8 Days in Northern France, incl. Paris and Normandy

Paris
Make the most of your first day before the 19:00 cruise departure. Start at the Louvre (book online to avoid long lines) and walk through Tuileries Garden to Place de la Concorde. Spend your afternoon in the charming Marais district before boarding at Port de Grenelle near the Eiffel Tower.
- Days 2-3
Rouen (Overnight)
Cruise the Seine during the morning and reach Rouen by 15:00. The walkable medieval old town centers around the 600-year-old Gros Horloge (Great Clock). A recent visitor shared: "The narrow cobblestone streets around the cathedral are magical after sunset when tourists clear out." Start day 3 at Rouen Cathedral to see morning light through the Gothic windows. Visit Place du Vieux-Marché, the site of Joan of Arc's martyrdom.

Explore this Norman town starting with the Notre-Dame church's intricate Renaissance facade. Take a bike ride along the Seine using the ship's e-bikes (reserve early as availability is limited). Visit the Museum of Norman Tradition after 15:00 when crowds thin out.
- Day 5
Les Andelys & Vernon
Stop at Les Andelys to see Château Gaillard's ruins. The 25-minute uphill walk requires good shoes as the path can be slippery. Afternoon brings you to Vernon, your gateway to Giverny. Take a 15-minute shuttle to see Monet's water lily ponds after 16:00 to avoid tour bus crowds.

Vernon to Paris
Spend this cruising day relaxing as you watch the Île-de-France scenery pass by. Get to the sun deck around 17:30 to watch Paris light up as you sail into the city at sunset.
- Days 7-8
Paris
Use these two days to see Paris in depth. Visit Sainte-Chapelle at opening (9:00) to beat crowds, then walk to Notre-Dame to check out the reconstruction. The Musée d'Orsay's Impressionist works pair well with your Giverny visit. Spend your final morning in Montmartre before departing.

Paris Embarkation
Board your river ship in Paris by 5 PM. After settling into your cabin, attend a briefing about your 8-day Seine River journey. The ship sets sail at 9 PM. Make sure to head up to the deck to see Paris lit up at night as you begin your voyage to Normandy.
- Day 2
Rouen Exploration (20 km cycling)
Arrive in Rouen, Normandy's medieval capital. Start with an easy bike ride to a scenic viewpoint before walking through the historic center. If you're visiting between June and September, walk 15 minutes from the ship to see the cathedral's free summer light show after dinner.
- Day 3
Jumièges Abbey Route (45 km cycling)
Cycle the "Route of Romanesque Monasteries" along peaceful Seine river bends. Bring water and snacks to enjoy lunch at the impressive 11th-century Jumièges Abbey ruins. The e-bikes help with the rolling terrain but wearing padded cycling shorts will make longer rides more comfortable.

Étretat & Alabaster Coast (50 km cycling)
Take a transfer to the stunning white cliffs of the Côte d'Albâtre. Walk the cliff path at Étretat to photograph the unique rock formations. In the afternoon, bike through traditional Norman villages before meeting your ship in Caudebec-en-Caux.
- Day 5
Les Andelys to Vernon (46 km cycling)
Start at the ruins of Richard the Lionheart's castle above Les Andelys. After a tour, cycle to Giverny to explore Monet's gardens. A previous visitor shared: "Visiting in late spring was perfect - the water lilies were in full bloom and the crowds hadn't arrived yet. Go early to avoid tour buses."
- Day 6
Scenic Seine Cruising
Take a break from cycling as you cruise back toward Paris through Ile de France. Attend onboard cultural talks and enjoy watching the countryside from the top deck.
- Day 7
Paris by Bike (28 km cycling)
See a quieter side of Paris by e-bike along Canal St. Martin and the Seine's car-free paths. Visit the Orangerie Museum's water lilies collection and have lunch near Place de la Concorde. Finish your ride at the Rodin Museum's gardens before your final dinner onboard.

Paris Departure
Leave the ship after breakfast. If staying longer, look for hotels in the Marais area. You'll be close to major attractions with plenty of local cafes and shops nearby.

We had a our 2nd Globus tour in 5 years, this one was Normandy, Brittany and Chateaux Country. Globus tours has much improved and it was a very good tour. Riccardo was our tour director, and he was fantastic. His attention to detail, his knowledge of the areas and his patience with all the members of the group on the trip was excellent. The trip was well organized and the side trips in this tour were all very good. Only complaint is the wifi on the bus does not work but other than that Globus had everything well planned out. Good trip.
