Budget Tours to Namibia
Namibia centers on Windhoek in the central highlands, then stretches west to Swakopmund where the Namib Desert literally meets the Atlantic Ocean. From inland plateau to that dramatic desert-ocean junction, you'll see southwestern Africa's diverse landscapes without breaking the bank. Sometimes the most dramatic scenery doesn't require the fanciest price tag.

What people love about Budget Tours in Namibia
- Sossusvlei, Swakopmund and Etosha National Park 7 Days / 6 Nights
We had a wonderful time during our trip through Namibia with Across Africa Tours & Travel and can highly recommend! We are a couple from Germany, used to good hotels but also spend a lot of time in the mountains hiking and staying over in Alpine lodges. We normally also like to travel and explore a new country and culture on our own - but due to workload we did not have time to acquaint ourselves with Namibia before the trip so we've opted for a small group, organized trip. We found the offer short notice (3 days prior to departure) on Tourradar, booked on a Sunday - and received confirmation straight Monday morning! :) @Across Africa Tours & Travel: thanks for making this possible! Contact prior to the trip was very friendly, and questions were answered quickly. The trip in lodges and campsites was well organized. Car, drive, campsites, lodges, tent and equipment were all very nice, comfy and in good shape. We are minor neat freaks - but just bring a liner and your gear, and all is fine. Our trip went from Windhoek to Sossusvlei / Solitaire, Swakopmund and area, to Etosha and back to Windhoek. It was planned to arrive back in Windhoek late afternoon / early evening and we had no stress making our departure flight at 7:30 pm. We had a great time with our guide/driver, Shawn! Many thanks for the wonderful trip - we can truly recommend!! Due to the short-noticed booking we ended up travelling just the two of us, and Shawn did the best to cater to our needs and was very flexible. As far as possible, requests on alterations to the route (i.e. spending more time somewhere, taking out a stop but therefore adding another one on the route etc.) where done. His recommendations on additional activities and possible alterations where all worth while - of course, it's up to you to choose, but utilize your guide's connections where possible. For example, we very much enjoyed: - Hot-air balloon ride in Swakopmund (wanted to do this for years so took the chance. Hot-Air Ballooning Namibia was very safe, friendly, well organized, punctual for agreed pick-up etc.) - Jeep safari to Sandwich Harbour near Swakopmund (not cheap but very recommendable! done by Sandwich Dune Tours) - Open air jeep for safari in Etosha (contact through Shawn) - Recommendations on restaurants We also liked the BBQs, grocery shopping etc. - all added to the occasion. And in our conversations we also learned more about Namibia than if we had just travelled by ourselves. To us, it was a special trip to remember. It was only too short, but that's down to our availability. So we definitely want to come back and would book with Tourradar and Across Africa Tours & Travel again at any time!

What our customers ask about Budget Tours to Namibia
What are the included activities on budget tours in Namibia?
Budget tours focus on key experiences in Namibia's main attractions. You'll get morning and afternoon game drives in Etosha National Park and visits to the desert landscapes of Sossusvlei and Deadvlei. Tours also take you on walks through Sesriem Canyon and stop at the Tropic of Capricorn marker. Some itineraries add cultural experiences like visiting the Himba Village near Kamanjab. A TourRadar traveler noted: "The included game drives were fantastic - our guide was knowledgeable and we saw lots of wildlife in Etosha."
What type of accommodation can I expect on budget tours in Namibia?
Your nights will be split between camping and basic lodging. Most tours provide 2-person canvas dome tents at established sites such as Okaukuejo Camp in Etosha National Park. You'll also stay at simple hotels like Hotel A La Mer in Swakopmund. A TourRadar traveler noted: "Don't be scared about the camping - it was an adventure and the tents were comfortable with proper facilities at most sites."
What is the average daily budget needed for meals not included?
Plan for 25-30 USD per day for meals outside the tour price. While basic breakfasts and some dinners come with most tours you'll need to cover lunches and drinks. Restaurant meals in cities like Swakopmund cost 10-20 USD. Local food markets offer more affordable options at 5-10 USD per meal. A TourRadar traveler mentioned: "The food options in towns were reasonably priced especially if you're willing to try local spots."
How much additional money should I budget for optional activities?
Set aside 100-200 USD for extra activities during your tour. Popular options include sand boarding in Swakopmund for 40 USD guided desert walks for 30 USD and night game drives in Etosha for 60 USD. A traveler shared: "Having an extra 150 USD covered all the optional activities I wanted to do without going over budget."
When is the most affordable time to visit Namibia?
Travel during April-May or September-October for the best combination of value and weather. These shoulder seasons bring fewer crowds and lower prices than the peak months of July-August. Places like Desert Camp near Sesriem reduce their rates during these periods. Tours run year-round but offer better deals in shoulder season. A TourRadar traveler shared: "We went in April and got great weather plus better rates on accommodation."
Are entrance fees to national parks included in budget tour prices?
Most budget tours cover all major park entrance costs. This includes Etosha National Park fees (80 USD per day) and Sossusvlei access (60 USD). The price typically covers both park entry and guided activities like game drives and walks in Deadvlei. A TourRadar traveler confirmed: "All park fees were included and we didn't have to pay any additional entrance fees during the tour."
