Budget Tours & Trips to Mexico Reviews
- Colonial treasures of Mexico - 10 days
Locations were excellent. Gabriella spent alot of time with me at age 75, traveling with 60 year old and 30 years old Mexicali men. She had to first speak Spanish, then English. She also took me where I was interested - political protests, Aztec Temple Mexico City. She changed schedule for me as late in afternoons I was worn out. Hotel Royal and Morelia had no English speaking staff most of the time. Hotel Royal, both rooms had mattress deflated in middle. I had trouble figuring 20 % tip based on $1800 tour cost using ATM. Told her I'd send to her when I returned home. My bank advised me against Western Union or some such device saying easily rigged. She was excellent for me, though.
- Riviera Maya Adventure 7D/6N
Absolutely fantastic. Our contact at Bamba Experiences was so responsive and helped us in a number of tight spots. On one morning, our tour guide for Chichen Itza never showed up. Bamba immediately called them and worked out another tour day for us. We were blown away. Other than that, the lodgings were very comfortable. Nicer locations were slightly further away from the city centre, however, so I would suggest giving people 2 options for lodgings (and then they can prioritize convenience over ambiance, if they wish). Also, finding an English-speaking clerk at the bus stations (to print our tickets) was a little daunting, so perhaps offering us the chance to pre-print bus tickets before our vacation would be more useful. Other than that, it was great and very well-priced. I will 100% be booking another trip with Bamba again.
- Viva Mexico
The trip was incredible from start to finish. The itinerary was perfect with a great mixture of culture, activities, exploring, chill time and nights out. The tour was extremely well organised by both intro, our tour leader and local guides who were all very helpful and knowledgeable. Our tour leader Ceci made the trip though. Ceci is an incredible tour leader and person, she is passionate about her country, personable, lots of fun and a very kind person who is happy to help anyone with anything they need. Ceci made everyone feel extremely comfortable and by the end we felt like a family. Thank you Ceci for making my trip unforgettable!
What our customers ask about Budget Tours & Trips to Mexico
What's the average daily cost for budget tours in Mexico?
Budget tours in Mexico cost around 134 USD per day covering basics like accommodation transport between destinations and some meals. A typical 16-day route from Mexico City to Cancún includes 15 breakfasts 4 lunches and 2 dinners. The price also covers entry to key sites like Chichen Itza and Tulum ruins. One TourRadar traveler noted "it was great value for money with so many activities and experiences included in the price."
What budget-friendly areas of Mexico are best for travelers on a budget?
The Yucatan Peninsula stands out for value especially in cities like Merida and Valladolid. These places offer reasonably priced local food budget lodging and convenient access to archaeological sites like Chichen Itza. A TourRadar traveler noted: "Merida was perfect for budget travel - great street food local markets and free cultural events." Other wallet-friendly destinations include the colonial cities of Oaxaca and San Cristobal de las Casas which cost less than coastal resort areas.
Are entrance fees to attractions included in budget tour prices?
Entry fees to main sites come with most budget tours including Chichen Itza (85 USD) Teotihuacan (65 USD) and the National Museum of Anthropology (25 USD). Extra activities like cenote swimming (5-10 USD) or cooking classes (35-65 USD) usually cost extra. According to a TourRadar traveler: "Having main entrance fees included was great for budgeting - we just needed extra money for optional activities and personal interests."
What meals are typically included in budget Mexico tours?
Budget tours generally cover daily breakfast and selected group meals. You can expect traditional Mexican breakfast at your accommodation plus planned group dinners that showcase local dishes like mole in Oaxaca or regional Yucatecan food in Merida. A TourRadar traveler noted "the included group meals were fantastic for trying local specialties while having flexibility for other meals let us explore street food and local restaurants on our own."
When is the most affordable time to visit Mexico on a budget tour?
The best deals appear during low season from June to November particularly September and October. During these months accommodation and activity prices drop though occasional rain occurs. A TourRadar traveler shared "We saved significantly by traveling in October - the weather was still great and tourist sites were less crowded." Expect higher prices from December through April especially during Christmas and Spring Break.
