This 6-day self-guided hike takes you through Provence's Côtes du Rhône wine region, where you'll walk 7-12 km daily with gentle climbs of 100-450m. The route leads through the Dentelles de Montmirail rock formations near Gigondas and past famous estates like Château Mont Redon, Vaudieu, and Nalys in Châteauneuf-du-Pape.

You'll trek through the Aiguebrun Valley to see the medieval Fort de Buoux, a 3,000-year-old fortress with Celto-Ligurian, Roman, and medieval ruins sitting on the cliffs. Then hike along the ancient plague wall from Fontaine de Vaucluse, France's largest spring, through cedar forests to Gordes, one of France's most beautiful villages on the rock face.

Walk through the UNESCO-listed Pont du Gard, a 2,000-year-old Roman aqueduct that towers 50 meters above the Gardon River, following the GR6 trail from Collias. The panoramic ridge of the Alpilles mountains takes you through fragrant garrigue landscapes of thyme and cistus that inspired Van Gogh's work at Saint-Paul de Mausole monastery in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, then wind through olive groves and medieval streets in Les Baux de Provence with daily walks of 10-18km and moderate ascents of 200-300m.

Trek through thyme-covered garrigue hills above Uzès to centuries-old capitelles stone huts, then hike the GR6 trail along the Gardon river to the UNESCO-listed Pont du Gard, a 50-meter-high Roman aqueduct towering over the valley. Walk 14 kilometers through Châteauneuf-du-Pape vineyards with Grenache and Syrah plots, stopping at Château Mont Redon for wine tastings.
