The route takes you through Portogruaro's Venetian-style streets, once an important river port for the Serenissima, before catching a boat from Marano Lagunare to see Aquileia's Roman ruins. Then you'll ride along the white cliffs from Duino through Sistiana to Trieste and cross into Slovenia, passing Sečovlje's salt marshes where they still extract sea salt naturally.

This 7-day cycling trip covers 61 kilometers from Sarajevo past the 1984 Winter Olympics sites at Igman and Bjelašnica, then follows an old Ottoman caravan route over Bjelašnica and Visočica mountains with 1,630 meters of descent to emerald-green Boračko Lake, continuing along a converted narrow-gauge railroad from Mostar through Hutovo Blato Nature Park.
