I am very happy with my experience of Tour Radar. The trip to Budapest was great and Tour Radar was extremely helpful with any questions I had regarding the trip and the area. They provided a clear itinerary before the trip as well as offered suggestions of other things in the city that might be of interest. I would definitely book with Tour Radar again!

Prague is amazing. I found the history of the city to be rich, the people were very welcoming, and in general is a relaxed atmosphere filled with a variety of food and culture. This is a city I can visit again. I would suggest if coming in June, do stay in a hotel with air conditioning. Budapest was a different experience. The city is busy and in speaking with locals everything is much more short and less pleasantry in conversation. I was disappointed with our city tour. It was to be an English only tour, but two Italians were added to our group. So our guide had to constantly flip back and forth when speaking which means we had less information and not really much time to ask questions. I applaud the guides ability to speak in different languages quickly, but I do feel I didn’t receive what I had paid for. In addition, it was warm out 26C/80F and our van with 14 people inside was simply hot and the driver would not tune the speed of the AC beyond 2 out of 5 on the dial. The Italians, Americans, Indians, and women from Montenegro were all hot and with the can weaving in/out of traffic made it easy to experience motion sickness. I also felt we were rushed to see and take in sites, yet we spent 5-10 minutes at a very tiny shop because our guide likes to stop there. That was a waste of time in my opinion. Would I visit Budapest again…no. Likewise, if I were on a boat going down the Danube I would stay on board. My suggestion would be to Prague with Salzburg or Dresden.

What our customers ask about Hungary Tours & Trips
What are some interesting day trips from Budapest?
Just beyond Budapest's city limits lie several enticing destinations worth exploring. The Danube Bend region offers three standout cities: Esztergom home to Europe's largest basilica Visegrad with its grand Royal Palace and Szentendre a charming artists' enclave. Lake Balaton Central Europe's largest freshwater lake draws visitors to towns like Balatonfured and the historic Tihany Peninsula. Many travelers speak highly of Pecs a baroque city known for its cathedral and Ottoman architecture. The wine cellars of Eger have also become a favorite stop for those seeking to experience Hungary's renowned wine culture.
What's the accommodation like in Hungary?
Hungary's lodging options span from international hotel chains to family-run guesthouses. Budapest features well-known properties like the Danubius Hotel Arena and Mercure Budapest Castle Hill both offering reliable comfort in prime locations. Beyond the capital smaller establishments like the Regio Panzio in Halaszi give guests a more personal experience. The Hotel Kristaly in Tata stands out for maintaining traditional Hungarian character while properties in towns like Eger combine local touches with modern amenities at reasonable rates.
What are the must-visit thermal baths in Budapest?
The Szechenyi Thermal Baths stand as Budapest's premier bathing complex housed in a neo-baroque building in City Park. With 15 indoor pools and 3 expansive outdoor pools visitors can experience various water temperatures and therapeutic benefits. The complex includes massage services and specialty experiences like the beer spa. The Gellert Baths showcase elegant architecture along the Danube while the historic Rudas Baths offer a more traditional Turkish bath experience. Guests at the Danubius Hotel Gellert enjoy direct access to their namesake baths.
What's the best time to visit Hungary?
Spring months of April and May along with autumn's September and October provide pleasant temperatures and manageable crowd levels in Hungary. Summer brings warmer weather ideal for festivals and outdoor activities but expect more tourists and higher prices. Lake Balaton proves particularly appealing in May when comfortable temperatures allow for boating without peak season crowds. Winter visitors find unique charm in thermal baths particularly in Budapest where the contrast between hot waters and cold air creates a memorable experience.
What are the most unique places to visit in Hungary outside of Budapest?
Hungary's countryside holds numerous cultural treasures. The wine region of Eger draws visitors to its historic Castle and the Valley of Beautiful Women where traditional cellars offer intimate tasting experiences. Szentendre's baroque streets filled with art galleries and craft shops provide a creative atmosphere. The Danube Bend region features Esztergom and Visegrad both offering significant historical sites and river views. Many travelers use the Hotel Orion Varkert in Budapest as their base making day trips to these locations easily accessible.
Is Hungary expensive for tourists?
Hungary presents good value especially when compared to other European destinations. Daily expenses typically range from $50-100 for budget-conscious travelers while those seeking luxury experiences might spend $150-200. Popular attractions remain reasonably priced with thermal baths costing around $20 for entry. Local dining options offer quality meals at modest prices and accommodations like Hotel Caroline provide comfortable stays without excessive costs. The country consistently ranks as one of Europe's more affordable destinations for tourists.
