What people love about Budget Tours in Mount Everest
- Everest View Trek
Doing the Everest Base Camp solo can be a great experience: walking at one's own pace, meditating throughout, pushing oneself when it gets tough, and feeling the indescribable pride when finishing the trek. For a woman though, it can be tricky to find a trusted local agent. I chose Alpine Ramble and the service highly exceeded my expectations: first the communication with Dil was awesome, he understood all my requirements and proposed the right travel for me, explained all the steps and details and was super prompt on answering my many queries. When I arrived to Kathmandu, my guide Mr Ram and Dil were welcoming and explained further the trek's day by day details. During the trek, the respectful and kind Mr Ram made the journey bearable by explaining the difficulties and timing of each portion of the path, so I knew exactly what to expect, when to stop for breaks and when to carry on for that extra mile that seemed hard at the beginning but was achievable at the end. Dil was following remotely all the steps, like a gardian angel, answering additional questions and making sure I had everything I needed to get the most amazing experience. Dil, Mr Ram, I still can't believe I made it! And in just 8 days!! This would have never been possible without you both so from the bottom of my heart : thank you ?
- Everest Base Camp & Kala Patthar Trek-14 Days
Excellent tour to Everest Base Camp with Adventure Himalayan Travels & Treks. We were well cared since arrival to Kathmandu airport. Rana was waiting for us and made sure we had all necessary information. Next day he saved our schedule by organizing helicopter ride to Lukla (there were no flights due to bad weather) for reasonable extra change. In Lukla we were met by our excellent guide Mon and porter Dhon. Guide had organized everything, so all we needed to do was to concentrate on walking and admiring beautiful scenery. After 4 days of continuous rain the sky finally cleared up and the rest of the trek we enjoyed in beautiful sunshine. Overall I really liked that it was very clear, what was included and what was excluded. Costs were showed transparently. Mon is honest and can be fully trusted, which I found very important. We also had many interesting discussions about living in Khumbu valley and other topics. Mon knew all the mountains and could tell lots of interesting information. But what comes to altitude sickness, you should find out the key information regarding symptoms, medicin etc. before travelling by yourself and not just count on the guide and his knowledge. Do not try to run after guide, but rather walk at your own pace without running out of breath. Guide will not leave you alone, but waits if needed. Overall I warmly recommend Adventure Himalayan Travels & Treks, its director Rana and our guide Mon as well as porter Dhon for trekking in Himalayas. They all made our dreams come true and did their best to make sure we had great holiday. We truly did. Thank you!

The off-peak seasons of December-February and June-August offer the best value for money on Everest treks. You can save 20-30% on teahouse stays in places like Namche Bazaar and Dingboche compared to the prime trekking months of March-May and September-November. Several key expenses fall outside standard budget tour packages: Nepal entry visa ($25 for 15 days), travel insurance personal flights, drinks teahouse amenities like hot showers ($3-5) and battery charging ($2-5). You'll also need to cover tips for guides and porters ($5-10 daily) plus meals in Kathmandu ($5-15 per meal). A TourRadar traveler advised: "Budget extra for drinks snacks and tips - these small costs add up but are still reasonable."
What is the average daily cost for a budget tour to Mount Everest Base Camp?

As one TourRadar traveler noted: "We found them very affordable compared to other companies while still providing great service and an amazing experience."
Which areas along the Everest Base Camp trek are most budget-friendly for accommodation?
Lower elevation villages like Phakding Monjo and Namche Bazaar offer better value due to competition between guesthouses. Prices tend to increase at higher stops like Gorak Shep and Lobuche where lodging options become limited. A TourRadar traveler shared: "Teahouses in Namche Bazaar offered the best value with more facilities for the price."
How much should I budget for porter and guide tips on Mount Everest treks?
Standard tipping rates for guides run $8-10 daily while porters receive $5-7 per day (one porter typically serves two trekkers). For a 12-day journey this totals roughly $100-120 for guide tips and $60-80 for porter gratuities. As one TourRadar traveler shared about their Sherpa Expedition trek: "Our guide and porter were excellent and definitely deserved good tips - they worked incredibly hard carrying our gear through places like Namche Bazaar and up to Everest Base Camp."
What permits and fees are included in budget trek packages?
