What people love about touring Thailand solo
- Amazing Thailand Discovery in 12 Days
Very well organized tour across the different cities. Felt like good value for money. Met few friendly and interesting people on the trip. The places they took for lunch and dinner were always good. The pick up from the airport, hotel , etc was on time and well communicated. The tour is not very strenuous as you get most of the evenings to yourself to explore the city. Only critic is that we had 2 days of free leisure on our own in Phuket at the end of the tour, I wished they had planned something for at least on of those days. But we were able to plan something on our own which is very easy to do since it is a tourist town. Also there was a optional boat ride in Chiang Rai for 30 mins for 500baht which I went on but I won't recommend as you could just as well walk along the shore for free or buy a lot of unique stuff at / near the Opium museum.
- Thailand Nature Odyssey 12 Days
Bravo Indochina Tours left no detail unattended to, ensuring an absolutely flawless and immersive journey. Their guides were more than just knowledgeable; they were truly passionate about conveying the soul of each locale. Whether it was delving into the ancient temples of Chiang Mai, embarking on a trek through the verdant Khao Sok rainforest, or island-hopping in the captivating Krabi, each moment was meticulously arranged, creating unforgettable memories
- Amazing Thailand In 9 Days
This trip deserves 10 (!!) stars. It was fabulous from booking to arriving safely at home. Realistic Asia was the company that organized the itinerary; booked the hotels of my choice, the 2 flights within Thailand and the many tours. Especially as a solo traveler, there's nothing nicer than being greeted by a friendly face holding up a sign with your name on it upon arriving at the airport. And having a driver to pick you up and bring you to the hotel, or on a tour and get you back to your destination. The tours for the first days in Bangkok were private which was pretty luxurious. Each tour guide was from Thailand which provided a great opportunity to hear their perspective as a local living and working there. Long, from Realistic Asia, was working out of Vietnam. He was an expert at coordinating logistics and fantastic communicating throughout the 9-day tour; however, he knew little first hand about the hotels in Thailand. I researched them myself online. I stuck with 3-star hotels since I was out and about most days. (from 7am and back around 6 or 7pm). Four Wings in Bangkok best features were the large rooftop pool and great gym, but rooms were pretty dated. De Charme in Chiang Mai was excellent. Sure the bathroom was tight with the toilet snug up against the shower, but it worked fine for me. Their pool and surrounding lounging area looked pretty small. Breakfast was over the top with many dishes to choose from including authentic Thai food. I upgraded to the 4-star Deevana Patong Resort & Spa which had a wonderful pool (that I could enjoy at this point in the tour) with swim up bar, although the gym is terrible with no AC and machines that are broken. Spa looked like reservations hadn't been made in months. It looked deserted. The tour in Chiang Rai including a hike was great, though someone who's not in shape or able to maneuver well through the sometimes dense forest, may find it challenging. There was always a warm lunch included on these (long) day tours. The vans used to get us there was comfortably with AC and great drivers. I opted to add the 2 tours: Elephant Sanctuary and Phi Phi Islands Boat Tour....both well worth it. The elephant sanctuary was a once-in a lifetime experience, up close and personal with these amazing animals and learned lots about elephants from the staff. The boat tour was great as well and the perfect way to end the Amazing Thailand in 9 Days tour. I commend Long from Realistic Asia for being a top-notch communicator, friendly and very professional. He was always concerned that I was satisfied throughout the tour until he knew I got home safely. Tips: WhatsApp is the preferred method of communication so be sure to install it on your phone. You will likely upgrade/top up the storage on the e-Sim's 1G. If you do go on the Phi Phi Islands Boat Tour in Phuket, have a "Unbreakable Waterproof Phone Case" which carries phone, cash, hotel key.
What our customers ask about Thailand Tours for Solo Travelers
What's the typical group size for solo travelers on Thailand guided tours?
Thailand tours keep groups small with 12-16 travelers per trip. Solo travelers make up more than half of most groups between 50-65%. Looking at specific tours the Cycle Southern Thailand route draws about 66% solo travelers while the Solo-ish Thailand program is designed mainly for independent adventurers. Accommodations like the Century Park Hotel Bangkok and Chala Number 6 in Chiang Mai offer single rooms for an additional fee.
What are the best regions in Thailand for solo group tours?
The most popular areas for solo group tours center around Northern Thailand's Chiang Mai region and the southern islands. Chiang Mai provides opportunities to visit ethical elephant sanctuaries and join cooking classes. The southern islands of Koh Phi Phi and Phuket focus on water activities and beach time. One TourRadar traveler shared about Chiang Mai: "The local guide was excellent. They planned and took care of everything. Our group of solo travelers didn't need to think much."
What's the best time of year for solo travelers to visit Thailand?
The prime travel window runs from November through early April with the biggest influx of solo travelers in November and December. The Chiang Mai region in the north sees the best weather from November to February when temperatures cool down. The southern islands near Phuket offer great conditions from December to April. Places like the Sofitel Krabi Phokeethra make excellent bases during these months.
How does the single supplement pricing work on Thailand tours?
Private room supplements cost between 200-400 USD for a typical 10-day Thailand tour. Many operators let you skip this fee by sharing a room with another solo traveler of the same gender. Properties like Kata Sea Breeze Resort in Phuket and White Boutique Hotel in Chiang Mai accommodate both single and shared arrangements. According to a TourRadar review: "I opted for room sharing and was paired with another solo traveler - we ended up becoming great friends!"
How social are the guided tours in Thailand?
Group activities form the heart of Thailand tours bringing travelers together naturally. The Solo-ish Thailand tour includes shared experiences like cooking classes with local hosts in Chiang Mai group dinners and exploring Bangkok's Chinatown as a team. As one TourRadar traveler noted: "I made great friends and we adored our leader Nok. The trip offered us a safe and convenient way to see the country but gave ample opportunities to explore on our own."
What's the typical age range for solo travelers on Thailand tours?
The data shows solo travelers usually range from 25-55 years old with most between 30-45. Properties like Na Nirand Resort Chiang Mai and Century Park Bangkok draw a wide span of age groups. A TourRadar review noted: "Great mix of ages in our group from mid-20s to early 60s all solo travelers with similar interests."
