This tour was a fantastic taste-test of Northern Thailand. We got doses of history, culture, and modern attractions. There was a lot of time spent on the road as we traveled between destinations, but even that wasn't terrible because we got to see lots of the countryside. Our guide, fondly called "Rainy", was absolutely fantastic! She helped us book additional services, alternative day tours, and helped us find different attractions in whatever area we happened to be. She also divulged a wealth of information about different historical/cultural sites along the way. I left the tour a day early because I wanted to stay in Chiang Mai long enough to see the Lantern Festival over New Year, and Rainy helped me get a ride to my hotel even as the rest of the tour was boarding the night train back to Bangkok. Overall a wonderful tour, lots of fun, but give yourself enough financial wiggle room for a few extra activities and you'll enjoy it even more :)

Our overall experience for this tour was good, but we were not happy at all about the hotel we were put in in Chiang Mai namely Imm Thapae Hotel. This hotel is so basic that it's an insult to what we are used to and what we have paid for this tour: it looks like a prison, feels like a prison, the breakfast was rubbish, there was no hot water in our shower and tap (someone came to repair it after my complaint but still it didn't give hot water when we used it!). The floor was so slippery that I fell over and had almost broken my arm! We were provided with only one bath towel for each for everything. They didn't even provide enough toilet tissue (and the one provided was in such bad quality that I decided to buy our own toilet rolls!). It's such a pity that an otherwise pleasant tour had to end up this way!

The daily schedules were excellent. Drivers and tour guides came to the hotels and were waiting for us every morning, which made the whole trip feel easy and stress-free. Breakfast at the hotels was good, and the people we met – staff, guides and locals – were friendly throughout. We spent three days in lively Bangkok, then flew to Chiang Mai for temples and a trip to Mae Sai and the Golden Triangle. The final days on Koh Samui, including the beautiful Ang Thong Marine Park, were the perfect relaxing finish. We were very happy and satisfied with the trip and still remember every single moment – the temples, the scenery, the islands and the warm welcome. Thank you TourRadar for a well-organised 11-day Thailand adventure. We highly recommend this itinerary to anyone who wants a mix of cities, culture and beaches with reliable support each day.
