What people love about New Zealand Tours for Couples
- New Zealand: Sweet As South (Westbound)
I loved this tour, I did it with my sister and we had a great time with each other and making new friends. The only thing is that there were some places I wish we had longer at, like many of the small country towns we stopped through to get lunch. We also didn't get a chance to see Christchurch at all, which we were okay with because it looked so similar to our home, but it would have been nice :) (I'd say book a couple days at the end or start of your trip if you're keen to see it) Still, I highly recommend this tour. Who knew a good cup of tea and the views of the alps could be so good for my mental health. Can't wait to get back to this amazing place.
- Northern Spotlight
Good balance to tour and guides/ drivers were excellent.
- New Zealand North Island: Haka & Hot Springs
Awesome experience, gave us a good taste of the north island. Definitely recommend taking the 'Rock the Boat' optional and doing the night kayaking. Our trip leader was Lauren, she works over in Australia and was filling in for a few weeks, so she didn't know absolutely everything but she knew enough and what she didn't know our bus driver Prickles knew (Actually he knew everything). We made some awesome friends and I definitely recommend this as a great way to get to see New Zealand. The Tour does pick up/drop people off at different points in time so make sure you ask those who are there how long they're staying on for. Some of our friends continued on and were doing the Grand Kiwi, and from what I've seen and heard - it's an awesome way to travel NZ. After our tour we headed down to Queenstown on our own for a week, while we were there the Top Deck tour we were on came into Queenstown so we got to see some of our friends again. By that time they had gotten a new trip leader who was a local - Lance, who knew all the bar managers at different places often getting us cheaper drinks. Its awesome to travel with a trip leader that know the route because they often tell you the locals places to go and can get you good deals. Or in our case... Lauren convinced the manager of the Skotel to somehow get some more vodka because we kind of drank it all.
What our customers ask about Romantic New Zealand Trips & Honeymoon Packages
What time of year is best for couples to visit New Zealand?
Summer (December-February) is perfect for couples with warm days around 68-77°F (20-25°C) - great for picnics and outdoor exploring. If you want a quieter experience with still-nice weather, try March-May or September-November when temperatures stay between 59-68°F (15-20°C) and you'll find fewer tourists. Some couples love visiting in winter (June-August) for skiing near Queenstown or soaking in Rotorua's hot springs together.
What are the most romantic sunset and evening experiences in New Zealand?
You can spend evenings stargazing together at Lake Tekapo's Dark Sky Reserve, taking in the Southern Hemisphere stars in one of the clearest night skies you'll ever see. In Queenstown, take an evening cruise on Lake Wakatipu on the historic TSS Earnslaw, or head up the Skyline Gondola for dinner with an amazing view. Many couples love relaxing in Rotorua's natural hot pools at night. The evening shows at Te Pā Tū are really special too - you can experience Māori culture and performances as the sun sets.
What are the most romantic locations and activities for couples in New Zealand?
You'll find plenty of spots perfect for couples - try wine tasting at Central Otago's vineyards, taking a cruise on Lake Wakatipu, or having dinner at Walter Peak High Country Farm near Queenstown. If you're near Napier, The Crown Hotel offers beautiful waterfront rooms and excellent dining at their Milk & Honey restaurant. Other couples who've booked through TourRadar really loved taking a sunset cruise in Milford Sound and visiting private hot springs in Rotorua, especially the Wai Araki Hot Springs & Spa.
Which accommodation options are best suited for couples looking for privacy and comfort?
You'll find lots of romantic places to stay, from the Distinction Te Anau Hotel with its lake views to the cozy Millennium Hotel Queenstown near the Remarkables mountains. The Crown Hotel in Napier is a lovely boutique option right on the waterfront. Other travelers through TourRadar particularly liked the Douglas Wing at Scenic Hotel Franz Josef Glacier and the Punakaiki Resort - they said the private balconies facing the Tasman Sea were perfect for quiet evenings together.
What are the most scenic drives for couples in New Zealand?
The drive to Milford Sound through Fiordland National Park is incredible - you'll pass Mirror Lakes and towering mountains. Along the West Coast between Franz Josef and Punakaiki, you'll see dramatic coastline and beautiful forests. Wine lovers should drive through Central Otago's vineyard country, stopping at charming places like Arrowtown. The road from Queenstown to Glenorchy along Lake Wakatipu is another favorite - other travelers say you'll want to stop for photos of snowy mountains reflecting in the lake every few minutes.
What unique dining experiences are available for couples?
You can share some really special meals together in New Zealand. Try the traditional hangi cooking at Te Puia in Rotorua, or book a wine-paired dinner at Craggy Range Winery's Terroir Restaurant. Walter Peak High Country Farm does amazing gourmet barbecue dinners. Other couples who've traveled here loved sharing platters at Church Road Wines, and the seafood at Hiku restaurant in Kaikoura comes with beautiful ocean views.
