Groups of 6-15 travelers get focused attention at UNESCO's Great Mosque of Kairouan and El Jem's ancient amphitheater. Small numbers make wood-fired couscous prep at a Sahara camp more hands-on, and traditional lunches at Tozeur's oasis cafés feel more authentic. Coordination's easier while hiking Douiret to Chenini.

Groups of 3-12 people mean you'll get more personalized attention during hands-on activities like the Harissa-making workshop in Nabeul and the cooking class in a traditional Tunisian house within the Medina. Smaller numbers make it easier to connect with the Women of GDA El Ferch cooperative in the Dahar mountains, where you'll prepare artisanal desert snacks and hear their personal stories. Navigating the troglodyte homes in Matmata and the underground Hotel Sidi Idriss works better with fewer people - you'll have more comfortable access through narrow passages and better photo opportunities at the iconic Star Wars filming locations.

Reviews of Small Group tours to Tunisia
- Highlights of Tunisia, Small Group Tour
I recently completed a fantastic five-day tour of Tunisia with Tunisia Voyages. I found the company through TourRadar and truly lucked out—they exceeded every expectation. Over the course of the trip, we visited an impressive range of destinations: Hammamet, Kairouan, Tozeur, Douz, Matmata, El Djem, Sousse, Sidi Bou Saïd, Carthage, and Tunis. I especially appreciated the diversity of what we saw. Every stop offered something different, and each place was both beautiful and fascinating in its own way. Kairouan, one of the holiest cities in Islam, amazed me with its ancient medina and Great Mosque. Tozeur and Douz gave me a taste of the Sahara, with palm oases and dramatic desert landscapes. Matmata’s traditional troglodyte homes were unlike anything I’d seen before. The Roman amphitheater at El Djem—one of the best-preserved in the world—was jaw-dropping in scale. And wandering through Sidi Bou Saïd with its blue-and-white architecture felt like stepping into a postcard. Carthage offered layers of ancient history, while Tunis combined modern energy with rich cultural sites. What made the tour truly exceptional, though, was the team. My guide, Anis, and my driver, Jamal, adapted the itinerary to my interests and pace, whether I wanted to shop, linger somewhere longer, or move on quickly. I especially loved the Roman mosaics at the Bardo Museum in Tunis, so we spent extra time exploring them. I jokingly started calling Anis “the professor,” because his knowledge of Tunisia’s history and culture felt endless. Both he and Jamal were not only skilled at their jobs, but also genuinely warm, thoughtful, and fun to be around. I have only good things to say about Tunisia Voyages—the tour was perfect. My only complaint is that it went by far too quickly. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and would recommend this tour to anyone looking for a well-organized, engaging introduction to Tunisia. I truly hope I’ll have the chance to return to this beautiful country again.
- Tunisia Discovery, Small Group Tour
This tour of Tunisia was brief but very informative. The guide was very good and had a good knowledge of the cities and the country. The hotels were also very good - the food ranged from standard buffet fare to very good. I wish that some of the hotels were nearer to the center of the town so that one could walk from the hotel to various sites. I would recommend a hotel that is closer to the center of Tunis instead of the one in Gammarth as that one is very isolated and one has to take a taxi to get anywhere. The only other change I would make is to see if one could put together a couple of nights stay in the same hotel as it is tiring to have to pack and unpack each and every night except for the very last night of the tour. No issues with the driver and the SUV that was provided - perhaps for larger groups they might need a van instead. All in all, I was very pleased with the tour arrangements and it represented good value for money.
- Tunisia Expedition

Small group tours in Tunisia keep numbers between 8-12 travelers allowing for easier navigation through places like the Medina of Tunis and the archaeological sites of Carthage. The smaller size means guides can give more individual attention at key locations and cultural sites. What type of accommodation is provided on small group tours in Tunisia?
Tours include stays at carefully chosen 4-5 star hotels across Tunisia with priority given to location and cultural character. Guests often stay at established properties such as the Golden Tulip Taj Sultan in Hammamet or El Mouradi Palace in Sousse. These hotels blend modern comforts with local architecture and design. A TourRadar traveler mentions: "The boutique hotels were a highlight - staying at the Dar ALOUINI in Kairouan and Palm Beach Palace in Tozeur gave us a real sense of traditional Tunisian hospitality."
How much interaction is there with local communities on small group tours?
