Marina, our tour director, was fantastic. She was organized, professional, patient and made the trip fun. We saw so many wonderful sites. Many on my bucket list. Our travel companions were great. Hotels were comfortable. Breakfasts and dinners were delicious. Overall a memorable trip.
- America's Music Cities featuring New Orleans, Memphis & Nashville (New Orleans, LA to Nashville, TN) (2026)
What fun! Lots of great experiences and a few surprises. Well organized, and a good mix of guided excursions and some free time. Wonderful hotels. Enjoyed Graceland and Grand Ole Opry. RCA Studio B tour was memorable. Didn’t get to hear any live Blues music in Memphis, though. Will definitely tour with Collette again!
- Rhythms of the Road (7 destinations)
Would’ve loved it to have been longer! An extra night in each main city would’ve been great for extra activities

Most Southern USA tours attract travelers between 55-60 years old. Tour booking data shows that solo travelers make up more than 50% of participants. The pace and structure work well for mature travelers looking to connect with others while exploring places like Charleston's Historic District or Nashville's Broadway. Recent travelers often mention the balance between organized activities and independent exploration. A TourRadar traveler noted "Sandra and Ronnie were both outstanding hosts...we thoroughly enjoyed our experience."
What are the best seasons for solo travelers to visit Southern USA?
The most comfortable times to visit are Spring (March-May) and Fall (September-November) when temperatures are mild and tourist areas are less crowded. Most travelers book tours in April-May and September-October. Spring brings 70°F/21°C temperatures perfect for walking tours in Charleston and Savannah where gardens are blooming. One traveler's feedback helps with timing: "Wrong time for tour. Two weeks late for summer weather and 2 weeks early for fall colors."
How much free time is typically available on Southern USA tours?
Tours provide about 2-3 hours of free time each day plus occasional full free afternoons. This allows time to explore Nashville's music scene in the evening or walk through Savannah's historic squares at your own pace.
