What people love about Ancient Wonders Tours in Central Mexico
- Mexico City to Oaxaca: Pottery & Aztec Pyramids
I've been fortunate to have traveled extensively over the past 20 years to many countries and this was one of my best experiences, thanks in large part to my guide Damaris. Damaris really enjoys her job and loves sharing the true Mexican experience with travelers, many of whom only know Mexico as home to coastal resorts and all-inclusives. She made an extra effort to introduce our group to the "real" Mexico and had many surprises for us along the way. She's also great at keeping everyone together in a group (which is not easy). The structure of the tour is also really nice. It allows more independent travelers such as myself to spend their days exploring on their own, while others who prefer a traditional group tour can join day tours to many sites led by knowledgeable guides. Then everybody reconnects in the evening and shares their stories. I felt totally safe the entire time and Damaris took us on hour-long orientation walks in each city, which were extremely helpful. My arrival transfer didn't show timely at the airport, but I won't hold that against them. Taxi was easy to find and they refunded me immediately. Great experience! Thank you!
- Mexico City Short Break
Our tour leader Esteban is a good guy to provide useful information to us. It would be better if we have our own shuttle for day tour instead of local bus so more places can be visited for those who have limited time to stay in CDMX.
- A Taste of Mexico City, City Break
Mexico City is a city that never sleeps and is beautiful in so many ways. We stayed at the Royal Reforma Hotel. Our first day we cruised down the canals of Xochimilco as we listened to mariachi bands, ate corn, drank tequila and bought jewelry. We then visited Coyoacán and its unbelievable market that had everything from fresh meat to prepared food to clothes. The next day we had a long but exciting day with our guide Jose Luis visiting the Basilica of Guadalupe and the pyramids of Teotihuacan. We climbed the pyramid of the moon and got as close as we could to the pyramids of the sun and the feather snake. Teotihuacan was definitely the highlight of the day. Our third day we spent with guides Gaby and Felipe, such great people, passing by the Palace of Fine Arts and walking down Avenida Madero. We visited the beautiful “House of Tiles” or Casa de Los Azulejos. We wanted to ride the subway so we had a chance to do that. We spent the afternoon in the Anthropology Museum. So much to see that you could spend days there. We had dinner at Bellini, the world’s largest revolving restaurant and had the most amazing food and views of Mexico City. We were then taken to Plaza Garibaldi where we were entertained by a mariachi band along with talented vocalists. A beautiful way to finish off our tour. With respect the hotel, the location was great for our planned activities, the staff were amazing and the roof top pool area and dining was great. We spent Valentines dinner up there. The only thing I thought could have been better was the state of the carpet in our room. It was very old and stretched with numerous visible stains. Luckily we did not spend much time in our room. Other than that we loved our tour and would definitely recommend it to others.
