach our overnight accommodation with time spare to relax/swim. Lots of like-minded travelling companions, many of whom had done several GAdventure tours in the past and all of them were very good company.
What our customers ask about Botswana and Namibia Small Group Tours
What is the best time for small group travel in Botswana and Namibia?
The prime season for small group travel in these countries runs from June through September during the dry season. This period sees wildlife clustering around water sources in Etosha National Park and the Okavango Delta making animal spotting more predictable. The Namib Desert and Sossusvlei regions welcome visitors from April to October with moderate temperatures and cloudless skies. While the Chobe River area offers year-round opportunities groups often prefer May to October when large elephant herds converge near the water. A TourRadar traveler notes: "We went in August and the weather was perfect for game viewing with animals easy to spot around waterholes."
What are the accommodation options on small group tours in Botswana and Namibia?
These tours blend different lodging styles to match various comfort levels and locations. Properties range from the high-end Sanctuary Chobe Chilwero Lodge with river views to the exclusive Sonop Lodge which features 10 luxury tents in the Namib Desert. The Okavango Delta focuses on private tented camps while places like Nunda River Lodge combine wilderness proximity with modern amenities. A TourRadar traveler notes: "The mix of accommodation styles from luxury lodges to camping under the stars in the Delta gave us the perfect balance of comfort and adventure."
What unique benefits do small group tours offer in the Okavango Delta?
The Delta experience becomes more personal with small groups particularly during mokoro (dugout canoe) excursions where each boat carries just 2-3 people. This setup allows quiet approaches to wildlife minimizing disturbance to elephants hippos and birds. Groups can access exclusive bush camps like Namushasha Lodge and spend quality time with local polers. A TourRadar traveler confirms: "The small group size meant we could silently observe animals drinking at waterholes and get amazing photo opportunities in the Delta without disturbing them."
What is included in meal plans for small group tours in Botswana and Namibia?
Full board meals come standard on most tours featuring local and international dishes. Waterberg Wilderness Lodge serves traditional Namibian cuisine while camping trips include guide-prepared meals using regional ingredients. Lodges near Chobe National Park like Nambwa Tented Lodge offer riverside dining with a mix of African and global flavors. A TourRadar traveler reports: "The food quality was consistently excellent from bush breakfasts in Etosha to elegant dinners at Victoria Falls."
How does small group travel enhance the cultural experience in Botswana and Namibia?
Smaller groups create natural opportunities for genuine local interactions. Visitors can spend time in San Bushmen villages in the Kalahari meet Himba communities near Opuwo and experience daily life along the Caprivi Strip. Places like Nunda River Lodge employ local residents and offer cultural programs. According to a TourRadar traveler: "Our small group size made visits to local communities feel more authentic and less intrusive allowing for genuine cultural exchange."
How far in advance should I book a small group tour to Botswana and Namibia?
Booking windows of 6-12 months are recommended for these tours especially for travel during peak season (July-October). Popular accommodations such as Divava Okavango Resort and Namutoni Lodge fill quickly for small group bookings. A TourRadar traveler suggests: "Book well ahead for the best small group experiences particularly if you want specific lodges during prime wildlife viewing months."
