The length of the tour was good for older travellers. The bus was comfortable and more roomy than the Mercedes we had on another small group tous.

Guide and overall organisation excellent. Itinerary excellent as well given the time constraints. It would have been nice to drive past 1or 2 castles or stately homes just for a photo op but this is just a suggestion not a legitimate criticism.

We enjoyed every day. It was a busy pace for us but we got used to it. The counties were beautiful as we suspected. Our drivers and Louise were professional and Louise’s stories were very entertaining.

Best time to visit South West England
- Spring 2026
Your first chance to really explore South West England comes in spring, with small-group tours heading from London to the Isle of Wight. You'll start by going up the 170-meter Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth before catching a ferry across. The highlight for many is Queen Victoria's Osborne House - an Italian-style mansion with golden rooms and carefully maintained gardens. These 3-day trips take in the white chalk formations at the Needles and also the cliffs at St. Catherine's Down. If you've got more time, the 7-day options add Stonehenge, spots to see Dartmoor's wild ponies and also the lovely fishing village of Port Isaac in Cornwall. Our guide Amir gets lots of mentions from TourRadar customers for mixing local insights with great food tips and also keeping the mood up with well-chosen driving music.

- Summer 2026
Summer's perfect for longer explorations into Devon and Cornwall. Most popular tours combine Stonehenge with stops along the Jurassic Coast where you can hunt for fossils. The 3-day trips pack in quite a bit - you'll see Durdle Door's natural arch and spend time in Exeter with its Roman walls, gothic cathedral and also Tudor buildings. On 7-day tours you get to properly explore Dartmoor's open spaces, wander through Boscastle's Elizabethan streets and catch a show at the Minack Theatre right on the cliff edge. What works really well is having two nights in places like Exeter and Falmouth - TourRadar customers tell us it gives them proper time to get to know these old port towns and also find their own favorite spots.

- Fall / Autumn 2026
By autumn the crowds thin out and the landscapes fill with color. Most people start at Stonehenge before heading to Glastonbury to climb the Tor. Then it's on to Bath where you can take it easy with afternoon tea and walks past Georgian buildings. The longer tours head to the Isle of Wight which is lovely and quiet this time of year - our travelers really enjoy watching the sun go down from St. Catherine's Down and exploring Winchester's old mill and also its cathedral. If you go for 7 days you'll get deep into Cornwall to see St. Ives' galleries, the cliffs at Land's End and also St. Michael's Mount rising from the water. The cooler autumn weather makes it much nicer for walking around medieval towns and coastal paths according to our TourRadar customers.
