Just returned from a packed 7-day Classic Romania Tour with Rolandia (late September) traveling as 2 persons with my mother. We were left awed by the beauty of the land, cityscapes, towering castles, and lovely churches - pictures cannot do justice! The small group nature of the tour allowed us to have more time flexibility and our knowledgeable guides helped us understand about the customs and history at each destination (Maramures especially notable with the wonderful hospitality, wood carved gateways, and traditional folk music). Additionally, the choice of hotels was excellent: modern and close to the city centers, allowing us to explore and experience the local fare in the evenings. We loved our time in Romania and hope other travelers will be able to enjoy for themselves and help preserve its many wonders for many more centuries to come!
Classic Romania Tour (small group)I loved this tour and our guide, Ruxx, was awesome! She did a fantastic job keeping the group going, was knowledgeable and entertaining. She demonstrated patience (with a group of 15) and kept us informed of the schedule, plan and daily activities. I highly recommend Ruxx as a guide and this itinerary is great for someone looking to see and do a lot in a long weekend.

Winter really shines for cultural touring in Transylvania when the big crowds thin out. Our small groups get to explore Peles Castle, Bran Castle and other sites with much more space to themselves. The medieval towns look particularly good with a dusting of snow - you'll get excellent photos in Brasov's Council Square and walking across Sibiu's Bridge of Lies. Many of our travelers tell us how the Gothic chambers of Bran Castle feel properly atmospheric in winter, especially during our private after-hours visits when you practically have the whole place to yourself. The early sunsets and crisp air really add to that mysterious castle mood.
