It was a good tour: think the accommodation could be better though for the price we paid. Small fans in large rooms don't work in hot weather. The meals were good. The guides were good & kept everything rolling. Didn't have much luck with the game viewing (except for elephants & hippos) but the mountain gorilla & chimpanzee treks were amazing. And these 2 excursions are what made the trip so good. (These kind of trips can be hit & miss. )

I had a fantastic tour of Uganda and Rwanda with my driver and guide, Mutanda. Starting in Entebbe, within a few hours we were already in Murchison Falls National Park viewing wildlife and seeing seeing other gems of « The Pearl of Africa.». Mutanda was an excellent driver (and traffic was at times hairy, particularly around Kampala) as well as experienced primatologist and ornithologist. I was very impressed by the abundance of wildlife in Murchison Falls and Queen Elizabeth NP’s. Our vehicle had a roof that could be raised, so that, on safari I had superb views and photo ops. En route, I got to see the Ruwenzori Mountains, a rhinoceros reserve, lakes, waterfalls and rich, green farmland. The hotels and meals were generally good quality, although I was always served much more food than I could eat. Similarly, Rwanda was a beautiful country. Highlights included Parc Nationale des Volcans, Nyungwe NP with its chimpanzees and other wildlife and the Tour de Rwanda as the race passed through Musanze. When I booked the tour I wasn’t too excited about seeing gorillas at Bwindi - I had already visited them years ago in the Congo. But this gorilla trek turned out to be my signature experience on the trip, proving that seeing gorillas in their natural habitat is a once in a lifetime experience, even the second time around.

We modified this tour a bit but this was the closest match for this review. We're very glad we chose Safari to Gorilla Tours and had a wonderful experience from start to finish. After researching Safari Bookings to compare companies and itineraries we chose S2G because we liked the itinerary options, price point, and they have great reviews. Aron made it very easy to arrange and happily accommodated a change to fit our schedule. Our trip had 2 gorilla treks, one in Rwanda and one in Uganda, a safari in Queen Elizabeth National Park, the Kazinga River Channel safari and the Mabamba Swamp to see the Shoebill stork, with mid-range accommodations (most were beautiful with stunning settings and views). They can provide high-end accommodation if preferred. Our 8 day tour began in Kigali, Rwanda and ended at the Entebbe airport in Uganda. Aron was incredibly responsive throughout the process and responded to my questions with good guidance and kindness. Our driver guide Obed was wonderful. He was warm, friendly, very knowledgeable, a former National Park Ranger, and made sure we had a very enjoyable and easy experience all along the way. We would gladly book with Aron and Safari to Gorilla Tours again. A couple of points that might be helpful to know is 1) to take more money for miscellaneous tips than you think you need. There are many helpful people along the way that you will want to tip and it makes a big difference in their lives, 2) our schedule was ambitious but if we had more time it would have been lovely to stay longer at some of the places and soak in the experience. Happy travels!
