What people love about touring Utah solo
- Mighty 5 From Las Vegas
I expected to have a good time visiting the Mighty 5 parks, but I couldn't have anticipated how extraordinary it would turn out to be! Our guide, Simone Kuzma, was incredible! She is so knowledgeable and fun and shared tons of fascinating geological information, making the whole experience so much more interesting. Every part of our itinerary went smoothly and we had the absolute best time. The parks and scenery were beyond words and I can't wait to go back! Kudos to Southwest Adventure Tours.
- Mighty 5 From Salt Lake City
I had a phenomenal and truly mighty experience at all levels. Loved the scenery, the tour guide, the small intimate group, the itinerary and all the hotels and food except for the hotel in Moab (not too bad to be honest but could be better). I appreciate the tour was not canceled even though we were only two people. If it'd had been canceled I would have missed the opportunity to explore and have fun during my school break, so THANK YOU so much for honoring your commitment to your clients! Cindy is a great person and tour guide, a great asset to this kind of work. Thank you Cindy for your devotion and making sure everything was taken care and we were happy and comfortable!!
- Camping Utah's Mighty 5
Fantastic experience. The hikes were all different but the landscapes equally stunning. Our CEO was excellent in his knowledge and his guidance of the group. There was alot of driving but it was the only way to see all 5 Parks, and was definitely worth it. It was a full on tour, but then that is what we wanted and paid for. Worth every penny!
What our customers ask about Utah Tours for Solo Travelers
What's the best time of year for solo travelers to visit Utah's national parks?
The sweet spots for exploring Utah's national parks are spring (March-May) and fall (September-October). These seasons bring pleasant temperatures for hiking and fewer tourists on the trails. Summer gets quite hot in lower parks like Zion with temperatures reaching 100°F/38°C. Winter brings snow to higher elevation parks like Bryce Canyon which creates beautiful scenes but can limit access to some trails. Booking data shows most solo travelers choose September and October when the weather is reliable and group tours are readily available.
What are the typical accommodation arrangements for solo travelers on Utah tours?
Tour accommodations range from comfortable hotels to unique lodging experiences near the national parks. Places like Capitol Reef Resort and Zion Mountain Ranch offer 3-4 star rooms that solo travelers can book privately (with a single supplement) or share with another traveler. Some tours feature distinctive options like western-style wagons with modern amenities in Zion complete with private bathrooms and outdoor fire pits. A TourRadar traveler shares: "The accommodations were very good from the Red Cliffs Lodge with its beautiful two-level rooms overlooking the river to the cozy lodges near the parks."
How social are the guided tours in Utah's national parks for solo travelers?
The small group format of Utah tours naturally creates connections between travelers. Groups usually include 8-12 people who quickly bond while hiking the Virgin River Narrows or watching the sun rise at Bryce Point. One TourRadar traveler describes their experience: "The group was wonderful we had great camaraderie everyone was very inclusive. Our tour guide Randy was awesome and extremely knowledgeable about directing us to various hike options."
Do I need to pay a single supplement as a solo traveler on Utah State tours?
Single supplements typically cost between USD 250-400 for private rooms at properties like Homewood Suites in Moab or Ruby's Inn near Bryce Canyon. To avoid this cost travelers can opt to share a room with another solo traveler of the same gender. TourRadar data shows that about 40% of participants on these tours travel solo making room-sharing a common option.
How much time should I plan to spend exploring Utah's national parks as a solo traveler?
A complete experience of Utah's "Mighty Five" national parks needs 8-10 days though you can see highlights in 4-5 days. Most itineraries dedicate 2-3 days to major parks like Zion and full days to others. This pacing allows time to explore and connect with fellow travelers. A TourRadar traveler confirms: "The 8-day format gave us plenty of time to really experience each park's unique features and bond with our fellow travelers."
