Routes vary from easy 3.4 km loops to strenuous 14.9 km descents through the Teno massif. Ride the cable car up Pico del Teide, then hike down through lava fields with 1,480 meters of descent to Parador Nacional. The Punta del Hidalgo to Batan de Abajo route in the Anaga massif gains 780 meters through subtropical laurel forests and steep mountain ridges. Atlantic views open up along the ridgelines as you go higher.

Walk paths through UNESCO-listed Teide National Park around Spain's highest peak at 3,718m, then check out the fragrant laurel forests in Tenerife's Anaga Mountains. You'll hike coastal trails from Masca village through hidden gorges to black sand beaches, passing old terraced fields that show the island's farming past.

Hike through Masca Gorge and complete the El Teide circular walk, gaining 650m elevation over 10km through volcanic landscapes. Orotava Valley's fragrant laurel forests and northern coastal paths offer daily routes averaging 4-5 hours of walking time. Accommodations include Parador de Cañadas del Teide, positioned well for summit attempts and crater walks.

Trek through Masca Gorge where steep rock walls tower above and rare plants grow along the path, then take a boat from Playa de Masca to see the famous Acantilados de los Gigantes cliffs rising from the sea. The route takes you across old black lava fields in the Teno Mountains.

Tackle the tough GR 131 trail across Tenerife with serious climbs from sea level up to 2,152m at Parador de Las Cañadas del Teide, hiking through five different climate zones over 8 days. The route starts from Aguamansa into the highlands and crosses the stony Cañadas desert below Mount Teide.
