I was a bit skeptical booking this trip on Touradar as there wasn’t any recent reviews but I took the chance and all I can say is.. I’m so glad I did! It was my first Intrepid Tour but will not be my …I was a bit skeptical booking this trip on Touradar as there wasn’t any recent reviews but I took the chance and all I can say is.. I’m so glad I did! It was my first Intrepid Tour but will not be my last. I have done previous tours with a younger cohort but really enjoyed the mix of ages.
India- The Golden Triangle Tour up to Agra.
My Group Leader was Juhi, a really sweet, patient and knowledgeable group leader. The first hotel we stayed at was very basic. The area wasn’t great but I’m guessing because it was close to the metro subway, that’s why we stayed in this area. We took the metro to a few activities which was pretty cool. There were a few days where we spent a lot of time walking in the sun which I loved but it might not suit every one.
For a lot of the temples we had guides which was brilliant but I suggest looking up some the history prior to going so you can really engage. We visited a gem factory, a carpet factory, silk factory and though these sound boring, it was super interesting and no obligation to buy. I regret not buying something in the silk factory- all traditional silk ways of making things.
We did a food tour as an additional activity booked through intrepid and it took us to amazing street food!
The Taj Mahal was incredible, I thought it would be jam packed but we went at golden hour and it was perfect. For those wanting to get a snap without people in it, you can ask a photographer there to photoshop people out!
Jaipur the pink city was so nice after the chaos of Delhi. The hotels we stayed at for the rest of the trip were lovely!
For the second part of the trip, some of us who were continuing on, joined another group. Our group leader was Neeraj (Nicky) a very patient, hilarious inclusive leader.
Nicky was very experienced and even organised outside activities and accommodation for after the tour (I was able to get a discount so would recommend talking to intrepid about accommodation before and after to get the best out of your trip).
The highlights were seeing 8 one horned rhinos in Chitwan National park, being so close it looked at us a few feet away ( set your expectations low and you will not be disappointed). Kathmandu was incredible also.
If you’re wondering if this tour is for you:
There is a night train that isn’t every one’s cup of tea but Nicky made it as relaxing as possible.
There is a bit of physical activity-walking, climbing in and out of boats, camping, tuk tuks, Nepalese roads are extremely bumpy also so if someone has back issues, it may not be the best tour (best to speak to intrepid prior to booking).
My only criticism was that when we went camping on the Ganges river (prepare yourself to be do wee and poo in a hole) was that the boat we took was a row boat and it took a fair while to get there (they were sleeping in between!) would have been a far better experience if it took less time eg a motor but it was a brilliant experience none the less.
Clothing wise: I brought some cotton pants, scarves as you need to cover up going to the temples.
Go with no expectations to both India and Nepal and you will have the most amazing time!
Food is cheap also! Thanks for a trip of a life time intrepid!

My highlights were the things I wouldn't have gone for if travelling alone and discovering that they were all such a blast - kendo class with a descendent of a samurai, staying in the temple with morning prayers, sake tasting - all an absolute hoot with our small group of 12. 100% 1life tours will be our first choice of operator on our next adventure.

Great tour which gave an excellent varied view of Sri Lanka. Most of the accommodation was good; I’d look at changing the Kandy hostel as no windows in the room was rather unpleasant. I had looked at various tours and each time came back to this one - the value for money and the amount you see in such a short time is second to none. The tour was jam packed with activities but also had the right amount of down time. I can not fault any of our guides (Julie, Ravi and Mica) each one of them excelled themselves and went above what was expected to ensure we all had a once in a life time adventure. Thank you One Life Adventures for providing me with memories that will last a lifetime and allowing me to travel such a beautiful country with amazing people. I will not think twice about booking another One Life tour.

The One life Adventures itinerary allowed us to capture the real Sri Lanka without feeling rushed like other tours I have been on. Julie and the Local tour guide Ravi were brilliant and always went out of their way to make the trip special. We had 3 birthdays, including my own on the trip and they made sure we had a great day filled with cake.
I do think the restaurants we ate in were a little pricey so I would recommend bringing extra cash for dinner unless you want to eat elsewhere.

The tour had everything you could want for 2 weeks in Sri lanka, the accommodation and food was amazing and the itinerary was packed with a variety of activities. I would have liked a bit more of a range of places to eat as I felt I spent a lot more money than I budgeted eating in fancier restaurants so it would have been good to also include local cheaper places too.

I feel so lucky I was able to explore this beautiful country with such wonderful people and I felt really safe doing so. I’m super impressed with OneLife and their values as a company in regards to helping local communities, educating people, and making a positive impact. I can genuinely say I don’t think I would have any criticisms of the tour. Will 100% be looking at doing another OneLife tour in the future and recommending to friends and other travellers!!

OneLife have put together an awesome Sri Lanka trip. Great mix of comfortable transport, mostly awesome hotels and the loveliest glamping safari tent stay for something really unique and special.

I’d probably prefer to pay a little extra up front for more meals to be included but it’s not like they were expensive by western standards anyway so not a big deal I guess!
The included activities and experiences were fantastic. We had plenty to do but also managed to get in a lot of free time so it was a good mix.
I traveled with my friend and most of the other people in the group were in their 20’s but a really chilled out, adventurous bunch of people from Europe, Australia and the USA. We made some friends we will defiantly be seeing again!
The driver, bus assistant and Allan our local leader were all so sweet and friendly and worked their butts off to make everything run smoothly for us.
Our tour leader, Julie ended up being more of a helpful friend than someone that was just doing her job. She clearly has such a passion for travel and exploring the world and interacting with all kinds of people while sharing her experiences and learning about theirs. That’s what travel is all about!
Will be recommending OneLife to everyone when I get back home

This was my first time doing a tour with a group, so I had no idea what to expect. I came with a friend, but would happily go alone next time as it’s teally easy to make friends on a trip like this.
The team was great. Alan was lovely and it was great to have someone local to share knowledge and stories while we traveled around. Julie was an amazing tour guide who was super easy to get on with, and really cared about making sure we all had a great time. Julie went the extra mile a lot, bringing her camera and taking pics of us all so we had great memories and taking us to new lunch spots she’d found.

Transportation, meals and accommodation all far exceeded expectations for a trip at this price, and I would happily stay/eat in any of the places we visited on the tour if I were to return to Sri Lanka again.
Julie was a very knowledgeable and approachable tour guide, and went above and beyond to make sure everyone enjoyed the trip.

Our tour guide Julie is FANTASTIC, making sure every little thing ran smoothly and working SO hard to give us the best experience possible! Her positivity and passion for travel was contagious and the whole group formed such a close friendship, we were like a big family by the end!!
The itinerary is AMAZING! So jam packed, I would never have imagined seeing so much on one trip- making some early starts more than worth it!!! Everything was timed to perfection but it didn’t feel regimental at all. We always had the perfect amount of time at each place. Activities were also really varied, with lots of opportunities to meet locals and really get involved in the culture of the country!
All the accommodation was amazing, the hotels were beautiful and the hostels were perfect! The staff were also fab, always making sure everyone was happy!
The food was a delight! A lot of meals were Sri Lankan buffet style so we could pick and choose exactly what we wanted, (always a bit of everything for me), it was all too yummy!!
If you couldn’t guess, I cannot recommend One Life enough!! If you’re thinking of taking a solo trip- do it! You come away with the best memories, friends and a whole new perspective !!

Also the company goes above and beyond in ensuring that it takes care of the environment as well as the locals and based on the attitudes of the locals it seems to be doing quite a great job at doing so. Our absolute legend of a tour guide Julie also went above and beyond her call of duty in ensuring we were able to have the best experiences within the time given. She also made sure to make the best recommendations even on and off the tour. I will definitely be utilizing other One Life Tours in other cities based of the exceptional experience in the Philippines!

The tour was very well organized, delivered in perfection and offered a perfect mix of offbeat cultural experiences, beach/island hoping, sailing, snorkling, nice restaurants, bars, camping and some party days and it was a true value. We visited many amazing spots, restaurants and bars and felt welcome everywhere as One Life members.
The tour guide, Julie, was outstanding and her passion for the role, confidence, smile and charisma resonated to all of us. She made everyone connect, feel welcome and at ease and we all ended up pretty much like a family towards the end of the trip with some emotional farewell and an epic sunset together with a group hug at a beach pier.
Brooke was also being trained to be part of the growing team and did a great job during her training.
I also would also like to endorse the approach of One Life Adventures to sustainable Tourism and the education and difference that they place in the community in Philipines and also those minor but big changes in also educating us, participants in being better citizen’s of the world.
In summary, outstanding Tour, I totally recommend and wish all the best to the One Life Adventures team and Julie and will be checking your other tours and recommending to friends.

Staff at each hostel/hotel were friendly and made sure we had a fantastic stay. We had a range of local and western meals throughout the tour which provided something for everyone and a taste of the local dishes!

She was available 24/7 and was always there to answer and help with not only this specific trip but also helped with onward travel plans we had that didn't involve the company but was still willing and happy to help, giving great recommendations and contact details for us. Absolutely everything was included, it was so well organized & there was minimal bus/travel time! What made this tour for me though was my absolute legend of a tour guide Julie! From the beginning, Julie went above & beyond to ensure we were prepared, full of information, fed well (she knows all the good spots!) & having an amazing time. She took the time to get to know everyone individually & for me, it felt like I was traveling around with a friend rather than a guide! When things happened out of our control (ie weather), Julie did an incredible job to ensure we still had the best time on our activities & when something was canceled, she gave us plenty of options to pick from. As this tour happened over Christmas, Julie organized a very special day for us filled with games, secret Santa, massages, a trip to the beach & a group dinner. I cannot recommended this trip & Julie enough! I’ll definitely be booking another tour with Julie in the future!

The food provided exceeded our expectations as well as Julie's willingness to go above and beyond to make sure everyone was enjoying themselves, despite the weather being unpredictable. Julie always provided clear instructions to the group, was very socialable, approachable and happy to help out with anything. In terms of making the tour better personally I didn't think the prison visit was needed or more could be done with it and the seafood restaurant suggested for dinner in Puerto princessa should be changed as it was pricey and the service was bad, but these are only minor tweaks as overall it is a well organised, enjoyable tour with great activities, food and awesome tour guide

Travelled with a fantastic bunch of people, including our tour guide Julie who was just the best! She went out of her way to ensure that we were always having a great time and getting the most out of every day, and it was clear that her number one priority was making sure that we were all having the best trip possible. She was a friendly, upbeat and all round amazing human being, and her passion for travel and helping others to do so makes her exceptional at her job; I couldn’t recommend her highly enough and would love to tour with her again someday!

The itinerary was solid, the price was more than reasonable for an entire trip being planned and organized for you. I could not be happier with my decision to go. My group was amazing, we weren't a very diverse group but we still brought our own spunk to the table and everyone respected each other.
Julie. What a wonderful human. This was her last tour having someone to be with her before she is able to guide these tours alone, but you would have thought from the beginning that she already had been doing this tour for months. We had a few sickies, myself and another, and she handled it wonderfully, never making us feel left out or abandoned. Always making sure we got the proper medical attention we needed. She really began making this tour her own, and I think the future groups are going to love what she brings to the table.
One life. This tour company has given me the opportunity to meet not just those on the tour, but so so many more people, especially locals, whom in any other lifetime I never would have had the pleasure of meeting. I now couldn't imagine not knowing these amazing people. It was so amazing I canceled my flight and stayed longer, just to get a little more of the Philippines.
If you need a break, if you don't, if you're looking for excitement and adventure and a time to completely let go of the stressor of planning, I promise this is your tour.

This tour was a taste of the west coast of Brazil and certainly lived up to expectations. The tour leader, Luma was very passionate, energetic and informative about the country, making her a great advert for not just Intrepid Travel, but also Brazil. The small historical city of Paraty was a very historical and cultural place to visit and the island of Ilha Grande was very picturesque. The only trouble was as Ilha Grande was a tourist destination you do get hit with heavily inflated prices and sometimes sub-standard food (this was not the case in Paraty though). The final stop was Rio De Janierio, where the hotel was great (better than the other two) and lived up to all expectation of being one of the most iconic cities in the world (especially as the world record setting Lady Gaga concert coincided with the end of the tour). Now I am just waiting for an Intrepid tour that includes the Pantana and Florianópolis

The group activities like the kendo class, tea ceremony, sushi making class, wearing kimonos, and the boat ride were worthwhile. Additionally, there was time built in to each day where we could explore on our own. You will definitely have a ton of fun and get your steps in touring with this group. We missed out on the first experience of Kuranda via skyrail & train which was quite disappointing & there was no alternative. Overall the rest of the activities were informative, fun & enjoyable despite being soaked to the bone from head to toe at Mossman Gorge.
We felt the tour was quite rushed for a holiday.
Being on a strict timetable was annoying.
Honestly thought we were on a school camp except for the great accommodation, really nice food & very nice travelling companions!
The highlight for us was meeting a local First Nation's family who gave an awesome account of their history, weapons, artifacts, food sources & traditional ways.
Our guide always seemed to be in a rush.
One example was when we had our farewell dinner & were told 3 minutes prior that we were leaving at 8:30pm. All of us were wondering why as this had not been mentioned earlier so there was a scramble to finish drinks etc.
We were also scolded if we were a minute or 2 late back to the bus, I realised later the bus clock was 5 minutes fast!
It has left a sour taste in our mouths & doubt that we would travel with Intrepid Tours again.

To add icing on the cake, we were so pleased with our tour guide, Suchin Temo who was an active, up to date, informative and fun person to be around with, to say the least. He's innovative and caring and his experience and mastery of his job is what is exemplified the whole time we were with him.
We won’t mind booking another tour with him as our guide as we never had a dull moment with him at all.
Our driver was an added bonus as he was an expert on the area as well as a safe chauffeur too.
Overall it was an AAAAAAA+++++++

Being part of such a small group, eating and staying in a Cambodian family's home, riding a bicycle and tuk-tuks and visiting various small local artisans gave me important and fascinating insights into the friendly, hard-working people of this country. Our guide, Kom, was extremely personable, answered our every question, and his personal experiences with us along with showing us the rich history of Cambodia. I definitely plan to join other Intrepid tours and to tout this company to my friends here in America.

Take a warm jumper and waterproof shoes.
