About me:Hello guys, my name is Itchy, 27 years old and I left France in 2011 to become a World Citizen. During this time Ive travelled to many different countries and met so many different and amazing people . Now I'm happy to live and discover Thailand, be able to show everybody it's beauty. I enjoy my job a lot: to take care of people, teach them new cool things they never tried before. Sea and the beach is one of the best things on Earth, so my fun hobby is wakeskate and wakeboarding which I will be happy to teach anyone on free time during the trip! Surfing was definitely my favourite experience with so many surfing instructors it meant that noon feel left out!The cooking class in Ubud was also a major highlightfor me and the family were so lovely

It is so difficult to decide my favourite moments of the tour but being on the boat in heading east of Bali was such an amazing experience as I was able to step out of my comfort zone. In all all the activities were spot on, there hasnt been a disappointing moment.

She is a kind caring & such a helpful guide. Any questions or problems you have she will sure to fix or answer them for you.

From the day I booked this trip, Tru Travels and their tour guides have seamlessly made travelling half way across the world an extremely easy experience.
Upon arriving in Bangkok I met up with our primary tour guide Colin. Any questions I had with respect to accommodations right down to recommendations for a good food joint were answered promptly. He was super friendly, always up for an adventure, and possibly more excited than I was to meet the rest of the group and to begin the tour.
Our Thai guides, Steve, Gun, and Itchy were awesome as well. They were so full of energy, downright hilarious, and loved sharing their stories with myself and the rest of the group. They taught us about Thai culture, their religion, and history about each scheduled destination. Their passion to teach others about the thailand ways could be felt in each story they told.
Although some of the scheduled destinations were cancelled due uncontrollable circumstances, all four of these guides made sure that an activity equally as fun took it’s place. Ensuring the group and each individual was getting the most out of this trip was the top priority for each one of these guides. Colin, Steve, Gun and Itchy, thanks for making this trip one to remember. It will be a hard one to top.

I owe this wonderful experience to our tour guides Colin, Steve, Gun and Itchy who became more than just our tour guides they became our friends and family. These men with the time they spent with us went out of there way to help, educate and ensure we seen and did everything we wanted to do and see. They were so welcoming and friendly and made us all feel so comfortable and safe at all times. I would even say we tested their limits when 25 people all wanted different meals etc and they always pulled through and we were all always happy and satisfied and most importantly laughing. I can’t credit these four men enough for the experience and memories they have given us. Forever thankful. The tour is great value for money and you get what you put into it. Jump in and get involved. The balance between chill days and activities was great it gave you the chance to catch up on sleep or visit places or do extra activities, the guides always helping to organsise and arrange extra activities. I couldn’t have asked for a better deal or company, would recommend to everyone to do this trip and just embrace every single part of it because you’ll miss it when it’s over.

Sadly Steve left us after 8 days but we gained Gun, so many funny amazing memories with all guides as well as Itchy that came to Koh Tao and Phi Phi and Phuket with us also. I can not thank Trutravels enough for two of the best weeks. The tour itinerary allowed us to explore the culture and heritage of Thailand whilst adding in activities where you could just relax and have fun catering to everyone’s wants and needs. One of our biggest highlights were our two FANTASTIC tour guides Itchy and Papsi. Both were awesome and couldn’t be faulted. From day 1 to day 13 both of them worked hard, answering any questions and created a safe and fun environment for the team. Both became more than just tour guides but great friends. I loved the fact that trutravels have both a Thai guide and an international guide. Itchy has lots of experience in the tourism industry and Papsi had the knowledge of the country he has grown up in.

The 2 guides were very funny and were interactive members of the group which adds to the experience massively, they were both very helpful. Papsi's English was very good and he was able to give a very knowledgable incite into Thai culture. Itchy was very resourceful, especially as in his own time he organised everybody's transportation to where they wanted to go after the tour, which we all appreciated very much!

Itchy has been the best and I doubt there is any other guide better then him, he’s always entertaining 24/7, heaps of knowledge of where to go, eat, have fun and to have a great time! He looked after us all 24/7, if we had a question he would be on it with an answer straight away, and most of all he’s a genuine guy, what you see is what you get! I will miss him a lot, but I will definitely be doing another tru travels tour, and he best be the guide!! Also papsi the assist tour guide made it even more memorable, he was just hilarious every single minute, and always made us smile. Him and itchy are the power couple haha! We hit all the major spots and had activities to keep us entertained everyday without it becoming exhausting or overwhelming. This trip was everything I thought it would be and then some. I feel truly blessed to of had such terrific time with the Trutravels crew. I would highly recommend this to first time backpackers and even veteran travellers because the organization and planning is done for you and they know how to take care of their customers. Firstly, organisation was flawless. Every check in was executed well, every train/coach/boat journey was on time and there was always a taxi waiting to pick us up after all activities. The fact that all these extra journeys and accommodation was included in the price was a great bonus.
Itchy was a great tour leader, very relaxed and laid back which was perfect for our group dynamic. He was also good at reading our group and if some people didn’t want to go out at night he made that clear it was up to us, so we never felt pressure to go out or do anything we didn’t want to. He was easy to talk to and got involved with the group (HOWS THAAT?!) and arranged for our boat trip off the island when we finished the tour which was a great help. He was excellent at keeping us in the loop and well informed on our itinerary every morning/evening.
Another star was our Thai tour guide Papsi! Every tour group in Thailand requires a Thai national to guide the group and we definitely got the best one! Papsi was organised always making sure the group was together and on time and very informative on Thai culture and history especially when visiting Buddhist temples. He was always making us laugh and having fun and getting involved with the group. Papsi you were the heart of our tour!
The leaders are young and fun and will drink and party with the group which is great! In my opinion, these tours are perfectly suited for a younger crowd who like to party and are okay with drinking most nights. If that isn’t you’re scene, then I would suggest booking another tour. I’m 25 and my partner is 29. We went together as a couple and still had an amazing time and partied with everyone in the group so this wasn’t an issue for us, but if you want something more relaxed and with an older crowd, then I would not recommend Tru Travels. This is in no way a negative reflection on the tour, just an observation. Itchy and Papsi did everything they could to make our experience a great one and we had a wonderful tour. Kob Khun Kaa!

First of all this tour is amazing, it was the best 3 weeks of my life and it couldn't have been better. The tour guides certainly made this experience, I'm 35, I manage a service and I'm quite critical with high standards and these guys blew me away! I just want to thank Tru Travels for employing such amazing staff, they really made this trip excel my expectations. There were so many suggestions of activities to do and all of the staff were happy to help us organise anything. I really can't praise you guys enough and thank you for making this experience so amazing.
Sarayuth aka Ali, was the most adorable human I have ever encountered, he picked me up at the airport and I instantly knew I was in safe hands. it was his first tour with tru travels but he has lots of experience and it showed. He had such genuine care for everyone on the tour and is just an all round lovely guy. He shared all his Thai knowledge with us about the Temples and the culture and taught us lots of Thai words and ways of life. On top of this he was so much fun! Ali, I miss you xxx
Itchy- well this guy just absolutely loves life and fun and just wants everyone to have a great time! We had Itchy for the first 10 days and again what a lovely guy! He was so much fun and always checking in on everyone and making sure we all had a good time.
Tamara- So much love for this girl! She's an absolute gem. She took music everywhere we went and it really lifted our spirits on those early morning travels. She's so much fun, so happy, and just a genuinely lovely gal :) I miss you Tamara :(
Amanda joined us for the last 10 days when our group of 12 became 30 0dd people and her organisation skills were so impressive. I honestly can't believe how easy she made it look organising all those people, it was effortless! As with all the tru crew, her genuine desire for us all to have the best time came through everyday. constantly checking were ok, giving us options of other things to do if we had spare time or didn't wanna do one of the set activities. Not only this, Amanda really made a massive effort to make sure we all had amazing pictures to remember the trip, I look back at these now and am really grateful for all those times she made us have group pictures- thanks babe!
Papsi- another lovely guy, so happy and smiley and another great member of the tru crew.
I'll be booking the Philippines next year, i'm not sure I'll ever get better than this Thai tour but I'll definitely be booking with Tru travels in the future.

Itchy - Was always very informative and organised and knew exactly what he was doing, ensured the trip went smoothly and made it more enjoyable with his humour and character!
Napompon- Was always very informative and gave us a lot of information about life for Thai people and about the history of the country, got along with everyone and was always very helpful and polite
Ali (Sarayuth) - Always provides ample information about Thailand and the temples etc. His positivity and care about the trip ensured that we had an amazing time and whenever we had any problems he jumped to help them straight away!
Tamara - Her energy and charisma always put a smile on everyone’s face and got everyone ready for the day we had ahead of us, kept everyone entertained and was always attentive extremely helpful and enjoyable to have around.
We then joined on to a second group, and we lost Itchy and Napompon but gained two more guides in Papsi and Amanda

There’s no way I could have done everything and saw everything I did without being on this tour. All of the guides are very caring and nice. Fun too! I got really sick at the end of the tour. Amanda and Ali took care of me. I’m so grateful to be on the tour with all of them. Tamara helped me plan my trip up north for a good deal. They made sure my ongoing travel was taken care of and I understood what to do. All in all. Great times and a great tour!
The 8 day tour was a nice introduction to Thailand's culture and landscape. This was my first time in Thailand. I got to experience the busy street of Khao San Road with lines of bars and restaurants …The 8 day tour was a nice introduction to Thailand's culture and landscape. This was my first time in Thailand. I got to experience the busy street of Khao San Road with lines of bars and restaurants and street vendors selling anything from scorpions to bracelets that say "I love a lady boy." The Buddhist temples, Wat Arun and Wat Pho, provided a great cultural experience to learn about the history of Buddhism and the role of monks in Thailand. The 12 hour overnight train ride is definitely a "try it once" experience that will give you sometime to look out the window and watch the sunset or listen to music. We spent the day and night at Khao Sok National Park were we were surrounded by the lake and huge limestone mountains. I spent the day swimming and kayaking around the magnificent lake. I wish I had brought my book to read for part of the day because it is that tranquil. Then came Koh Phangan Island which is one of the lesser known islands but still has a lot to offer. We stayed at Bottle Beach where it was quiet and hardly any tourists on the beach. At night, the locals put on a fireshow and I got a chance to "play" with fire! The boat party was a nice experience to get to know other tour groups and dance to music. I jumped off the boat into the water a few times which was a thrilling experience. Now for the negatives, most of the nights were filled with excessive drinking activities which if you are 25 years old or younger is fun, but gets old after a while. I was the second oldest person on the tour (my late 20s if you are wondering), while most of the group members were 25 years old or younger. They were a nice bunch of kids, mostly from the UK who were on holiday or took a gap year after high school before they started university. I would of preferred a more older crowd. Overall, the tour provides a great first time experience for those who seeking an adventure in Thailand (or Asia for that matter).

Each guide - Itchy, Tamara, Allie and Ponpon was so friendly and if you ever needed anything/advice they were more than happy to help. I was more than happy with all the places we stopped at, we were backpacking afterall. The travel, much like the accommodation varied vastly from lush private taxis to cramped sleeper trains and boats. But that's just how things are in Thailand, it's just part of it character.

His recommendations are always spot on! I never felt like we were travelling for too long at all the the balance between activities and chill time seemed right. After Canggu, ubud was next. Itchy encouraged me outside of the tour to do the volcano trek and honestly it was one of the best experiences I’ve had. The hotel in ubud could have been better quality although it initially looked nice it wasn’t what I expected but we still had a good time there. The gili T trip after that was great! Itchy was on top form and we partied and enjoyed the beautiful surroundings. The hotel there was good quality although service could have been better at times, mainly when the friendly front desk and evening staff weren’t around. Overall though itchy was faultless and I had the best time and would totally recommend tru travels

The trip itself could have filled the "free time" a little better, and perhaps would benefit from introducing some elements that were unique to Trutravels, rather than just the standard tourist options, but all in all I had a wonderful time, with fantastic people, and when things started to go wrong Itchy and Art soon got this sorted and took care of the people who were poorly. It was my first time traveling to Thailand and I think coupling a few days in Chiang Mai on my own with TruTravel's 18 Day Island Hopper tour was the best way I could've gone about it (arrive in Bangk…It was my first time traveling to Thailand and I think coupling a few days in Chiang Mai on my own with TruTravel's 18 Day Island Hopper tour was the best way I could've gone about it (arrive in Bangkok early so that you can visit the Grand Palace, which is not included in the itinerary). The tour's itinerary allowed me to experience a lot of southern Thailand's major spots, including some that I wouldn't have known about on my own, with a fun-loving group of people for a relatively great price. I also really liked that we had the flexibility to do other/additional activities on our own if we wanted to. I was initially in a group of around 20 with Minnie (and very briefly with Dave) before our group combined with another that came to be led by Itchy, Daniel, and Patrick. The guides were all knowledgeable, very prompt at responding to messages, and fun to be around. They do their jobs well and truly want to make sure that you are enjoying your time. Each brought something different to the table that I think contributed to the group's dynamic. They should all be given a raise and more days off ASAP so that they can come visit me in California some day (:
Some critiques: I wish that we were put in sleeper trains WITH A/C on our way to Khao Sok National Park and would have preferred another hostel over the TruTravel-owned Echo Beach Backpackers Hostel in Ko Phangan to be honest. Also, two 1 hour sessions at Surf House Phuket was not enough, especially since we were in a large group. I think a lot of the people in my group were more bothered by the fact that we were split very unevenly between the two sessions for some reason... You could tell TruTravels tries to cut their costs in these areas, but the overall positive experience of the trip outweighed these minor downsides.

The accommodation was much better than what I'd imagined when I'd decided to go traveling, we weren't exactly living it rough, sure we did our fair share of hostels but there was also some pretty sweet hotels we stayed in on the second half of the trip, ending in style. Itchy and Pi Art were a informative guides that were clearly well experienced with Thailand and every place which we visited. They had restaurant reccomendations and knew where the basic local amenities were in every place we stayed. One thing I was impressed with too is that Itchy/tru travels are more than happy to help with your ongoing travel after the trip and make sure everyone has a plan and isn't just left stranded when a tour ends. The tour is jam packed with things to do, making sure you're never bored and offers a great mix between sightseeing, activities as well as plenty of opportunities to party. On top of that, it's very well organised from start to finish...no stress, no drama! From the airport pickup on the day I arrived to helping me sort out flights/ ferries/ accommodation to Bangkok for my return flight, nothing was too much trouble for our guides! All three guides were very sociable and joined in all the fun, which let me know from the get-go that this trip was going to be something pretty awesome!! I went on the tour as a solo traveler but in all honesty, it doesn't matter if you're there on your own or with a friend because you're there with like minded people all looking for the same experience and you all just click instantly! I've met bunch of amazing people from all around the world who I can now call my friends, so a big thanks to them and to everyone at TruTravels for making this trip epic!

Here were the highlights:
- Great tour guides: fun, young, energetic and very nice. Benmore taught us a lot about Thai culture and it was incredibly interesting.
- Awesome group of young adventurous and fun individuals on the group.
- The bungalows were AMAZING. Beach and floating... very minimalist, but a fantastic experience!
- Khao Sok is gorgeous! I wish we would have stayed a little longer.
- Bottle beach also gorgeous, also wish I would have stayed longer!
- Koh Phangan is a very laid-back backpacker town. Fun people and parties. The hostel we stayed in had great AC and was very clean and friendly vibe. LOVED THE DOGS!
Things that could have made the trip a little better:
- Hostel in Bangkok was not very good. Our bathroom was flooded the entire time and the rooms were hot, however, you can't beat the location. It was walking distance from Khao San Road and the shopping and restaurants right around the hostel was awesome compared to the rest of the city.
- We were in Bangkok a little too long. I wish I would have arrived the day the tour started instead of the day before like the website suggested. Bangkok was hot and busy and I much rather enjoyed the rest of the trip better. I would have preferred to have stayed in Koh Phangan an extra day instead of Bangkok!
TIPS!
- Bring extra bug spray and sunblock. If you choose to bring a carry-on, buy 2 bottles that are the appropriate size to go through TSA for both bug spray and sun block. YOU WILL RUN OUT and you WILL need to have it on you at all times!
- Bring wet wipies! They saved my life. There is no toilet paper anywhere in Thailand!
- No need to bring any fancy clothing or over-pack. Trust me, you'll need the space in your bag for all the awesome things you'll buy there. It's so cheap!
- If you do the hike in Bottle Beach: WEAR SNEAKERS + tons of bug spray and sun black. Take a small backpack to carry your camera and a LARGE water bottle bc you'll need it! The hike is pretty advanced and I don't recommend it for anyone that gets easily scared of heights. To reach the best view point we had to climb a huge rock and walk along a very narrow strip to reach the edge, but it is WELL WORTH IT!

Our tour guides were Benmore, Itchy and Alex and they were young and full of energy with a cheerful attitude. Being one of the oldest in the group (I'm only 30 but most of the group were in their early 20s) I felt rejuvenated to say the least! These guys really know how to party and stay active throughout the trip and keep the energy up at all times. They never showed frustration even though I can imagine being responsible for a large group must be difficult. And they made sure to keep a smile on their face and happily answer questions and help you out with anything and everything you needed.
The only thing I'd say to make the experience a little better (maybe bc I'm "so old") would be to have some more down time. Pretty much everywhere we went it was stop and go stop and go. The itinerary was jammed packed, but understandably so because there is just so much to see and do in the beautiful country!
We were fortunate enough to be in Bangkok during Songkran (Thai New Year) and it was SO much fun! Water fights pretty much everywhere you go for three straight days. Bangkok is pretty cool, but I was there too long. I arrived a day before the tour started and stayed another 2 1/2 days after the tour ended. I would suggest planning to arrive the day your tour starts because we don't really do anything until dinner in the late afternoon. Bangkok is easily done in 2 days.
Khao Sok - HOLY COW. I wish I could have stayed there longer! It literally felt like a dream. So remote, peaceful and scenic. The water is fresh and calm and so delicious to swim in. I also loved the food at our Bungalow resort.
Bottle beach was absolutely gorgeous. Again we weren't there long enough :( I did a hike with 2 others from the group, 1 of our tour guides, and a Thai guide to lead us up the "mountain" (I'd definitely consider it a mountain!) The Thai guide told us that we'd be able to do the hike in our sandals, but I think he hadn't considered that most of us aren't used to ROCK-climbing practically barefoot in extremely hot weather. Needless to say, it was extremely difficult. I'm not a HUGE trekker. I'm from Miami, FL so the majority of hikes we have are all on flat land. But I have done a couple of hikes in the Dominican Republic and California, in which I was prepared for (SNEAKERS). A little advice to anyone who attempts this strenuous, but EXTREMELY rewarding hike (once you reach the top) is to DEFINITELY wear sneakers, put on a lot of sunblock and bug-spray, and take a little backpack to hold your camera and a large water bottle. I wish I would have been warned a bit more, but I understand it was our tour guide's first time so I can't really blame him!
Koh Phangan was amazing! Definitely a back-packer town. Very laid back and lots of partying. I was pleasantly surprised by the snorkeling on the Booze cruise. It was gorgeous! I didn't drink much on the booze cruise because I wasn't a fan of the type of liquor that was provided, but I still had a fantastic time as it was the last day with the group and by this point we were all besties.
Ultimately, the tour was fantastic for such a low price. Its definitely a backpacker-type trip. You're on the go at all times and staying in hostels and bungalows so theres no need for fancy clothes or over-packing. Definitely suggest taking a backpack instead of a rolly and lots of WIPIES! There is NO toilet paper in barely any of the bathrooms. Wipies saved my life! Also definitely take a good supply of bug-spray and sunblock. We ran out of bug spray and got eaten alive.
I highly suggest this tour for anyone looking for an adventure and meeting new people. You're traveling with a group the entire time so you're bound to create lasting friendships!

I greatly appreciated Maya's cultural knowledge as well as her determination to immerse us into the Thai lifestyle. Meanwhile, Alex and Itchy were brothers to me by the end of the trip. From airport pick up to final checkout, the tour was planned an executed flawless and stress free. Whether you attend solo or with a group, I can promise you'll have trufamily by the end of the trip. Ive already began recommending this adgency and can't wait to attend my next tour. Cambodia here I come!

From the airport pickup on arrival to our last day, everything was really well organized and we had nothing to worry about. Maya was really helpful offering Thai history and culture along the way, and Alex and Itchy were a blast to hang out with the whole trip. All three were very social and were always willing to help us find fun things to do in our spare time during the tour. There were always great options available to us throughout the trip, so we never felt bored. The accommodations were great and a lot of fun as we stayed in a variety of places. Echo beach hostel was the best hostel I have ever stayed in. All in all, it's an awesome trip to do solo or with a friend because you get to meet a ton of new people from around the world and instantly become great friends. Im looking forward to booking another trip with them!

Having them around made life a lot simpler and easier for everyone and they were always around to ask for help or information if you needed it.
The trip is great if you are a first time traveller like myself because going solo travelling can be daunting. By doing an organised trip you know that you'll meet people who are looking for a similar thing and experience to you.
The itinerary is packed with stuff to do so there's never a day where you'll be bored and there are a couple of free days to give you the opportunity to explore.
Thanks to my tour guide and my group I had one hell of a trip and would recommend this to anyone who is looking for good times and fun.

It was my first time travelling anywhere solo and I was a bit nervous - I needn't have worried. My guides, Alex, Itchy and Ben looked after us all and made sure everyone had a great time and got involved.
They really went above and beyond, from Alex coming during his free time to take some of our group to a tattoo parlour to Itchy and Ben taking us to an *amazing* infinity pool in Koh Phangan the day after the tour ended shows you what a great job they do.
And on top of this my group were amazing!
Highlights of the tour:
Being soaked by a child sitting on the front of his parents motorbike with a water gun whilst riding in the back of a Tuk Tuk ..(due to it being Thai New Year, not guaranteed with every tour sadly)
Being given our blessing/fortunes read at Wat Pho temple in Bangkok.
Riding around the backwaters of Bangkok in a long tail boat
Thai massage - OMG. Do it. Better than a Swedish one (was a bit nervous as thought it might be painful, its definitely unusual but amazing)
Tips:
- Bring Factor 50/high protection Sunscreen (I brought Factor 20 with me..rookie mistake - as if I haven't owned my Irish skin for the past 27 years. Learn from me please!)
- Bring an eye mask and earplugs for Bangkok sleeper train (they don't dim the lights and can be a bit noisy with the hustle and bustle of Thai life -also bring a hoody to get cosy in as it can get actually get cold on here ha.)
- Powerbanks x 2/3! When you get to the floating bungalows in particular, power doesn't come on until the evening so if you want to take phone photos here definitely bring a power bank or 2 (& you *will* want to take photos here, this is the national park and absolutely beautiful).
- Thai Sim Card - equivalent of about 6 UK pounds and you get data almost everywhere. Worth it can buy from any of the many 7/11s around just ask Ben for help :-)
- If you are there for Thai New Year (Son Kran) wear swimwear under everything for the first few days - you will get soaked at any moment.
- Just go! :-) amazing trip, you won't regret it!! Thanks again to Tru Travels for a great trip!

I was really nervous as to what was to come, how welcoming the people would be, and what the language barrier would be like. Upon arrival the TruTravels staff made me feel nothing short of at home. My tour guides were enthusiastic, welcoming, loving, and very fun. I may be biased, but I can honestly say I don't think my experience would have been the same without Alex, Itchy and Ben. They fit right in, are easy to talk to and help you with anything you need, whether it be food allergies, travels, suggestions for after the tour. I saw so many incredible parts of Thailand through this company and am already looking into a tour of Bali as well.
