Absolutely loved this tour! My dad & I embarked on the accommodated version of the 12 day Okavango Delta & Etoshia Express Safari and had the time of our lives. Our guide & team leader Pili Pili was a wonder, so efficient & knowledgeable and possibly the kindest, friendliest human I have ever met. He also cooked us the best fried chicken I have ever had. The amount of wildlife we saw was amazing, you will not be disappointed. The water hole at Halali was a surreal once in a lifetime experience. The food on our trip was simple but delicious & although our guides did most of the cooking it was expected that everyone help out prepping & cleaning up. The accommodations were all comfortable and warm showers were available at all but 2 nights. For those camping it was colder than anticipated so make sure you have adequate sleeping bags and warm clothes for at night. We definitely appreciated having a room with comfy beds after the long days. Especially with my dad who is 73, it was nice to not have to put up & take down a tent every day. The only difficulty I had was that a couple of the days were long driving days 10+ hrs. The trip covers a lot of territory & they are big countries so unless you’re spending a lot more money & flying it’s just something you have to do. If you have a bit more time, picking a tour that spends an extra night in places so that you have more time to take it all in would have been nice. The days are jam packed with early starts and late evenings. There was wifi pretty much everywhere, not always great reception but enough to check in with loved ones. We had a nice small group with only 8 guests so there was ample room on the tour bus & everyone had their own window seat to take in the scenery. Rest stops are mostly “bushy bushy’s” which basically means peeing behind a bush, so be prepared. Not sure how well it would work out if you had a bad tummy…. My only other suggestion is to use ATM’s. The instruction info said to bring US $$ which we did, but there were ATM’s that everyone was using and it was easier & more convenient than trying to change money over as each country uses a different currency. Also most excursions took visa and then you also don’t need to carry a big wad of cash around with you. I would highly recommend this tour. The people they have working for them are so amazing, they really go out of their way to ensure that you have your best vacation ever.

What our customers ask about Botswana and Zambia Tours & Trips
What are the must-visit highlights in Botswana and Zambia?
Two natural wonders stand out in these neighboring countries: the UNESCO-listed Okavango Delta in Botswana with its web of waterways and the thundering Victoria Falls in Zambia. Chobe National Park houses the world's largest concentration of elephants (approximately 50,000) while Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park offers close encounters with protected rhinos. Visitors often base themselves at properties like the Sedia Hotel in Maun or Chobe Safari Lodge to explore these areas. A recent TourRadar traveler shared: "The game drives exceeded my expectations. Seeing the Elephants Giraffes Lion with her kill Baboons and SO MUCH MORE so close up is something I will never forget."
When is the best time to visit Botswana and Zambia for wildlife viewing?
The dry season from June to October offers prime wildlife viewing as animals gather around water sources in Chobe River and Okavango Delta. The Savuti Marsh becomes a wildlife hub during these months drawing large herds of zebra and wildebeest followed by predators. Victoria Falls reaches peak flow from March to May though wildlife viewing near Livingstone remains consistent year-round. Morning game drives in Chobe during July-August provide excellent elephant encounters while September-October brings increased predator activity in Moremi Game Reserve.
What types of accommodation can I expect in Botswana and Zambia?
The lodging options span from high-end lodges to well-appointed safari camps. Zambia's Royal Livingstone by Anantara sits along the Zambezi River while Botswana features properties like Chobe Game Lodge with river views and the intimate Camp Xakanaxa in Moremi Game Reserve. Camp Okavango lets guests experience delta life without sacrificing comfort. Guest feedback often highlights the blend of wilderness and luxury at these properties particularly praising Chobe Game Lodge's service and Camp Okavango's water activities.
How do I get between Botswana and Zambia?
The recently completed Kazungula Bridge serves as the main connection point linking Kasane (Botswana) and Livingstone (Zambia). The 88-kilometer journey runs on well-maintained roads with most tours providing air-conditioned transport. Regular flights connect major hubs like Maun and Livingstone. A TourRadar traveler noted: "The border crossing at Kazungula was smooth and well-organized with our guide handling all the formalities."
What is the best way to see Victoria Falls when visiting these countries?
While the falls are visible from both nations the Zambian side through Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park offers distinct viewpoints. The Royal Livingstone Hotel provides direct falls access through its grounds. Combine a morning guided walk with an evening Zambezi River cruise for a complete experience. The "Devil's Pool" on the Zambian side during dry season ranks as a favorite among TourRadar travelers.
How much does a typical safari experience cost in Botswana and Zambia?
Daily rates range from USD 250-500 for mid-range safaris to USD 1000+ for luxury experiences covering lodging meals game drives and guides. A Chobe day excursion from Kasane to Victoria Falls costs around USD 155. Longer 8-14 day tours exploring multiple parks run between USD 2050-3900. Park fees add USD 20-50 per person per park.
