Solo travelers on Utah tours are usually between ages 25-55 and find it easy to connect with others while hiking through The Narrows in Zion National Park or watching sunrise at Mesa Arch. Most tour companies handle single room arrangements near Bryce Canyon and Moab without hassle, though you'll pay a supplement of around $400-600 for the week. Group activities like stargazing in Capitol Reef National Park and campfire gatherings near Canyonlands create natural opportunities to meet people. You'll join others for meals in towns like Springdale and Kanab, which helps build friendships throughout the trip. The structured itinerary means you won't need to navigate alone to remote places like Goblin Valley State Park or Dead Horse Point. What people love about touring Utah solo
- Mighty 5 From Las Vegas
What a wonderful experience! Touring somewhere so beautiful isn’t exactly hard to sell, but to do so efficiently to create an unforgettable experience requires things that you all provided in spades: 1) a comfortable smoothly running vehicle; 2) Quaint stopovers with good food/good price that provide sustenance/rest to cover a lot of ground quickly; and most importantly 3) a fabulous guide who knows the prettiest spots to stop and the passion about where we are/what we are seeing to make you realize how special this area of Utah is and how privileged we are to have such pristine beauty on our planet, much less in our own country. Jenna brought this area to life both with her knowledge and enthusiasm, for both of which we are extremely grateful. She enhanced the experience immeasurably and was notably also very facile at accommodating the differing physical capabilities of all of those present, enhancing the ability for all of us to enjoy the experience and also to enjoy each other’s company as a group.
- Mighty 5 From Salt Lake City
Excellent, well organized and our tour guide, Adam, was knowledgeable and extremely helpful.

What our customers ask about Utah Tours for Solo Travelers
What's the best time of year for solo travelers to visit Utah's national parks?
The sweet spots for exploring Utah's national parks are spring (March-May) and fall (September-October). These seasons bring pleasant temperatures for hiking and fewer tourists on the trails. Summer gets quite hot in lower parks like Zion with temperatures reaching 100°F/38°C. Winter brings snow to higher elevation parks like Bryce Canyon which creates beautiful scenes but can limit access to some trails. Booking data shows most solo travelers choose September and October when the weather is reliable and group tours are readily available.
What are the typical accommodation arrangements for solo travelers on Utah tours?
Tour accommodations range from comfortable hotels to unique lodging experiences near the national parks. Places like Capitol Reef Resort and Zion Mountain Ranch offer 3-4 star rooms that solo travelers can book privately (with a single supplement) or share with another traveler. Some tours feature distinctive options like western-style wagons with modern amenities in Zion complete with private bathrooms and outdoor fire pits. A TourRadar traveler shares: "The accommodations were very good from the Red Cliffs Lodge with its beautiful two-level rooms overlooking the river to the cozy lodges near the parks."
How social are the guided tours in Utah's national parks for solo travelers?
The small group format of Utah tours naturally creates connections between travelers. Groups usually include 8-12 people who quickly bond while hiking the Virgin River Narrows or watching the sun rise at Bryce Point. One TourRadar traveler describes their experience: "The group was wonderful we had great camaraderie everyone was very inclusive. Our tour guide Randy was awesome and extremely knowledgeable about directing us to various hike options."
Do I need to pay a single supplement as a solo traveler on Utah State tours?
Single supplements typically cost between USD 250-400 for private rooms at properties like Homewood Suites in Moab or Ruby's Inn near Bryce Canyon. To avoid this cost travelers can opt to share a room with another solo traveler of the same gender. TourRadar data shows that about 40% of participants on these tours travel solo making room-sharing a common option.
How much time should I plan to spend exploring Utah's national parks as a solo traveler?
A complete experience of Utah's "Mighty Five" national parks needs 8-10 days though you can see highlights in 4-5 days. Most itineraries dedicate 2-3 days to major parks like Zion and full days to others. This pacing allows time to explore and connect with fellow travelers. A TourRadar traveler confirms: "The 8-day format gave us plenty of time to really experience each park's unique features and bond with our fellow travelers."
