Bhutan Tours & Trips
Picture yourself flying over the Himalayas to the magical city of Paro, and visiting the historic Tashichho Dzong in Thimphu, where Bhutan's government meets in style. Hike up to the Buddha Dordenma statue that looks out over the valley, see the old Punakha Dzong at the point where two rivers meet, and trek to the famous Taktsang Monastery, perched on a cliff 3,000 feet above the valley floor.

To visit Bhutan was a long awaited wish come true. It was indeed the best holiday therapy form my busy lifestyle. The best thing i did on tour was witnessing the people of Bhutan and experiencing "Gross National Happiness "for real , in the world where GDP is overruling their country Bhutan was unlike them. The simplicity of people i came across and the way they are grounded to their cultural roots were fascinating. During my stay i got to connect with nature and it was mesmerizing to see one of the endangered bird species " Black necked Crane" in Phobjikha .isn't it wonderful? . It was a great experience to mender along the valleys of Paro, Thimphu and Punakhka. Everything(hotels food places i wanted to see) was on mark. Thank you World Tour Plan for making my best tour in Bhutan.Would surely visit second time. Highly recommendable!

This was an amazing tour from beginning to end. Full of cultural richness, spiritual experiences and the ability to connect with the local people. The food and hotels were some of the best I have ever experienced in all of my world travels and I greatly appreciated the helpfulness of my guide and driver who were always open to my requests and questions. I would highly recommend this tour.

My time in Bhutan with Devin and Norbu was magical. They were very attentive and told me so many stories about the history and legends of the country. I am glad I did the 8 day trip because I got to see so many beautiful Dzongs. I really enjoyed the Phobjikha Valley where I saw the rare and beautiful black necked cranes. The tiger’s nest hike was an extraordinary dream. But I enjoyed the over the mountain hike into the Phobjikha Valley even more, as in 5 hours Devin and I saw no other other humans and were treated to beautiful rhododendron forests and fields of yaks at the top. Once I expressed my desire to eat where they ate, the lunches improved. I got to have amazing momo’s everywhere. There is not a lot to do at night, so bring a book about Bhutan to supplement what you are learning each day. What a beautiful, peaceful country and what a joy it was to have a safe and funny driver and such a knowledgeable flexible guide.

Best tour companies for Bhutan tours
Travelers who book with Bhutan Acorn Tours & Travel consistently tell us about the personal touches that make their trips special. Their guides Lobzang and Pema get mentioned often in feedback - they really know their history, culture and hidden spots across Bhutan. The company's quick responses and ability to adjust plans on the fly means you're not locked into rigid schedules. What stands out is how they handle the small details while keeping the big picture smooth - whether that's tweaking an itinerary, finding the right local experiences or making sure everything flows naturally from day to day. Luxury Holidays Nepal gets good marks too, especially for how well they organize their trips. Their guides have a friendly approach and know how to keep things moving without feeling rushed. Both companies understand that successful tours need that mix of careful planning, local knowledge and also flexibility. They've built solid reputations by focusing on what matters to travelers rather than just ticking boxes on an itinerary.
Best places to start your Bhutan tour
Most visitors touch down in Paro since it's got the main international airport and the much-photographed Tiger's Nest Monastery. A handful of tours kick off from the capital Thimphu after a quick drive from Paro. Here's something crucial to know - you'll want to lock in your plans about 110 days (3.5 months) before traveling. The country keeps tourism numbers limited and you'll need time to sort out the special visa and get your preferred dates, especially when festivals are happening or weather conditions are ideal. Spring brings rhododendrons painting the valleys in color from March through May and autumn offers those crystal-clear mountain views between September and November. Many of our guests love timing their visits with local Tshechus (festivals) where you can watch traditional mask dances and really dive into authentic Bhutanese culture.

- Winter 2025 / 2026
Winter visits to Bhutan bring something really unique, especially in Phobjikha Valley where black-necked cranes make their home from November through March. Our guests love watching these rare birds at the Royal Society for Protection of Nature center and exploring the valley paths on foot. Without summer crowds, you can take your time at cultural landmarks like Punakha Dzong. Many travelers tell us about their joy seeing snow fall while walking through small villages, and trying out traditional hot stone baths that locals use to stay warm. Winter trips usually spend extra hours inside Thimphu's craft workshops and museums, plus evening stays at farmhouses where families welcome you to help prepare Bhutanese meals by the fireplace.

Many spring routes include easy walks through pine woods to monasteries like Tango, where you can spend time with monks surrounded by blooming trees. The mild weather works perfectly for outdoor activities like walking Punakha's suspension bridge and discovering traditional villages. Several tours line up with spring festivals where you'll see masked dancing and join local celebrations.

Summer lets you experience Bhutan's greenest season, with perfect weather for hiking and meeting locals. Our travelers often talk about walking through stepped rice fields to reach temples like Khamsum Yuelley Namgyal Chorten when the paddies shine bright green. It's also an ideal time to visit high places like Tiger's Nest Monastery, with just the right temperature for the uphill walk. Many summer routes stop at local markets to try seasonal produce, and visit farmhouses where families are busy with their traditional farming work.

September through November trips are favorites for mountain views and comfortable hiking conditions. Our guests often mention autumn's colors in Bumthang Valley and the crystal-clear views from Dochula Pass. The weather's perfect for longer walks on the Trans Bhutan Trail sections, where you'll meet villagers getting ready for winter. What Natural Areas Can You Visit Outside the Cities?
Jigme Dorji National Park is absolutely stunning it spreads across several districts and has some incredible Himalayan trekking routes. You'll need a guide and permits but it's worth it to see mountains like Jhomolhari Jitchu Drake and Tserimgang. Phobjikha Valley's another amazing spot it's protected and those endangered Black-Necked Cranes are just incredible to see you can get there by road with your guide.
