The amazon rainforest is absolutely incredible and it was a mostly fantastic experience while there. The wildlife was incredible to see. The lodge was comfortable and the food was delicious! There were fun activities and I learned a lot about the area and it's history. I was concerned that the tour guide did catch a small caimen and held it while describing anatomy/behavior etc. it was also concerning that it was then passed around for anyone who wanted to hold it - despite the tourists having contaminants like big spray on them. That was uncool. You're not going to grab a sloth out of a tree - no need to grab a caimen. This also does seem to break the trip advisor animal welfare guidelines. My guide did speak English which was great and very appreciated. He couldn't tell me a lot about the local indigenous tribes or whose land we were on, but just said they didn't really exist there anymore as they had "retreated into the forest". I'm not sure if he didn't really understand my questions or if he just didn't know. The survival camping night was a bit odd as well, we broke several cardinal rules of camping (10 essentials, making camp before dark, etc). The light misogyny of the guide also made me quite annoyed - our guide was really just surviving for us, instead of using the collective expertise of me and my fellow tourists, who back country camp regularly. We ended up making camp in the dark, putting up tarps last minute before a rainstorm, and taking forever to build a fire, and not eating until at least 9:30pm. Not entirely sure if recommend this night. The communication from bamba was subpar - maybe I missed it, but I didn't know who the local operator was until just days before leaving, wasn't entirely sure where I was getting picked up from, and I didn't get a gear list until about a week before - luckily I had done my own research and was fairly well lifted out because I had already left my home country by that time and wasn't going to bring anything else.
Manaus Amazon Jungle Adventure 5D/4N - A

I really enjoyed the trip as a whole - even if it is a bit rough around the edges quality-wise. The activities were interesting and varied and Josef, the main guide, is certainly an interesting character and very knowledgeable. The fact that we could still see Manaus down the river left some feeling this wasn't as remote and 'authentic' as they had hoped, but for a short trip into what is nonetheless the heart of the Amazon Rainforest (complete with daily rain!) it was authentic enough and very enjoyable overall and good value for money IMO.

- Winter 2025 / 2026
Winter in the Amazon brings excellent wildlife viewing around Puerto Maldonado and Madre de Dios. You'll spend 3-4 days exploring Tambopata National Reserve where giant river otters swim freely, blue and yellow macaws soar overhead and red howler monkeys swing through the canopy. Our customers really love the elevated walkways - seven hanging bridges take you 91 feet up where you'll get close to white-throated toucans, woodpeckers and also three-toed sloths. The night walks are particularly good this season; expert guides help you spot nocturnal animals while explaining their behaviors and habits.

- Spring 2026
Spring opens up fantastic pathways into the deeper Amazon rainforest near Manaus, with our tour options letting you pick between authentic expeditions and cultural immersion. Our travelers praise guides like Eduardo, who lead groups through hidden jungle paths and waterways while teaching local survival techniques and spearfishing in remote areas. The focused 4-5 day journeys mix each day thoughtfully - mornings are spent tracking wildlife and fishing for piranha, while afternoons involve learning about medicinal plants from native guides and visiting caboclo families, who showcase traditional manioc flour production. The overnight camping becomes particularly special in spring, as TourRadar customers often mention how sleeping in hammocks under the canopy connects them to the jungle's nocturnal rhythms. What distinguishes these spring tours is their perfect blend of wilderness skills and also cultural connections - you'll paddle dugout canoes through flooded forests, practice traditional spearfishing and gain genuine insights from indigenous communities about their daily Amazon life.

- Summer 2026
Manaus comes alive in summer with both water and land activities. The 4-5 day programs mix things up nicely - you'll start your mornings piranha fishing and spotting dolphins, then head into the jungle where guides share their knowledge about medicinal plants and survival skills. TourRadar customers often tell us the overnight camping is a highlight; you'll learn spearfishing techniques and track wildlife in the dark. The visits to caboclo families add real depth to the experience - they'll show you traditional manioc flour making and give you genuine insights into daily Amazon life.

- Fall / Autumn 2026
Fall gives us perfect conditions for expedition-style tours that blend lodge comfort with real jungle experiences. The 5-day programs start with dawn bird watching before heading out on ecological walks where you'll find various monkey species, sloths and other wildlife. Our travelers appreciate how we balance the activities - morning canoe rides through flooded forests, afternoon visits with indigenous communities and also nighttime caiman spotting. The hands-on spearfishing lessons and survival training make these autumn trips special, while the lodge stays give you a comfortable base between outings. Based on the reviews, Intrepid comes out looking pretty solid - their guides Patricia, Smithie and Edwind got specific mentions for going the extra mile and travelers really liked how well-organized their tours were. TourRadar's feedback is a bit mixed. One family had a great time on their Puerto Maldonado trip - everything matched the description perfectly, from the places they stayed to the activities they did. But there's also a story of someone getting frustrated with slow responses and ending up booking directly with Amazon Amazing Tours instead. That said, it worked out well since they loved the alternative tour, especially praising Leo who owns it and their guide Anailson. Amazon Tours got good marks for their actual tours, though it's worth noting their accommodations are pretty basic and you won't find air conditioning there. If you're expecting luxury, that might not be your best pick. Looking at these companies side by side, Intrepid seems to be the most consistent with positive feedback, TourRadar is hit-or-miss with their communication but delivers good experiences, and Amazon Tours offers good value if you're okay with simpler lodging.
