What an amazing experience! From the moment we disembarked onto Kangaroo Island it was moment after moment of fun and excitement! Eli brought energy, humour, and passion to the tour as soon as we got on the bus. He was knowledgeable and personable the whole time. I noticed that he took the time to get to know everyone individually over the course of the first few stops. Great guide, and more importantly, great person! Thanks Eli! Enjoyed all the stops, got some great views and stories to take home with me. The swag camping was unique and surprisingly comfortable. Meals were simple but always hit the spot; I appreciated being able to contribute to the prep and clean up as it made the whole group feel closer. Fantastic experience I won't soon forget!

Our tour guide Soren was fantastic. The places we saw, the places we ate, those on the same tour were wonderful. However we will never travel through Tourradar again. Once they had our money , communication was impossible. So disappointing. Perhaps a phone call to us would be appreciated, Faith 0478226619

Firstly, great customer support provided by Eli. She was so helpful from day 1 & thank her a lot for getting my tour bus on day 1. Secondly, lovely drivers who showed me around. Roger & Simonne. Really helpful & knowledgeable. Thirdly, the tour is really good I suggest the free day on day 1 should be take off have 2 days in kangaroo island, to make it more value for money. Otherwise great tour for a quick getaway. Lastly, just one thing I feel I didn't like the the tour was a little expensive for what tours included & foods.

Best tour companies for South Australia tours
Looking at Kangaroo Island tours, two operators stand out with genuinely positive feedback. Intrepid's guides - especially Leonie, Georgie, Pablo, Aaron and also Kevin - have earned solid praise from our travelers for their deep local knowledge and smooth handling of the day-to-day tour experience. TourRadar customers who've done the 3-Day Kangaroo Island Adventure often mention guides Gianna and Eli by name. They bring real energy to the tours, adapt plans when needed and keep things fun while showing off the island's wildlife spots and natural areas. I'd suggest being careful with the 6-Day Eyre Peninsula & Flinders Ranges tour though. Some travelers have had issues with Nullarbor Traveller and Australian Wildlife Adventures - they've mentioned drivers who seem more interested in themselves than the group, pretty basic food options and some disorganized moments that could've been planned better. The real difference seems to come down to the guides - when you've got someone who knows their stuff and cares about the group experience, it really shows in how the whole tour comes together.

Best time to visit South Australia
- Winter 2025 / 2026
Winter in South Australia is actually perfect for wildlife watching and getting cozy with wines. The 5-day Kangaroo Island trips between June and August let you see sea lions with their new pups at Seal Bay, and there's something special about watching little penguins waddle home at dusk in Penneshaw. Our walkers tell us they prefer the Flinders Ranges this time of year - those climbs up Mount Ohlssen Bagge and through Wilpena Pound feel just right in the cooler weather. The cellar doors are quieter too, especially in Clare Valley where you can taste those bold reds next to stone fireplaces. The camping tours keep running with extra-warm swags, and also those crystal-clear winter nights make for amazing stargazing.
- Spring 2026
Spring really shows off South Australia's natural side, and our 3-7 day tours capture all the good bits. You'll spot young joeys peeking from pouches on Kangaroo Island, wildflowers everywhere you look and also perfect weather for those coastal walks to Remarkable Rocks and Admirals Arch. Barossa Valley cycling works brilliantly now - you'll cover 25-35km daily between vineyards just as the new growth appears. The Ikara-Flinders walks let you spot yellow-footed rock wallabies with their babies, and local Adnyamathanha guides share their cultural sites. Our eco-camps put you right in the middle of nature's spring performance.

- Summer 2026
Summer tours focus on coastal spots and early starts. We've found 5-6 day combinations of Adelaide, Kangaroo Island and wine regions work really well - you'll visit Seal Bay early before it heats up, then spend afternoons tasting wines in cool cellar doors or swimming at quiet spots like Stokes Bay. The Flinders Ranges walks shift to sunrise starts, and guides know exactly where to find shade for breaks. Evenings at camp are particularly good in summer, with travelers sharing sunset barbecues under incredibly starry skies at places like Mikkira Station Koala Sanctuary and also other remote spots.

- Fall / Autumn 2026
Autumn brings harvest energy and ideal outdoor conditions. Our cycling tours through Clare Valley and Barossa cover 25-30km daily between vineyards while winemakers are bringing in grapes, and you'll stop for proper harvest lunches too. Kangaroo Island walks feel just right with stable weather for coastal trails, and wildlife gets really active before winter sets in. The 6-day outback tours combine Flinders Ranges walks, visits to Coober Pedy's underground homes and also cultural experiences at Iga Warta. Our travelers keep telling us autumn camping is their favorite - mild nights, clear skies and also perfect temperatures for exploring.
