What people love about touring Puglia solo
- Matera & Apulia Private 5 Day Tour
Great tour guide, loved one hotel but other not so much. Fantastic communication with TourRadar.
- Discover Matera and Taste of Salento Tour
I directly booked this tour with Mr. Omar. Traveling alone, I had many questions regarding the tour process and accommodation. The agent was great in answering all my requests in a long email exchange. The experience in Salento was exceptional, the welcome received from Emilio and his family was something unique and special. The accommodation provided in a double ensuite room was perfect, simple but clean and comfortable. The big plus was certainly Emilio's cooking. Every day I could order what I wanted to eat in the evening. Fresh fish, homemade pasta, burrata cheese and prawns like never eaten in my life! A driver and local guide available every day to visit the splendid villages of Salento are another plus of this tour, together with the family atmosphere and flexibility. Emilio, being a true local, always adds something more than what is on schedule. The chocolate factory was amazing! In Matera instead, I stayed in a suggestive hotel in the Sassi area, the cave room was impressive! Here there is much more free time to stroll and do some shopping. The only problem, Matera is all ups and downs with stairs everywhere. The local guide Cosimo was excellent and of great sympathy and knowledge who set up a tasting of wine and typical products just for me, in the tavern of a local producer. The dinners in the local restaurant were delicious with a rich menu and dishes of the local cuisine, not the usual tourist stuff. A lovely experience, and a big thank you to Omar and everyone who made it possible! Highly recommended
- Puglia Tour
Loved this engaging guided walking tour of Puglia! Our guide Gaetano was fantastic! He was so considerate to the needs of everyone in our group of 8. Gaetano was flexible and would add and/or slightly change or adjust plans to suit our desires. His itinerary is well thought out to insure a nice balance of discovering beautiful historical and geographically interesting sites, as well as meeting locals with small businesses like vineyards, olive oil and burrata cheese producers. The various accommodations were quite lovely and very comfortable. The meals were absolutely delicious and ranged from local farm to table options to gourmet fine dining meals with wine parings!! I highly recommend this tour!!!
What our customers ask about Puglia Tours for Solo Travelers
What's the best time of year for solo travelers to visit Puglia on a guided tour?
For solo travelers, plan your visit during spring (April-May) or fall (September-October). The weather is mild and you'll encounter fewer tourists at key sites like Alberobello's trulli houses and Lecce's historic center. Tour data shows September and October attract the most solo travelers. A recent traveler shared: "Traveling in May meant perfect weather for our group activities and comfortable temperatures for socializing in outdoor cafes."
Is it safe to explore Puglia's towns and cities alone during free time?
Puglia ranks among Italy's safer regions especially in tourist areas like Alberobello Lecce and Matera. Most accommodations such as The Nicolaus in Bari or Hotel Belvedere in Matera are situated near main attractions making independent exploration convenient. A recent visitor noted: "I felt completely safe wandering the historic centers in the evenings with plenty of other tourists and locals out enjoying the passeggiata."
What meals are typically included in Puglia guided tours and how are they arranged for solo travelers?
Tours generally cover daily breakfast and several group dinners at local establishments and hotels such as Hotel Vittoria in Gargano. These shared meals featuring local dishes and wines create easy opportunities to connect with fellow travelers. A recent guest noted: "The group dinners on our Puglia Panorama tour were highlights - sharing local specialties and wine while getting to know my fellow travelers made solo travel so enjoyable."
What type of accommodations can solo travelers expect on Puglia guided tours?
Accommodations typically include 4-star properties like Hotel Lo Smeraldo in Itria Valley or Hotel Excelsior in Bari. Rooms come as single or shared options with common areas designed for group interaction. A recent guest mentioned: "The Palazzo Rollo in Lecce had a wonderful communal terrace where solo travelers could easily meet and mingle with others from the tour group during evening aperitivos."
What types of cultural activities are included that help solo travelers connect with both locals and other travelers?
The tours blend hands-on experiences like pasta-making in Lecce olive oil sampling in Ostuni and guided walks through Matera's ancient cave dwellings. These shared activities naturally spark conversation among participants. As one traveler put it: "The cooking class in Lecce was perfect for breaking the ice with other travelers - we all laughed together while learning to make orecchiette pasta."
