Croatia Sailing Adventure: Dubrovnik to Split - A
Aiman • traveled in August, 2025
We had an amazing time on our sailing trip from Dubrovnik to Split! Our docked stops were all beautiful and the swim spots along the way offered crystal-clear turquoise waters in secluded bays which were amazing. Our Skipper, Ben, was skilled and attentive, keeping us informed on our itinerary while ensuring we were all enjoying our time. He was kind, fun, and reliable and we are grateful to have been on his tour! Oana was our host and completely exceeded our expectations when it came to our culinary experience. We expected simple food and instead were served gourmet, artfully prepared dishes which we would not have expected to be possible on a sailboat. I couldn’t help but take a picture of every meal because it all looked so beautiful, and we always cleaned our plates. She was also quite helpful in making recommendations for food and activities on our stops and we enjoyed getting to know her. We did daily yoga led by Alex which added balance with movement to our relaxing trip. Such beautiful settings for yoga flows! Overall, it was a unique and fun way to tour some of the most beautiful areas in Croatia and we would highly recommend it!

We really enjoyed our cruise. The staff were friendly and helpful. It was well organised & everything explained each day. Plenty of food & catered for everyone. The last couple of days the tour was at full capacity & the dining area felt a bit crowded.

What our customers ask about Sailing Tours & Trips in Croatia
What is the best time of year to sail in Croatia?
Croatia's sailing season spans from May to September with peak activity in July and August. During summer months destinations like Hvar Island and Split see temperatures between 25-30°C making conditions ideal for sailing. The water stays comfortably warm and sea conditions are typically calm. May and September attract fewer visitors while maintaining pleasant weather for sailing and exploring coastal towns. A TourRadar traveler confirms: "still great weather for swimming" on their Dubrovnik to Split journey.
What are the must-visit destinations on a Croatian sailing route?
The Dalmatian Coast offers several key ports of call between Split and Dubrovnik. Visitors can explore Hvar's 16th-century fortress take in Korčula's medieval architecture where Marco Polo was born or spend time in Mljet National Park's saltwater lakes. The Blue Cave on Biševo island and Bol's Golden Horn beach are natural highlights along the route. Accommodations like Hotel Dubrovnik in Zagreb and Hotel President in Split provide comfortable bases. A TourRadar traveler notes: "The route from Split to Dubrovnik was spectacular with each island offering something unique - from Hvar's nightlife to Korčula's historic charm."
What activities are available during port stops?
Port stops offer varied activities from water sports to cultural experiences. Visitors can cycle around Mljet's lakes join wine tastings in Hvar or explore historic sites. Water activities include swimming and snorkeling in secluded bays. One TourRadar traveler reports: "We had amazing experiences from kayaking in secluded bays near Korčula to exploring the Blue Cave near Vis plus wonderful walking tours through historic towns and evening entertainment at local konobas."
What's the typical budget needed beyond the tour cost?
Daily expenses beyond tour costs average 50-60 USD covering meals not included drinks and optional activities. Entry fees vary from 25 EUR for Mljet National Park to 35 EUR for Dubrovnik City Walls. TourRadar travelers advise: "It's good to carry cash as some smaller islands don't have ATMs and local restaurants may not accept cards. Port taxes around 40-60 EUR per person are typically paid in cash at the start."
How many people are typically on a Croatian sailing tour?
Passenger numbers on Croatian sailing tours range from 20-40 people. Larger vessels like the Avangard accommodate 38 guests while smaller boats carry 20-25 passengers. The size allows for both social interaction and personal space. A TourRadar traveler shares: "Our group of 34 on the Dalmatian Islands Cruise was perfect - small enough to get to know everyone but large enough to always find someone to hang out with."
